Byôsoku 5 senchimêtoru (2007)
Another masterpiece from Makoto-san
Takaki and Akari are two classmates in elementary school. During their time together they have become close friends. Their relationship is tested when Akari moves to another city because of her parents' jobs. Both of them struggle to keep their friendship alive, as time and distance slowly pull them apart. When Takaki finds out that he is moving further away, he decides to visit Akari one last time.
' 5 Centimeters Per Second' is an anime movie directed by Makoto Shinkai one of the most genius anime directors of all time. The story is heartbreakingly sad just like all of the Shinkai movies I have seen until now (this one was my 4th). The movie has 3 parts which are divided into 3 seasons of life, the first part when you see sakura trees and spring tells about childhood and teenage years. The summer in the second season goes with young adult years. The fall in part 3 is the symbol of loneliness in adult years. Shinkai is one of the directors who has his style which is presented in all of his movies but without making them repetitive or boring, just like #ChristopherNolan who by the way gets some of his ideas from Shinkai's works. I could have told the movie is directed by Makoto-san even without knowing it just from his storytelling method and art styles. Distance (both time distance and physical distance), loneliness, and growing up toward a mature life are his story signatures. Also if you are a Makoto fan you expect to see some elements in his works which exist in this movie too. Trains which are the element of going forward and growing up, space elements like Jets and Rockets, and a few close shots of Japanese food are just some of his footsteps in his works.
The music and soundtracks are breathtakingly beautiful just like other Shinkai movies. It's like he is so strict about music and only works with the best. 5 Centimeters Per Second is not an exception too, especially the ending song '' One more time, one more chance '' by Masayoshi Yamazaki which goes so well with the ending.
Animation and graphics are beautiful and acceptable regarding 2007 standards and only a 5 million dollar budget for the movie.
Overall, if you are a fan of drama-romance anime this is a must-watch. If you are not familiar with the anime world or Shinkai's works, I invite you to give this a try, I believe it will make you watch all of his works.

Shena-ye Parvaneh (2020)
One of the few good movies in Iran's Cinema
There is an old saying " one moment of neglect leads to a lifetime of regret". Hojat (Javad Ezati) is a simple worker from a very disturbed family in Tehran's downtown. After a video is leaked from his sister in law, things go awfully wrong and leads to a tragedy.
Butterfly stroke or as it is mentioned in IMDB (drown) is the first non-documentary long movie from Mohammad Kart, a very talented young director who has done a lot of great efforts in picturing poverty and criminal history of Tehran. The story has been written really good, it has ups and downs, plot twists and a few surprises. Butterfly stroke is a movie that still has origins of Kart's documentary directing taste in it.
Casting is good and you can see some big names from Iran Cinema in it. Javad Ezati who has become the star of Iran Hits these days, shines in the leading role. Other acts are also good and above average in most of the times.
Kart's cinematography is good, it brings up the atmosphere of the film with itself and it shows how smart the director is in choosing the right angles. Music and soundtracks are good and on the beat but they are not something special to stick in your mind for a long time.
Overall, Butterfly stroke is a movie with themes that are really popular in today's cinema in Iran but it improved the idea and has some unique features. If you are a fan of real movies and you are familiar with the Iran cinema. I recommend it to you.

Watchmen (2009)
Superheros without regular clichés
A group of ex-heroes now abandoned and limited by governments lives in the shadows until someone starts to eliminate them one by one. Rorschach is one of these heroes that begins searching for clues to his old colleagues' murders. The story is one of the most powerful aspects of the movie. Plot twists are good and complicated enough to make it interesting. I have watched the ultimate cut and it had another story in the story that was visualized by animation and somehow related to the main story.
The cast is another great aspect of the film. Good actors like Jeffrey Dean-Morgan, and Patrick Wilson along with a whole crew of amazing cast is expecting you.
CG, art, costume design, music, and soundtracks are quite good, especially for a movie released 13 years ago. Zack Snyder did his best in converting one of the darkest and most complex comic books into a movie by being faithful to the books. The only setback, in my opinion, is the length of the film. 3 and a half hours even for an ultimate cut is long if you cannot balance the action and dialogs. This made watchmen a little boring in some places, as I said, it's not balanced so there is maybe an hour in the middle of the movie without much going but on the other hand, you have lots of new information in the last 15 minutes.
Overall, Watchmen is a good superhero movie without regular clichés. It can be worth your while if you are into the genre. But it could get boring sometimes in the middle of it.
