Eric Silvera and Sean Kenealy play two old friends, who get together to write a screenplay which gets intercepted and believed to be the basis of a terrorist attack. This is a truly funny movie, you can tell Eric and Sean are good friends in real life, the chemistry between them is fantastic with superb comedic elements going back and forth. This is not a film to invite your Gran to watch on Christmas Day! It is blunt, crass at times and full of hilarious vulgarity...and did I mention it was funny?! It was shot on a shoestring budget went with this and had great fun showing this on screen. If you look at the car scene near the end and say "hey, that's not even a real car!" then this movie may not be for you! This really is one of the funniest films I have seen in a while, if you have even a slightest touch of a warped sense of humour, you will love it too.
To be honest, I was not expecting much from this movie, just 3 blokes in and out of a car? However, I was well and truly proved wrong. A great story with an 80s vibe, the acting, story, choreography and atmosphere were just top notch. The soundtrack was superb, and reminded me of one of my other favourite soundtracks from the 2007 movie Sunshine...i am listening to the soundtrack as I write this! Some have said it was slow and overlong, well I didn't go to look at my watch once...and that is quite something for me! The ending also had me coming out in a big ol smile! Kudos to all involved in this production.
Dominic Jackson shows how a film with almost no budget can truly deliver. Brilliantly written, funny, thought provoking and sad, it shows how it is all to easy to escape your demons with drink and drugs rather than seek help.
Robin's demons are his mental health issues which are all too common these days. Drew Horner is superb as Robin, this guy will go far, just don't point a fish stick in his face!
Highly recommended, Polar deals so well with a sometimes touchy subject matter which needs to be addressed a lot more.
