Remarriage & Desires (2022)
Slow and boring
It has all the character stereotypes seen in the western soap operas but the pace goes very slow considering western standards. Long Episodes, one hour. It was too much, I yawned many many times but made the effort and finished it anyway. Pass it over. Koreans made better flicks.
Alba (2021)
Unfair Imdb average score. It deserves better
A good series about the violent gang rape of a medium class town woman by the sons of the siblings of the richest family. Shows a lot of indirect implications in terms of power, money, corruption, cover up and this makes it worth to watch. Some of the cast participated in other Spanish good series too. It starts a bit slow but then it gets engaging. Settings and imagery are great, a beautiful quaint Spanish seaside town with sandy beaches and pristine waters.
Capitani (2019)
Second season shows improvement
Riveting good crafted plot with an embedded whodunnit gives way to an engaging crime story that could have been better with a faster pace. Sophie Mousel beauty and acting add points. Dark ambience adapted to the plot is well achieved. Lots of susprises and a good ending devoid of flaws.
Kus Uçusu (2022)
Preposterous script
I have found a good cast of actors, nice imagery and a turn of events that kept me engaged but some points of the script looked ludicrous "this cannot be" and tarnished the overall quality of the series. The Turkish producers need to send their screenwriters to study abroad, they are making big blunders and spoiling their products. A bad score for Neflix this time to include this show in its series catalogue.
Yolun Açik Olsun (2022)
Is ok. Nothing special in this movie
Though the script was correct, engagingand ingenious, I could not glean much the emotional features the producers of this movie intended to convey along the way. Maybe it is about Turkish performers akin to my latin culture as viewer. Gray like my review.
RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) (2022)
A one of a kind action movie
A behemoth production with a very simple script. The fight of the good (native Indians tribes) against the evil. (the oppression of the colonial ruthless British Army) occupying India at pre-independence time . This movie is very long, it lasts more than 3 hours, and displays lots of visual effects made with the help of digital technology and aerial drone panoramic views. Monumental action scenes. Impressive close up of dizzying moving objects. Lost of stunts. Beautiful Indian musical plays with astounding dancers. It is not 3D but it gets close by. The pace is turbulent, fast and keep the viewer engaged all the way to the end. No bumps. It delivers.
La ira de Dios (2022)
Dull
The choosing by Netflix of Argentine premium male actors Peretti and Minujin to attract viewers could not make up for the wasting of a good script into a poor screenplay. Does not convey emotions, and the dramatism required in some scenes does not show up either. Dull. It is a one dimensional cardboard flick all the way.
Intimidad (2022)
A burdensome melodrama
Knowing in advance the subject matter of this series, I found it alluring to watch it, as the porn revenge and private sex videos uploading that began with the advent of the internet became felonies. Hence, I expected a dramatic crime thriller, but found something different instead. The first two episodes were engaging but then everything dissolves into a melodrama that break downs to follow secondary aspects and instead of deep it gets tedious. Some scenes were filmed, (lousy extras) without the ability to convey the dramatism required to impact the viewers. An eight episodes package was too much for a wasted good product that could be constructed in six at most to deliver a tour de force.
You Don't Know Me (2021)
Worth to be watched
A crime thriller with all the cliches of the genre. A good script, the good and bad guys, tension, weapons, blood, violence, cops and gore. Good twist and turns, cunning and unexpected, the last one is terrific, it challenged my understanding, and this is what I liked. A four chapters size looked appropriate to avoid the unnecesary dragging that makes a good product burdensome for viewers. In my opinion for the last twist deserved eight points.
Neumatt (2021)
Good plot, clumsy management of times
The plot is good and solid, the father dies and leaves a farm. A conflict breaks up among the inheritors, the wife and each son fight for their own selfish interest. The chraracters are good, the acting fine, and the rythm appropriate to allow the viewers to absorb everything and enjoy the drama but then there are a couple of brisk turn of events on the story that look out of pace and tarnish all the good creative job done particularly near the ending. At the first episodes I was wondering if the Imdb average low score was unfair and misleading but after I finished the series I realized why.
The Lincoln Lawyer (2022)
Good legal thriller. Superb Mickey acting
Great court room drama scenes. Mickey and Maggie multidimensional characters are very well played. Good set up mystery to keep viewers engaged. Cunning plot but with a bit disloged ending. The weakest point is that there are a couple of intertwined complex stories with many facts and run too fast to be followed with a fair comprehension.
