Stephanie Hsu is amazing. She should be in everything. And this is a great vehicle for her energy and magnificence. And. Zosia Mamet is also perfect. As a matter of fact, the casting is so spectacular it makes you wonder why they can't pull off the lame plot. Even. Michael angarano's valient attempt to steal the show doesn't salve it. The absurdity of the plot leaves the door open for some fun scenes but the direction and dialogue can't be saved by the earnestness of the great cast. And what's with all the bad facial hair. I hope the cast are friends in real life and got high and wrote this and threw this together. Then I give them credit for trying and pulling something off. Otherwise, I watched the while thing so it kept me interested. Therefore it's a 5 and not a lower rating. And please give Stephanie Hsu more more more parts and more jobs.
There is a fine line between humor and absurdity. I'm really enjoying this show. Bill Lawrence knows how to make a TV show. His characters are great I'm sorry for your loss and Zach Braff is fantastic this episode. Vince Vaughn who, lately plays Vince Vaughn, actually thrives in this show. His glib, Dry, Vince Vaughn delivery Works in this show. I hate that Apple releases an episode a week but I Found myself watching for this to come Out because I was excited about the next episode. That, is the mark of a great TV show. More Bill Lawrence. More bad monkey. My only complaint is narration. I imagine that's taken from the book which I have not read but narration to get you storyline is lazy writing but I will forgive it because I am enjoying the show so much.
This movie will not win any awards for acting, for writing, for directing, well, it might win a razzy. However, this was an enjoyable watch. The premise was goofy, the performances were over the top silly, and the delivery was cute and entertaining. The silly twists of the story interweaving anachronistic jokes and loaded with a spectacular cast makes this definitely worth the watch. It really is like a couple of friends sat down, got drunk, or stoned, and just spit bowling ideas for a silly movie based on a real story."how far can we push this?" The answer is in this enjoyable movie. Despite years on TV as the star of his own show Jerry Seinfeld has still not learned any real acting techniques but he's funny. As is Melissa McCarthy and Hugh Grant. And Fred Armisen, who does not have a big part, can do no wrong ever!
