Stranger Things (2016)
I absolutely adore this show
I'm an idiot. I pretty much avoided this show from the beginning....for no good reason. The only poor excuse i can grasp at, is that i thought I wouldn't like the show because the main characters were young children. Saying that makes me look like an idiot though because I loved The Goonies, and The Sandlot (and I still love them and have re-watched them very recently).
Had some free time recently, and saw some talk on the internet about the new season (Season 4) so I decided to give it a shot. I binged all 4 seasons in about a week, and as you can see from my rating, I freaking loved it and regret not watching it sooner.
- The whole thing reeks of 1980s....the music, clothing..everything! It's GREAT, and it's so nostalgic it hurts! (i was born in the mid 80s).
- If you grew up playing D&D as a kid, you'll be giggling through the whole show (they make references a lot and use D&D as an exposition device)
- The child actors are amazing! I was really impressed with them all
- Winona Ryder, and David Harbour did an amazing job as well. Top tier!
- Favorite Characters? Eddie, Steve, Argyle, Murray, Dustin.
- As far as standout performances.... Sadie Sink, Gaten Matarazzo, Joseph Quinn, Noah Schnapp, David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown all had scenes that resulted in me sobbing like a 37 year old man-baby.
If I were to rank the seasons.... i think season 4 has been my favorite so far (and i think it's the one that has had me the most emotional)
#1 Season 4
#2 Season 1
#3 Season 3
#4 Season 2.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
One of the better films of the year.
Really enjoyed this film. Great story telling, full of fun, has some deep emotional moments, not afraid to be a little weird at times. Ke Huy Quan is absolutely amazing, and if i'm honest he's actually the reason i gave this movie a watch in the first place. Bravo!
Aquaman (2018)
Okay, but lots of 'painful' moments
Momoa is a great Aquaman, and it's awesome seeing Willem Dafoe in a role like this, they both do great! Amber Heard is dreadfully awful on the other side of the spectrum. I don't even know how she is a successful actor these days, she is an empty vessel. I will not be watching the sequel if she reprises her role. Her acting is painful to sit through and her real life drama is something I cannot see past.
P. S. It was also incredible to see Dolph Lundgren on screen again! He was fantastic!
Sick of It (2018)
Biased review here
Huge fan of the Ricky Gervais radio series and podcasts. I thought it was brilliant. Karl is a good actor, even if hes just being himself in the end. Keep em coming Karl!