Incredibles 2 (2018)
Fun experience, totally worthwhile
Following the events of the first movie, the Incredibles try to stop a new villain, but in the meantime, they make a mess of work and get arrested for it. The story of the second film is quite an interesting one. Although it is predictable, the idea of using the father as the housekeeper and caretaker of the children has well paid off which leads to a lot of humorous moments between him and the kids. One of the main focuses of the writers is on Jack-Jack who is now showing his weird but funny powers.
The cast is the same cast of the first movie with a few respectable additions like Bob Odenkirk as Winston Deavor. Therefore, with big names like Samuel L Jackson as the voice actors, you can have high expectations in that area.
Animations are wonderful. Like every other Disney/Pixar movie out there, you cannot even find a minority of errors in the animations and graphics part of the movie especially based on their huge investments in the market of animations.
Another enjoyable aspect of the movie is its Soundtrack. However, the main theme is still the same but the rhythm and the moments chosen to put a soundtrack on are perfect.
Overall, Incredibles 2 is a really good animation. Although the story is straightforward and without great hints like inside out or Coco, but still it's fun to watch especially with your family.
Agent Carter (2015)
Feministic plot but fun to watch!
'Agent Carter' follows the story of Peggy Carter after the events of Captain America: the first avenger (2011) which aired in 2015-2016.
Peggy Carter is an SSR agent who is now in deep sadness after the disappearance of Captain America in the ocean. With the ending of WWII, Agent Carter is transferred to New York city's SSR office. She is now limited to clerk jobs and nobody takes her seriously, however, after some of the darkest inventions of Howard Stark find their way to the Black market, Carter has to help Stark to clear his name and save the country.
The plot may not seem interesting in a few first episodes, but it will grow on you following the second half of the first season. Agent Carter is a loud voice of Feminism in the '40s. The show wouldn't hide its Feminism taste for a second. All male characters are totally below the female characters in very obvious exaggerated ways. I liked Agent Carter in CA:TFA and I liked her here. However, this exaggeration and insistence on bolding Feminine ruined the experience a little for me.
The cast is good, maybe the best perspective of the show. Hayley Atwell, James D'Arcy, and Dominic Cooper are just a few of these great cast their acts make the show quite pleasant to watch.
CG and music are not highlights of the show, but old jazz soundtracks and old camera filters are great ways to make you feel the 40s theme of the show.
Overall, 'Agent Carter' is a fun show to watch especially for Marvel fans. It's only 18 episodes but notice that it got canceled, so some questions are left unanswered.

V for Vendetta (2005)
a Story of suppression, dictatorship and rebellion
What is freedom? What is vengeance? Who would resemble a nation's long-suppressed anger and hatred of their government?!
'V for Vendetta' tells the story of a fictional England which had been suppressed by its newly formed government after a long dark era of disease and war with the USA. The story is the resemblance of many countries under dictatorship and suppression which we have seen throughout history, and definitely will see again. Dictators ruling by suppressing free media, omitting the opposite voices, curfews, killings, and tortures are not unfamiliar to us nor will be. From the darkest corners of this England rises a light, a vigilante names himself V. Someone for me was very much like assassins in the assassin's creed series in the video game world. The story is great, thrilling, mysterious, and also dark and violent at the same time. The script, however a little different from the comics is unbelievably perfect. Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving are the shining stars of the cast. Other actors were really good too in their roles.
The soundtracks are really good and were composed beautifully in harmony with the scenes. Overall, 'V for vendetta' is a great movie that wasn't appreciated in its time. I enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who likes dark drama.
Another Me (2013)
Not recommended
Life was calm for fay the girl with a lovely family and a routine sweet life until her nightmares become real and after an incident, her father becomes ill and she starts to see another of herself. The script starts quite well but very soon it becomes predictable and cliché. 'Another me' was the film debut of Sophie Turner which wasn't a shining debut at all. The cast is below average with really weak acts which in my opinion is the fault of the director. The music and soundtracks are mediocre but in a few cases irrelevant to the scene. The genre of the movie as mentioned in IMDB is Mystery and thriller, well, to be honest, it didn't thrill me at all. And the mystery was quite obvious for a regular cinema fan.
Overall, 'another me' was a low-budget movie that grossed hardly half a million. It does not have anything special to be mentioned or any specific feature to be proud of itself. I can recommend it to you only if you are in the fandom of Sophie turner other than that do not try it, it's a waste of time.

