Ghost in the Shell (2017)
Much better in many ways!
6 of my colleagues and I watched this together and we all have the same conclusion that the movie is much better than those bad critics out there.
That conclusion was easy despite we purposely watched both anime movies and I personally looked at the manga.
In terms of technology context, this movie is able to present the futuristic image of living in the hologram world. The details like the road, lighting, billboards, buildings, cars are well done. Yes, the boiling kettle and apartment setting are out of time but it's kind of proof that there are real humans alive.
I like the part where the movie tells us how Datou got that weird pair of eye. I like the part where Dr. Ouelet sacrifices herself to free Mira to redeem her mistakes and ultimately lead to her possible mother. I like the fact that the enemy here is Kuze instead of The Puppet Master in the anime), and they did not end up merging together.
Most of all, I like the way Scarlet portray Mira in a more humanistic way. Having watched her in Lucy or as Black Widow, I couldn't think of another bad ass woman to play this role!
Power Rangers (2017)
I grew up and so happy and nostalgic to see this movie!
I am still happy whenever I watch the good old MMPR movie but hey the newest movie really brings back the memory in a fresh way.
The way to morph is much better, the casts too. The story is a little odd to me because unlike the past, the selected rangers are excellent, top students but this time .... they're not. This might not be a good example for kids.
The very good small little thing is the fact they put Amy Jo and JD Frank in the cameo, it's a smart move that completes the movie.
I look forward to see the next Power Rangers movie!
Boruto: Naruto the Movie (2015)
Deeply moving and fantastic!
This movie sums up the legacy of Naruto very well! I enjoy watching it from the first till the very last minute plus credits and the cliffhanger of Mitsuki's parent after that. Everyone was laughing on that!
The plot and scenes are arranged beautifully that I feel no time is wasted. Graphics animations and music soundtrack also have amazing effects!
Even if you don't read the Japanese manga or previous movie, you can tell that the essence of story about a boy who's longing for a father's acceptance but ended up overwhelmed by the fact that Boruto's father (Naruto) has overcame so much weaknesses that viewers should know how did he do that. On the sideline, we also see how Naruto's best friends like Sasuke, Shikamaru and the Gokages teaming up in ways we've never seen before as the new united generation. The scenes where Naruto and Sasuke fighting Kinshiki are awesome, beat my expectation!
Movie is about 90% close to the novel which is excellent. Some scenes like Sakura & Temari, Chunnin Exams, flashback on Naruto learning Rasengan with Jiraiya, Neji's death really brings fond of memories of Naruto stories.
The movie could've been a little better with deeper interaction between Naruto, Hinata and Himawari, as well as Konohamaru and Kakashi. I hope this is not the last from either Naruto or Boruto.
