Jennifer Connelly looks beautiful and a knife in the heart feels better for Leo DiCaprio when he's happily pierced to death for the worth of the blood diamond and a last call his mystifying love interest who defies the conventional white wedding to stop the injustices done to the good African people like Djimon Hounsou who escapes with Leo's help and the blood diamond to win his case in court to stop the illegal smuggling of diamonds. It's nice to see a movie that shows what is really going on in Africa. Leo's accent seems too sentimental for the brunette he's always wanted and could never conquer without kissing up. It was a touchy subject that used mystification to handle and made it up there with Leo's most excellent performances. It was Jennifer Connelly's best!!! Compelling scenery deserving of Leo's fight and my vote for outstanding lead male. It was good that he didn't try to conquer her and supported her talent. It was filmed as if they didn't even know it and Leo acted like he just wanted his pillow. When he does win his Oscar I hope he knocks on my door to bust me out. i'm crazy about him!!!
Cherry blossom scene where three vampires are seducing LILITH'S first love to renounce his desire to be with LILITH the sacrificial victim, and be deceived into loving the lead female vampire in a castle where LILITH is tempted by fate when bitten on the neck by a SLASH look a like and killed for not taking a kiss from the temptress. This fantastical scene of making love in a bed of cherry blossoms and the highly erotic idea of a sacrificial victim got the film to the Sundance film festival in 1999. I liked this film better than the Astronauts Wife released the same year with Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron. " Friends At Twilght " was more romantic and dramatic. It ends with the temptress leaving her victim a stone and searching for her next victim. It transcended all time, space, and plane. When it played at the Malverne Theatre it got Fabulous reviews. It will be released on DVD if there is anyway Netflix can get this film from the Sundance archives. Submit your request to NET FLIX to transfer to DVD!!!
VERA FAMIGIA and LEO DICAPRIO in a bedroom scene that keeps us feeling as though we are invading their space. Scorsese accomplishes this effect with an invasive camera and the actors speaking quietly with low voices and closing in on LEO's psychological awakening degenerating into a sexual encounter with his therapist. I still feel that LEO's the protagonist in this film when asking for a cranberry juice, he seems as though he's trying to cut the female form for us and using his masculinity to pull it off at the same time. This created the dramatic need for VERA's character. I also feel favor towards the defense of his name being used only to explain himself to others, was a rejection to labels in society. Only MATT DAMON doesn't seem the type to need a label. I did not like that MATT had to play such an ordinary part. I think he deserves best supporting actor. It was so exciting to see the plot unravel to the Rolling STones soundtrack "Your'e just a shot away". It made an otherwise boring stupid scenario, seem envious and vengeful. I thought the the Director's intention with the cast showed that Scorsese deserves his reputation in cinema in that respect. Definitely an impressive film. Classic cinematography too! No, i'm not a homicidal ex only a paranoid fan. Here's to the auteur we all know and love.