A History of Violence (2005)
Straightforward story and good actings
Tom Stall is a middle-aged family man in a small town living his perfectly calm and boring life, but an act of violence in response to an assault on his diner changes everything and brings up a lot of new troubles from his past long-forgotten life.
The story is straightforward and to the point and doesn't bore you with small details. Focusing on the act of violence and how its effects will haunt you all your life is the major point writers wanted to reach. The selection of cast is good but you can think of a few better choices for some roles. Although I am a huge fan of Viggo Mortensen, without any prejudices I'm going to say that he did a hell of a job in this role and was the perfect selection for the job. The soundtracks are mediocre but totally in sync with the moments.
Overall, 'A history of violence' was an honorable movie for me after a lot of movies that didn't worth doing a critique on. If you are looking for a straightforward movie without routine clichés. This would be a good choice for you. I recommend this one.

Jigeum uri hakgyoneun (2022)
Messy but acceptable
'All of us are dead' is the latest Korean sitting on top in Netflix shows which have been dominated by Koreans for a couple of months in most countries. Whether you are familiar with K-drama or you are just getting to know about it after the #squidgame pandemic and giving it a chance just like me, this show has so much to tell. The plot is not perfect and has a lot of holes in it that some of it will be probably answered in next season, however, for someone with a lot of Zombie movies, shows, and games experience, the characters seemed a bit stupid at the start, some of the deaths are badly written. But when you stop comparing them to let's say badass characters of other shows like #Thewalkingdead, they seem a lot more realistic. So bear that in mind that these characters are just a bunch of high school kids with no experience or proper weapon at hand. The story starts with a virus outbreak in a high school and covers a lot of different characters without a leading role. With all the explanations 'All of us are dead' has a messy but proper and thrilling plot. The casting is good. I believe that most of the actors & actresses are new faces but they did the job quite well. CG and computer effects are good mostly but in a few scenes, it's not very clean. The soundtracks and sound effects are good and it brings a sense of fear to the show. The opening is one of the positive points and it's innovative.
Overall, 'all of us are dead' is a brutal and thrilling zombie show with an acceptable plot and good choice of cast. If you are looking for a fun zombie show that tastes like K-drama, it can be a good choice for you.
Rough Night (2017)
A fun movie to watch with your friends
'Rough night' is the story of a bride and four of her friends going for a Bachelorette party in Miami but after the entrance of a man to their gathering, things go terribly wrong. The plot is a really simple partying goes wrong, but quite fun and with little twists that are predictable but makes the movie not so much easy to guess. There are various fun and humorous moments in the movie that made me laugh so much. The casting is great. Good names like Scarlett Johanson as the leading role prove that you watch good plays from the cast. The film may seem a bit feminist but well it's a Bachelorette party movie. Pieces of music were very well chosen for different moments. Make-ups and choice of clothes were quite synced with the harmony of the film too.
To be honest, I'm not a great fan of comedy movies but it was such a while that I laughed at a movie this much. If you are looking for a fun movie for yourself or to watch with friends. This is the right one for you.
Constantine (2005)
Still one of the best ones out there
'Constantine' follows the story of John Constantine a demon hunter and kinda exorcist. Different behavior from a demon in one of his cases grabs his attention and destiny puts him in a new case to help a detective with the suicide case of her sister. The plot is one of the strongest ones following celestial beings and fantasies around them and is inspired by Constantine comic books. The cast is good and the acting grabs your attention. Although I am a fan of Mr. Keanu Reeves, in this particular role, I prefer Matt Ryan as John Constantine who brought up a more charismatic and fun part of the character with an attractive British accent. Cinematography is amazing in a few scenes and nails you to your couch. The sound effects are good and the soundtracks are on the beat with every minute of the movie. Costume design and makeup are very realistic and another positive point to this film.
