The Fugitive Kind (1960)
I thought this fell flat.
Another Tennessee Williams flop in my opinion. It a shame too! The acting is extraordinary, but the story and dialog is just horrid. There are so many scenes where the scene should have just ended, but it just drags on and on. A man walks into a closed store and yet talks with the wife's owner for 20 minutes about absolutely nothing. Just mindless banter. I do not recommend this as good movie overall. I do appreciate Marlon Brando and Joanne Woodward's performance it was great. The plot was just too sterile and serious. No fun at all, just an overly dramatic tale that went on way way too long.
Lethally Blonde (2024)
Well, this won't last long.
I just watched the second episode of this show "Lethally Blonde". My main issue was that, there weren't any blondes involved in this episode. It's the second episode and they're already deviating from their premise of "blonde". Sure the host is blonde, but that was about it as far as blondes go. It wasn't a horrible episode and the players don't have to be blonde, but sheesh, "blonde" is in the name of the show. I give this show about 8 episodes tops before it's pulled from the airwaves. There is way too much good television and streaming these days to watch shows like this. I don't recommend this show.
One False Move (1991)
Reminds me of High School
The acting in this movie is horrific. It reminds me of my junior play in high school. The actors are stiff and non convincing as characters. It's literally like they are just saying their lines about 50 percent of the time. The story itself isn't too bad but some of the side plots are laughable. Two Los Angeles cops just hanging out in rural Arkansas? Past relationships just keep popping up. The thing that gets me the most about this movies is the rating. It gets 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. I've never even heard of this 33 year old movie until 2024. Why? Because it's so bad. It belongs on a shelf in an old video rental store. It's certainly not worthy of anything over 60 percent.
Fargo: Bisquik (2024)
I've got to agree, this was bad.
Sometimes there are good seasons and bad seasons of a show. This season was bad compared to the first three seasons of Fargo. I don't even count season four as anything worth reviewing here.
This season was just bad. It started off nice and had some good plot lines. However every episode just seemed to get weaker and weaker. The entire season suffered from this. I saved every episode I recorded with the hopes that I might and go back and watch the entire season again. After the 6th episode, I just started deleting them as soon as I watched them. I couldn't delete this last episode fast enough. It was just bad.
Fargo: Insolubilia (2023)
Can we back off the cutesy?
Can we just watch a good decent episode without someone having to find some obscure word in the dictionary as a episode title? Do the writers always have to be mysterious and out there? I had to watch parts of this episode 3 times just to find out who was who and what was going on. These obscure events and yawn filled dialog are getting old. I had to quit season four because of this, but I thought I'd give season 5 a try. It looks like another mistake. I still don't understand why some people are chasing other people and in the next scene they are friends or chums. It's a silly season so far I hope I can stomach more.
30 for 30: The Minister of Defense (2023)
Great Subject Matter, Poor Content
This 30 for 30 was pretty good, but not great. Reggie White was a great football player and a respectable servant of the religious world. I enjoyed this presentation but I fail to understand why they had to bring LZ Granderson into the commentary. I believe he was only brought in because it's 2023 and they needed some ESPN and mainstream media type person to protest the past. I don't even know who Granderson is or why we should care what they have to say on the subject of Reggie White. I know Granderson used to be on The Sports Reporters, but that doesn't constitute a legitimate reason for them to speak. Especially when Reggie White was 100 percent right in what he preached.
Where Eagles Dare (1968)
Love Clint Eastwood!
I love Clint Eastwood but this is one of the most ridiculous movies I have ever seen. Almost every scene had an unbelievable synopsis. Close shaves, near death experiences etc... The sheer luck of the group on the mission was laughable. In all honesty if the Germans would have been working with the Brits and choreographed the mission ahead of time, they couldn't have been more precise and lucky. The funniest scene was when the fake prisoners were in the gondola, and the rescuers just happened to get on top of the same gondola, after running, climbing mountains, dodging the enemy and then their accomplish (after more dodging the enemy and maneuvering her way through the castle) just happens to look out the window of her assigned room and there is the same gondola with all of her team on it. How convenient.. and lucky.
In a Lonely Place (1950)
It's actually fun to watch.
I've seen this movie twice. The funniest parts are Bogey's demeanor throughout the movie. First of all he weighs about 140 pounds, but he supposedly goes around starting fist fights. He even says he's done it 100 times. Then he invites a coat check girl to his apartment at 10 or 11 at night so she can tell him about a book and she actually goes. Plus the girl breaks a date with her boyfriend so she can do this.
But when the girl is found dead and Bogey is named the suspect, he literally doesn't care. He's just lackadaisical in the interrogation room. Then he hooks up with his beautiful neighbor, has her move in, and orders her around like a tyrant.
I loved the scene where Bogart is at his typewriter and orders his girlfriend to make him, "Orange Juice, eggs over easy, bacon, toasted muffins, strawberry jam, and lots of coffee" Then she happily says, you'll have it in 10 minutes.
Hilarious scene.
Buddy Games (2023)
It wasn't horrible.
