It's been too long since I watched season 1 so I'm just addressing season 2. By the way, I loved season 1. This time the main character goes off on his own when he feels like he can't trust anyone after a tragic fail. Meanwhile, Rose is working on a way to identify people and locate them while doing her job at her new company. It's been 10 months since she saw the main character. When something happens she is able to find him when no one else can. So they are together again and in just as much trouble as before. National security trouble, chemical weapons trouble, you name it. I was on the edge of my seat throughout. Nonstop action with only occasional downtime. So yes, action packed but still with a little time for Rose and her man to talk with just a few kisses. So much happens! It's engaging, suspenseful and off the charts scary for the people of NYC. You must go into it realizing that it's not going to make sense in the way things really could or would happen. Just watch and be entertained like I was. Don't question it!
My title says it all. This movie will never be up for awards on Oscar night, but then very few of my favorite movies ever are. I guarantee a movie full of action, but also one with a story. When done watching, I immediately thought that it was like watching a James Bond movie from a woman's point of view. Lots of violence and action but not so much death. I'm good with that and I do know that's not real life. I don't know about you, but I go to the movies(or watch one)to be entertained. I was entertained watching this. It perfectly fit my criteria of a way to enjoy a quiet midweek movie night at home. I should also add that it has a wonderful cast that includes Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx, Glen Close, and Kyle Chandler. It also leaves it open for a possible?sequel. Or not.
I really don't understand all the bad reviews. I'm a fan of the author and I've read most of his work. I don't remember names of books as I read too much so I went into this not knowing the story even though I knew I had read it. It didn't take long before I remembered, but had forgotten enough to enjoy it all over again. And since I watched it all in one sitting, I think I can say it was enjoyable. It's not Oscar worthy, but still an entertaining show. I thought the main actress did a really good job and there were plenty of others that I felt were good as well. There's a lot of angst involved but was justified. Some twists as well. Take a chance on this one if you enjoy police procedurals with a female detective. It's really not a bad effort as so many reviews are saying. I rated it 7 which means I thought it was pretty good.
