Eddie Redmayne is a master. He can emote the subtlest of emotion. This series had me absorbed from the beginning. It's not often I root for a hitman but I was cheering for him to succeed. Totally different story from the original. Loved this. Hated his wife and family but all played a good part. I was kept guessing throughout as to the MI6 leak. The human side of the Agent's family life was in my view an unnecessary side story. She is not a particularly likable character. The Afghan scenes were interesting.
The whole series is layered. The inventive gunsmith, the put upon exiRA mother were all intriguing and wonderful support actors. Overall one of the best shows currently streaming. Can't wait for series 2.

This had all the elements of a good old fashioned 'who done it'. Gorgeous scenery, super rich people living decadent lives full of secrets. An ensemble cast of some of my favourite actors. I was hoping for a crime caper a la Agatha Christie. It just however misses the mark. The main issues for me start with Nicole Kidman's face. It's so odd looking. It's a testament to her incredible acting talent that I could discern some of her emotions, given how devoid of expression it was. Please Nicole stop with the procedures. Isabelle Adjanji hiding under her age under her hair and thick makeup was very distracting. She looked plastic.
Some of the side plot lines were underdeveloped and some pointless. The 2 cop's investigative approach was implausible in terms of procedure but they were fun to watch. Meghan Fahy however was luminous as the best friend, lighting up the screen in every scene she appeared. She really stood out.
If you put all the negatives aside, this is an easy fun watch with lots of red herrings and all revealed by the final episode. It just could have been so much better. The fault I think lies in the script which lacks tension, with most of the characters superficial, but it's watchable and unchallenging.

If you like dark twisted drama this is for you. At its core it's a murder mystery, but it's so much more. It contains a number of highly developed strands examining depths of maternal love, rage, frustrations. Complex family dynamics between husband/ wife, siblings, friends, lovers, parent and child. Fine performances from all the actors. Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson outstanding as usual but all the supporting cast are equally impressive. One of the best depictions of adolescent angst and reckless emotional volatility I've seen on the screen.
Just for the drama alone and atmospheric cinematography alone it's worth watching, but the twists and turns as the murder investigation reveals keeps one on edge of seat. One of the best series I've watched in a long while. It smolders.
