This movie was a nice attempt at remaking Shivaraj kumar and Murali starrer kannada movie Mufti...but turned out it could not create the impact it made in Kannada..it was a super hit in kannada but in tamil not sure....the protagonist put all his efforts though....but couldn't match the original in kannada which Dr Shivaraj kumar played eloquently...Simbu's previous movie was much better than this , sorry unable to recall the name of his previous movie.... however Simbu put all his effort to carry the movie on his own shoulder....even dubbing and editing were not crisp and felt like there was no continuity.
I watched the movie Dasara and Gurudev Hoysala on the same day, the stories somewhere touched on casteism. But watching Dasara i felt it was a drag but Gurudev Hoysala turned out to be crisp and a very neat screenplay with no lag or overaction anywhere. Glad i watched GuruDev Hosyala and what great action..both hero and villain were very promising and equal screen space...a great subject indeed and not a single boring moment....though this subject has been done so many times, but the twist is great and ending awesome...keep smiling Dolly Dhananjay...you are going great guns...proud of you and your body language...even the dialect of north karnataka was very well done and music and bgm and story and narration everything was top notch....!!!
For a movie rolled out in the year 1967, the grandeur and the kind of dialect used are enthralling. This movie with a talent pool of finest actors ensures you stay glued till the end. Wow...what an acting, body language by each and every stalwart of Kannada movie industry.RajKumar's body language, dialogue delivery and also the kind of well-toned body and the kind of confidence he exuberates is sure to give yesteryear's and even today's actors a run for their money. This movie has a sad ending but even in that sad ending you realize there is a lot to it to take home.Kannada film industry should be forever proud for making such a movie and Karnataka should be forever proud to have had a ruler like Immadi pulikeshi who longed for peace and friendship between states and countries.