Il processo (2019)
Sophisticated thriller
Carefully crafted. Nice imaging. Cunning script. Full of twis and turns. Whodunnit scheme. Two last episodes have got the best in reserve for viewers. Vittoria Puccini compose a great acting portraying the hard line prosecutor tormented by a private emotional life and holding her great secret.
42 Días en la Oscuridad (2022)
Good enough
Setting, the beautiful landscape of southern Chile on the foothill of the Andes Mountains A woman vanishes and the husband becomes a suspect. The mistery is well played on to engage the viewer sometimes abusing math technicalities but with elements to move the plot forward with an attractive whodunit. Fair twists and turns. Well conceived ending. Some characters are a bit grotesque and others too soft developed to be credible. Overall, entertaining and much better than many American run of the mill crime stories.
The Dropout (2022)
Lots of fun and lots of truths
A tour de force. Vivid corporate America start up venture misfortunes in the face of an ironclad young woman. Binge watched the series in a Saturday afternoon. Great script and good cast of characters. Great fiction made out of real events. Recommended for entrepreneurs by one of the biggest Latin American e-commerce tycoons.
Mai (2022)
Did not like it
Too slow, confusing, with many contrived events to solve the situations done in an awkward manner. Our heroine has got a lot of help from the producers to accomplish the impossible.
Above all boring.
Pálpito (2022)
For the sake of goofing off. Flimsy script
Fast paced with enticing cliffhangers at the end of every episode. Thrilling but with the softening cooling of soap opera dialogues. I cannot condone gruesome mistakes in the script complemented with contrived coincidences. Old cliches typical of Latin America productions. Good looking actors and actresses portraying main characters as a resource to keep you engaged with the screen all the way to the end. Secondary actors, "the ruthless bad guys" have lousy grotesque performances, they seem to be acting in a school play stage . Could be watched to have some fun. Some moral questioning arising from the plot spray bright spots in this one more run of the mill series. Some twists in final episode offered . Fine. Colombia producers have exhibited in streaming, better products.
Sorjonen: Muraalimurhat (2021)
Awfully boring
Too slow to provoke an enthralling entertaiment with the facts at play. Intend to exploit well known characters of the Sorjonen series to non avail. Lousy acting of second characters that look like cardboard pieces.
Dhobi Ghat (2010)
Awfully boring
I do not know what the producers had in mind with this movie, it is the sort of a sleepy slow paced script where nothing happens everything seems disconnected and you are anxious for the ending. The only recoverable things are the shots of Panoramic Mumbay and the teeming streets of its business hours
Jerusalema (2008)
High voltage South Africa
Riveting. The story of a young black man raised in the poor district of Soweto at the dawn of the post apartheid era and who choses the wrong path doing a carreer in crime becoming a kingpin in Johanesburg. Fast paced, great acting but some minor mistakes in the script. Overall the movie idea is to show a social and economic reality of those times and it does
El robo del siglo (2020)
Total entertainment
Very compelling and with very proven good actors, never let go its fast pace from beginning to end. My only criticism is that the crooks clear so many hurdles in such a short time that the series sidesteps the realm of fantasy
Ajji (2017)
Too predictable
Fails to provide viewers the allure of mistery they purposely show what is about to happen and it happens. Leaves no message.
Udta Punjab (2016)
Should improve some things
The plot is good, the characters are well developed, there are some good twists and turns. The message is crystal clear, to show how the drug destroys young lives, and how the business is carried out in Punjab, India where poverty is rampant. However the fast simple contrived events dropped time and again, and on top of that the childish ending tarnishes the quality shown in this long movie
Birdshot (2016)
Good plot, violent movie, political message
The corruption and arbitrarieness besides the lack of care for ethic and moral values shown in this film about the procedures carried out by the Filipino police must be a wake up call for the Government of this country to make amendments because of the image this movie projects to the World. The script is good, original, well structured and with a nice imagery as well as its unexpected ending to close paralell stories
Marco Polo (2014)
A pity its slow pace compared to other epic series
Great series, great production effort but for an epic theme, great battle and fight actions are scarse and the pace and acting approaches that of a soap opera, so many times I found it boring and splitted the hourly episode in two half hours watching section. So soapy opera and boring that I quit three episodes before the ending
Layla M. (2016)
To the point, nothing else
At a time of the ISIS raucous war in the Middle East, a Muslim teen with a strong identity falls prey to Jiddahists, trading her confortable life in a working decent family in The Netherlands for an unknown future. Strong character but naive beliefs do the rest. Modest production, conveys the idea and tells a lesson
