Erkenci Kus (2018)
So addicting!!!
Absolutely the best RomCom series ever!!! I laugh, I cry, I swoon. It's just one of those shows that you will fall in love with every single character. Some you fall in love with right away and others kind of work their way into your heart. The chemistry between Saneem and Can is amazing. I've watched the series probably three times in a row and absolutely love it. I even love the music and purchase the soundtrack. Just try the first three episodes and I promised you will be totally addicted to this show. Watching the show, you actually feel the love between them. It's encompassing and beautiful.
One Royal Holiday (2020)
The acting was horid
The story line is great but broadway actors should never ever do movies unless they really know how to act.
The female lead was fake because she does broadway so it was so over the top. Took away from the movie. She is pretty but should stick to broadway.
The male lead was great. I've loved him in many movies.
Loves the cute story and I also love anything with royalty or in that area. Loved all the other royal Christmas movies where there is a prince.
But once again it was so hard to focus when the female lead is about to break out in the over dramatic annunciated dialog. So so bad.
Change the female lead and I would have given it 10 stars.
The Beauty Queen Killer: 9 Days of Terror (2024)
Hard to rap my head around it.
It was really hard for me to wrap my head around Tina's story. But I do have to remember, and I think everyone has to remember that this was a 16 year-old girl who literally was manipulated, tortured and sexually assaulted and felt her life was in danger every single moment she was with this monster. Many say that she was his accomplice but a child who is in a situation like she was in is going to do what she can to survive. Does she seem a little off now, yes. But I think anyone would feel that way now through what she went through.
Hard to believe this man got away for so long with these murders and no one could catch them even though they had his photo. This is also the prime example of women standing up for themselves and not being people pleasers or smiling and trying to appease someone and not be rude. Many of these women could've been alive if they just noticed the red flags and were ok with hurting this monsters feelings from the get-go.
It was fascinating, seeing the news stories and clips from the past, including all of the interviews with the victims and the victims families. I hope that anyone that went through this and survived is healing now or on their way to heal. Sounds horrifying.
Stalked by My Ex (2017)
It's not the worst.
The acting in the beginning was so bad that I almost stopped watching it. But, I stayed with it and the acting got better. Weird. The one thing that was hard to get past was the 30 year old actress with tons of forehead wrinkles playing a 15 year old. I mean.... it's not like they picked her because she's the best actress so then I would probably pick someone that's more in the age range and could act somewhat better. That part was just super annoying throughout the whole movie and it was hard to get into the movie because there was this old woman playing a 15-year-old that looked older than the mother. And the actress that played the mother was actually 20 years older than her but look the same age if not younger.
So, I guess basically what I'm saying is that the casting Directors that are really bad job.
The White Lotus (2021)
Extremely overrated.
Aside from being extremely overrated. The majority of the soundtrack is extremely annoying. I think I know what they were trying to do but it really did not come across correctly.
50% of the actors were great actors and the other 50% are horrible. I don't even know how they have careers.
Sabrina Impacciatore And Tom Hollander were great.
There were many awkward scenes and awkward acting in those scenes as if the actors didn't really understand what they were doing with the lines they were given. Some storylines were great and executed well. Some storylines were horrible but the majority of the time watching a lot of the episodes I just felt tense. Extremely tense and extremely annoyed.
The White Lotus: The Lotus-Eaters (2021)
It's Interesting
If you can get past the loud obnoxious music that plays throughout each episode, the story lines are interesting. Some characters are boring with subpar acting but others are outstanding.
The problem once again, is that the music is so loud that if you try to turn it down a little bit so you can get through the episode then when the characters start speaking again, you can't hear them. I'm not sure what they were trying to achieve with the loud music in each episode, but it definitely did not work.
There were times I was so vested in the story but it was abruptly ruined with...of course the music. I might be alone here but it was hard to envelop myself in each story due to that.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
You must have comic intelligence to get this Black Comedy
I thought it was brilliant but you really have to be smart to get the undertones of almost everything in the movie. The first thing I noticed that made me laugh is of course the title which is long and sarcastic. The second thing that made me laugh after the third time I noticed it was the handyman working on her mailbox every single day for the entirety of the series. Hilarious.
The exact way her daughter died which is humorous in its absurdity. I know that sounds strange but if you get it...you'll get it. There are so many other undertones that are sly and quick, but you really have to pay attention to get them. I thought it was absolutely brilliant because of all of these things.
If you're watching it and expecting it to be a drama and trying to feel those emotions for a drama then it's going to lack luster for you and go right over your head. If you're watching it for the true intent, which was the black comedy/drama, then you'll probably get it. But, you really have to do some thinking or you really have to appreciate the art of the production of the movie and how it was written. I did.
Be Somebody (2016)
Over Produced
I see what they tried to do but it was overly done. Tried to make it super artsy with the production, overly drawn out scenes with shaky camera and too much music. Overly drawn out moments of nothing with an expectation of something to come from it but mostly just done to create something cool visually. The direction and production just failed on an easily shot teen love drama trying to make nothing into something.
Over all, the acting wasn't bad. Espinosa didn't do terribly for his first film. I thought Jeffery was good. A little to many typical eye rolls but not bad. I just didn't feel their connection though the majority of the movie was overly done to make us feel the connection when it should have come from the acting alone. It's a cute movie though. I didn't hate it.
Blonde (2022)
I get what they try to do but it didn't deliver
I get what they try to do but it didn't deliver. First I could not detach myself from the fact that they didn't want to use any names specifically in the film as to show that it was exactly Marilyn Monroe other than the fact that they named the movies she was in. They said her first name Marilyn but they never said Monroe and they also never said any of the other characters names like Joe DiMaggio or Arthur Miller and also refusing to use any of the first and last names even on IMDb. They called Joe DiMaggio an ex-athlete. Also some of the acting seemed a little overdone like they were trying way too hard to act. The actress playing Maryland was phenomenal. She looked so much like Marilyn that it was absolutely 100% believable. There were a few moments where I could hear her accent but usually she was spot on. It was good to see that they showed some of the details of the bad parts of her life and how she was traumatized when she was younger by her mother. Which of course led to her wanting to be a people pleaser and always feeling insecure.
We all know the dirty side of Hollywood and of course this is going on a long long time ago. So we all kind of know that she went through what she went through when she auditioned. That was horrible to watch but the fact that a lot of that still goes on today is even sadder.
They really really overdid the word Daddy a little too much. In the sense of they made her use the word every five seconds in a sentence. I understand she called the man in her life daddy but normally, most people don't call someone by name or nickname in every sentence. As I said, a little overdone.
I felt as though the scene where she has an abortion was a little too graphic and unnecessary to get the point across. As I said before, some stuff was just a little over done for dramatic purposes but didn't really need to be there to show the trauma. I would definitely recommend watching it I just think that there were some parts that could've been left out.
I will say I did like the transition between black and white in color. I felt as though they were displaying the black and white was her presenting as Marilyn and when it turned into color it was her being Norma Jean. At least that's what I got from it.
The Princess (2022)
90% fighting and 10% acting
I just felt like the entire time it was her kicking ass which by the way was very cool and I love the fight scenes but 90+ percent of the movie was just that and after a while it's kind of boring and it loses its luster. I would've liked more on the storyline part and the dynamic between them than her just killing a bunch of guards. You have these amazing actors and you don't really get to see it. All you see is fight scene after fight scene after fight scene. Yeah, like I said it's cool, but sometimes too much of a good thing is bad.
