Maybe the movie is a tiny bit familiar, which is why it can't be rated ten stars. Nevertheless, The Brass Teapot is a very, very good movie, both funny and thrilling, well directed, and super well written. The comedy isn't clichéd, the quotes are clever, and the two main character's give great performances. I started to guess the budget of this film, and I guessed maybe four million, five tops, when in fact it wasn't even one million, which is really, really impressive. The Brass Teapot contains several very funny scenes, but also has a serious side as well. There's some moral tucked within as well, but I don't judge movies based on that, but rather how entertaining they were, how much fun I had, and this one was a blast! I loved the dance scene in the beginning while The Clash's song was playing. Overall, a movie that maybe isn't entirely original, but is still unique enough to absolutely make it worth the watch, and Juno Temple is wonderful in this film.
It's kind of coming-of-age by the numbers, but to me that's absolutely fine. This movie has great directing, good acting, but the beautiful scenery steals the show. I loved the constant switches in between scenes. The movie also has some genuinely funny moments, topped of by a serious ending. It's themes and lessons are by no means unique, but the movie has this authentic quality to it that manages to make this one stand out. I might even watch this movie again sometime. I have to mention the most memorable scene. It's sort of a ritual-like dancing scene, there's something oddly special there. That's a scene worth re-watching multiple times.
I think the consensus is that anything released straight-to-DVD is gonna be so bad it's laughable, but that's not always the case to me (though admittedly I love movies in general, so anything decent is worth the time to me). Cruel Intentions 3 has a few good plot twists, some pretty decent acting, a super hot lead girl, and a really good ending. The only thing that kept me from rating this movie a 7 or an 8 was that some of the plot never really felt finished. At 80 minutes or so, this movie could have benefited from ten more minutes to answer these questions.
This movie is what you'd expect, it's nowhere near great but it's at least competent, and in my opinion worth watching once if you're a cruel intentions fan. If you liked the Wild Things sequels, Cruel Intentions 3 is along those lines.
