  • Barely passable

The show overindulges in 90's nostalgia, which will be that main magnet for most watching this show. At that, the show does well and feels authentic. It captures Mexico City's mood in that time pretty decently.

Why 5? It's probably a 5.5. The writing is poor, the storyline makes little to no sense. Feels mostly shallow, and like a soap opera - which is its biggest flaw in my view. Don't expect anything deep, which is a shame as it started pretty good.

Acting is mostly good, I'll give them that. Always good too see new faces with talent. But what's worse is the ending. Won't spoil it but not worth it.

  • An important yet disjointed look into the heart of Mexico

Poglovsky's documentary is a collection of disjointed pieces that document intimate bits of six Mexican states. Although it is an important film, which at times manages to capture beautiful images of rural Mexico, it suffers from a lack of rythm and kitsch imagery which reminds of a student project. Overall, it is a bit hard to follow, as it constantly moves without a clear sense of purpose or direction. Although it is far from being a great film, it is still worth a look. The music, which is mostly infrequent and used with varying efficacy, adds a lot of character to the movie. Not Poglovsky's best work.