Overall, Constantine was a huge movie in its time and a really good movie after 17 years. I recommend it to you especially if you are a fan of fantasy especially religious/ celestial fantasy/action movies.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
Monsters universe at its best
Well following the Monsters universe, I watched 'Godzilla: the king of Monsters'. To be honest, I was really surprised that how good it is. I never would have imagined that it would be such an improvement to Godzilla (2014) and kong: skull island. Starting with the story, the US government wants to shut down the MONARCH and wants to eliminate all monsters that have been discovered. Meanwhile, a scientist (Vera Farmiga) builds a device that can be used to make contact with monsters using sounds but she get abducted by a terrorist group and now the device is in the wrong hands. The plot follows a sensible path and reaches a thrilling peak in the middle of the movie. I believe that the writers wanted to show the true potential of the universe in this movie playing all their cards, and I believe they were successful doing this. Choice of the cast is truly epic and expensive with some of the cast from the last movies and adding a few known actors and actresses like Vera Farmiga (from conjuring movies) and Charles Dance (from Game of Thrones). Sound effects are at their best and the film is full of them. Music and soundtracks are very good too and used at the very best moments. CG and graphic visuals are another important part and I couldn't find any problems regarding that matter.
Overall, this movie is really good and I recommend it if you are a fan of sci-fi movies. It has done all the elements with only a few mistakes that can be ignored.
Road to Perdition (2002)
An above-average gangster movie
'Road to Perdition' follows the story of Mike Sullivan (Tom Hanks) an Irish mobster and his son back in 1931. The plot is based on revenge but it also includes a lot of father/son drama. Costume design is perfect in a way that without any mistakes reflects the clothes and wearings in the 30s. The movie has cast really big names but to be honest Tom Hanks (however I'm a fan of him and admire his works) feels kinda miscast in his role. It doesn't feel right to see him as a cold-hearted hitman. But other than that we have really good acts. I felt nothing special about the soundtracks and sound effects felt a bit below the standards.
Overall, 'Road to Perdition' is a good movie it has enough drama and a good story especially if you like gangster movies.
Serpico (1973)
A battle with corruption
'Serpico' is the story of a young cop who tries to save his integrity in a corrupted law system. The plot is simple as that but it has been programmed perfectly. The cast except the great Al Pacino is certainly mediocre. You can say even from the first 15 minutes of the film that Al Pacino is carrying the whole weight of the acting on his shoulders. There is nothing special about the music and the soundtracks are below mediocre. The film is more than two hours which can bore you after the first hour.
Overall, this isn't a masterpiece like most old Al Pacino movies but it is certainly a good movie, especially for Al Pacino fans.
Kong: Skull Island (2017)
Kong's entrance to monsters universe
Kong: Skull Island is a new narration for the old story of King Kong, in other words, it's kind of an introduction of kong to the monsters' universe. The story begins with two scientists who gather a military crew, a photographer, and a tracker to set foot on an uncharted island which they discovered its existence by satellite photos. The plot has nothing special, no twists, and is predictable. As for the cast, I believe gathering a team of the expensive cast like Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, and Brie Larson paid off. Music and soundtracks were nothing worth mentioning but the sound effects were perfect. A lot of scenes were built by CG which are good and sometimes more than good.
Overall, this is a high-budget sci-fi movie with a lot of CG that is worth your while if you are into this fictional genre. Other than that if you look for more drama like in Jackson's king kong movie or a movie with high standards in case of artistic values, you're totally in the wrong place.
🎥⭐ 7/10.
The Frog (2020)
A step forward between Iranian shows
I finally finished "the frog" after a long break from it which happened for no reason. The story starts with 3 delinquent youngsters who accidentally find a gun and decide to use it for a burglary. As they enter the house things go wrong and that's where the story begins. I didn't watch a lot of Iranian series only a few famous ones and rarely finished them. However, I finished this one not to mention after a long pause and in the end, I'm kinda confused about it. The frog can be named as a step forward in the iranian tv show industry for many reasons. The story is unique and away from ordinary clichés between Iranian shows but not among other shows, it reminded me of Jessica Jones in some aspects. The plot was good overall with good twists and surprises but it had some holes in it which in some cases we don't know is because of a season two or it was a mistake. There were also a few innovations like using surrealism and perspectives. Cinematography is inspired by "Mr. Robot" and in some scenes, it has been filmed perfectly. The use of some amateurs in the cast damaged the series but the professionals like Navid Mohammadzadeh and Saber Abar did their best to the point of perfection. Music and soundtrack is the only perfect aspect of the show and it matches the atmosphere of the story.