This show wasn't too bad. It was something to fill in the gap when Survivor or Big Brother wasn't on the air. It seemed like a legitimate competition among teams of friends. Josh Duhamel was a good host. His light-hearted approach seemed to make the show more real. I would watch it again if they have a second season.
I would hope they can somehow make it so the teams can't unite against another team just because they don't like them or something about them. I'd also hope they give out uniforms that fit next time. That one lady had to make rig her top with shoe laces just to make it fit. Seemed kind of silly that she had to do that.
Lost in America (1985)
Doesn't compare with Back to the Future.
Two movies made in 1985, Lost in America and Back to the Future. I see BTTF on television 15 times a year. I see Lost in America once every 5 years. Why? Because it's not a good movie! It's not funny, nor was it ever funny. The style of comedy that Albert Brooks came up with was just terrible. Long drawn out scenes, with the viewers just waiting for something funny to happen, but it rarely paid off. I don't know what Albert Brooks was trying to accomplish with this style of comedy, but it didn't pay off, in my opinion.
It was a clever premise and plot, but the back stories and side stories were just uninteresting. Very poorly written.
ESPN First Take (2007)
Come on ESPN!
First Take is another show on ESPN about nothing. We see an entire weekend of excellent sports, but get no highlights on Monday, or Tuesday etc.... All these guys do is talk. They make up silly debates and just talk about it. They'll say, "Can the Warriors win while Curry is recovering from an ankle sprain?" Then for 6 minutes one person will say yes they can, and another person will say, no they cannot.
It's just silly banter I'll also never understand why they are talking about basketball and trades etc.. during baseball season. It's a very biased show and whatever the topic is about is based on what Stephen A. Wants to talk about. Show some highlights!
Big Brother (2000)
Pointless at times.
I have watched this show off and on for years. Yes it's entertaining, but the premise of the show it to evict one player every week or so until only one person (the winner) remains. A few times I have seen when an entire week of competing, conniving, etc.. is completely erased because the producers decide to create some special immunity, or situation that undoes the results of a week's competition. The game is for $750K and people play hard to evict a competitor and then the producers decide it's not time for a certain individual to leave, so they just change the rules as the game is being played. It's almost as if the producers and powers that be are helping to decide who they want to win and not who deserves to win.
Pardon the Interruption (2001)
Watched for 20 years... now done!
Wow, even Pardon The Interruption went with the other shows on ESPN. I thought Kornheiser might keep the show entertaining, but ESPN just had to follow the other shows. I quit watching when the Rapinoe cutout is in the background, or when the topic isn't sports, but social issues. Mike Wilbon is so biased it's sickening. If a certain coach is fired or someone disses a player, Wilbon is ranting all over the place, but if some player breaks the law or is justly fired, Wilbon won't say a word. He knows exactly who he supports and it's not based just on sports but other things that are more like Wilbon's heritage. I just want to watch sports.. not some forced social commentary.
Live PD (2016)
A MUST watch for teenagers!
Every school in America should show this to all the students enrolled. It's such a simple process, obey the law and this show's scenarios will NOT happen to you. Don't drive around at 2 a.m. With drugs and guns in your car. Have your driver's license and insurance with you. Pull over and show some respect for the cops and this sort of stuff simply won't happen to you.
I can't believe people don't like this show or have a thing against law enforcement. It's a great show that could be a great teaching school for would be thugs. Everyone who runs from the cops on this show get everything they deserve!
The Challenge: USA (2022)
Very confusing!
Season one was sort of clear cut and enjoyable to watch, but the finale and it's rules were horrendous. How can one person get to "time out" of a challenge puzzle and then get to move on after 30 minutes, but another person on a different puzzle must solve their puzzle? And to throw a random puzzle that most people don't know how to play into an ATHLETIC challenge was just rigged.
Season 2 is very confusing. I watched about 30 minutes of drama and chat and about 7 minutes of actual "Challenge" type action. The rest was commercials. For some reason just because you were on Big Brother, now makes you a Challenge type athlete. It's hard to watch.
The Batman (2022)
Just a bad movie
I watched this with high anticipation and was highly disappointed. It was like the writers or director was trying to mysterious or using some artistic license to be different and it just backfired.
I knew within the first hour of watching this movie, I would never watch it again. I also knew I would watch all the Micheal Keaton, Val Kilmer, Ben Afleck and Christain Bale movies again, but not this one. The only reason I continued to watch this one was because I hoped it might get better. It did not. Very poor writing and directing. I don't know why the writers want to make it so dark and mysterious that you can't even understand the plot.
The Murder Tapes (2019)
Decent, but there's better.
This show has the potential to be much better than it is. When you are showing a show of actual body camera footage, PLEASE don't blur it out. I realize blood and gore must be removed, but I've watched several episodes where every second of footage was blurred. What's the point of watching this great footage if it isn't in focus? There's way too much good television these days, especially in hi-definition, than to be watching this type of poor quality video.
There are also shows that actually show the majority of this type of video in full definition. Plus they just drag out each episode. It could be so much better.
Ghost Adventures (2008)
Wow, 300 plus episodes...
I just watched my first (and last) episode of this show. It was absolutely horrible. I didn't even know the show existed, but the episode about Lake Mead piqued my interest. Within the first 3 minutes I wanted to turn it off. The main guy.. Zak? Was just an over dramatic (and fake) character. Everything he said was just to add shock value, when there was ZERO to be shocked about. They walk into a train tunnel at night and act like it's haunted? It's dark outside, yes. A tad eerie if you've never been there before.. Cameras and equipment "malfunctioning"? It was hilarious to watch. It felt like being in cub scouts and the camp leader telling VERY embellished ghost stories. Just funny. Not worth watching though. This was my last episode that I will ever watch.
Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies: What Remains (2022)
First two episodes good. This one, bad!
The first two episodes are so different from the the third. The first two seemed factual and honest. The third episode seems like fake scripted drama. I've got to give Casey Anthony props on her acting skills. Oh, she seems very fake, but the comedic part is hilarious. Every time she scowls or acts mad or surprised I admit it's fun to watch her. Plus the old guy she's living with is a funny actor as well. I watched VERY closely and NEVER saw an actual tear come from Casey or the old guy. Sure I saw some smeared water strategically place between shots, but I never saw an actual tear, or any honesty on Casey's part. I honestly wonder what kind of bottled tears they used, because they surely were not real.
Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies (2022)
Casey, I changed my mind...
With the way Casey talks about her dad and brother and just spews hate for NO reason.. I can't believe it! The dad says something about smelling Caylee's sweat, and Casey calls THAT sexual abuse of a child? Casey is so fake. She's a horrible interviewer. She's so fake and sugary sitting around the house with the old lawyer. Are we to believe them when they said... "Wow, we never actually sat down and talked about all of this until now" WHAT? Casey sat in that house for months hiding from the world and they never talked about the case.. with her lawyer? I never saw one tear leave Casey's eyes.. the tears "appeared" between camera angles, but not one tear came out of her eyes during the entire show. I also liked the fake grocery shopping scene within an empty store. I'm sure Casey will never be able to walk into any business and do normal things without being confronted by supporters of Caylee. Very fake and scripted show. Especially the 3rd episode.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
And I thought Wakanda Forever was bad..
This version of Ant-Man was just bad. So are we to believe that this entire story takes place in Hank Pym's basement, only at a microscopic level? The genius "peanut" builds a quantum realm device and finds the exact world that her grandmother lived in. Plus peanut helps the evil tyrant escape to the real world? (who knows? Who cares?). It's the third Marvel movie I've watched where I almost got up and left, and was thinking of the negative review I was going to write.. WHILE I was watching the movie. I kept looking at my watch wishing the ending would come soon. I reluctantly sat through the ending credits. I wish I wouldn't have.
Survivor: Absolute Banger Season (2023)
Another bad ending.
This season wasn't bad at all. In fact I was enjoying it.. until the last episode. People crying for no reason during speeches, and then the others join in with the tears. All the while sappy music is being played (almost scripted) into the background. The worst part (like many other seasons) was when the best player did not win. Heidi won the last two challenges and arguably played just as well as anyone else. Heidi should have easily won. I watched the entire season and I don't remember anything remarkable that Yam yam did. Other than acting silly and giggling and maybe being social, he wasn't a "Survivor" in the truest sense of the word.
Very Scary People (2019)
All over the place
This isn't a bad show, but it's all over the place. You can be watching one segment and it jumps to a totally different subject almost mid sentence. Then you have to figure out what they are talking about, and it's an upcoming segment, but they don't explain this. Then after watching an early segment, they go back and repeat it, almost word for word. It's like they are just filling in for time. The best way to watch this is by using the fast forward button. It's easy to cut two hours of show down to about 70 minutes. Skip the commercials and skip whenever Donnie Wahlberg speaks. He just repeats what has already been said or what's about to be said.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Memento Mori (2022)
This episode was just bad
I'll begin with the Enterprise using a brown dwarf to hide in. How many times has a Star Trek star ship hidden in a gas cloud, nebula, etc? Come on be original writers! Power systems go down and there's no way to reproduce medical supplies? No way to perform surgery? There's nothing on the ship to produce power for these systems? A generator, a hand phaser. Scotty could have done it. The long talk in the cargo bay, the mind meld DURING a flight in the shuttle craft, the doctor walking around but still able to donate plasma to his patient. The ridiculously close and narrow escape from about 5 or 6 different attacks or disasters. Bringing up Burnham, while we're all trying to forget her and that show? I hope it gets better.
Undercover Underage (2021)
Fake drama
This show has potential, but from what I've seen so far, it just another scripted and choreographed fake reality show. If these "investigators" are really as seasoned or hardened as they claim to be, they certainly wouldn't be jumping up and screaming OMG, the perp sent a nude photo!
Why are they "acting" so shocked? That's what the investigators do for a "living" or at least for this production. The "actors" need to at least make it look believable.
They could make this show good, but cut out the personal fake drama on the part of the cast. Catch the perps! Leave the drama out of it. It would be a much better show.