Overall, the frog is a really good show between Iranian series but I don't believe that it is the best one. If you want to taste a different Iranian show which is close to American ones it could be your next watch listed one. To be honest, I don't regret watching it for the intro track alone, however, I don't think that in case of a season two, I continue watching.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)
A promotion for the show
This movie includes a few episodes of the clone wars show as a promotion. The story follows the attack of the clones and happens during the clone wars where the baby of Jabba the Hutt has been stolen and it is Anakin who is chosen for the rescue mission along with his new padawan Ahsoka. CG and animations may seem weird at the beginning but you'll get along with it as the story goes. IMO it gets the job done and excites you for the show. Music is the same star wars theme we have been used to hearing and voice actors did the job fairly.
Halo: The Fall of Reach (2015)
Terrible animations
Well, now that the Halo series is finally around the corner and only 2 months away, I've decided to watch Halo: the Fall of Reach. The first thing I should mention is that this is a low-budget mini-movie and is only 65 minutes. The story goes deep into project Spartan-II and where are they originally from, especially Spartan 117 or the great master chief. CG and animations are weak and terrible for a movie in 2015. However, since it is a low-budget movie maybe you could ignore it. Music except the famous Halo soundtrack has nothing to offer.
Overall, there is nothing much to say about this movie if you are a real fan of the halo it can be recommended. Other than that don't waste your time because you probably won't make it through the first 10 minutes.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
A fan service star wars
The rise of the skywalker is the latest movie in star wars lore (for now) and to say that it could be a hell of a lot better than that, wouldn't be so wrong, but it was an ok but mediocre star wars like the last one. The story starts with the heroes of the third trilogy especially Rey and how she practices and has some kind of problem with the balance of the force. And continues with the rising of an old villain of the series and the final battle between resistance and the emperor forces. The first half of the movie was quite boring for me and I had to stop four times to drink coffee and not to fall asleep. However, the second half was better and it gave the chance of seeing some of our favorite characters from the saga for the last time. Soundtracks and music are some of the best points of the movie which brings up the nostalgic sense of star wars. CG is really good too and I couldn't find any problems regarding that matter. The cast has grown more into the characters over the years and their performances have become almost perfect especially Oscar Isaac & Daisy Ridley.
Overall, the ninth episode of star wars is a good and essential movie to watch for the fans but unfortunately, it's not a masterpiece which could become one and if you are not familiar with the lore I don't recommend it.
Yôkoso jitsuryoku shijô shugi no kyôshitsu e (2017)
Interesting characters + great voice actors
So classroom of the elite (2017) is a really interesting anime the first season was released in 2017 as a promotion to the light novel and damn it was successful that time. Recently I found some time to watch it myself. Tbh it is a good anime with really well designs and an interesting story which is its bright side. Opening and ending were not something gripping so after two or three episodes I skipped them. Voice actors were quite good and well cast, I couldn't find a single character with the wrong voice choice or any other problems on that matter. The story includes good characters with no backstory at all so so times will come that it may surprise you. But on the downside, if you are into animes especially high school animes with a psychological theme you can guess what is going to happen so no it doesn't have a 100% unique story but it has its originality too.
Overall, classroom of the elite may not have a unique story but due to its character development and some twists, it is worth the time. However, beware that 5 years have passed and still there is no solid news about the second season.
Youkoso jitsuryoku shijou shugi no kyoushitsu e (JAP)/
Classroom of the elite

The Father (2020)
Another masterpiece from sir Hopkins
The father is a movie that turns around Anthony, a role played brilliantly by Sir Anthony Hopkins who won the academy award for it. Anthony is an old man who is suffering from Alzheimer's. The story follows him through sometimes but it is masterfully manipulated by the script and edits making the film somehow complicated to understand at least for the first watch. It does not have many soundtracks but the few have done the job perfectly by Ludovico Einaudi. Actings are perfect other than Sir Anthony Hopkins himself others have done a great job at making the father a really powerful drama.
Overall, the father is a really good movie if you are into the drama genre that with a strong script probably gonna make you cry.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
One of the good ones
Well, I'm going to say the last thing first! I loved this movie even though I'm not a fan of the star wars franchise! I found all star wars movies boring for me but not this one. Solo has an amazing cast full of famous actors and actresses who did an amazing job, especially woody Harrelson. Music is kinda the same old same old with a few changes. The script is amazing a very gripping story that unlike what I thought before watching is not only about Han, but it gets the job done about being a prequel. CG was really good and some scenes were breathtaking.
Overall, For the SW fans, it's a must-watch, and for the others, it's a really good movie to watch.
Elektra (2005)
One of the weakest marvel movies.
Well tbh Elektra is not a good movie at any measurement. On the good side, well action scenes are not bad but CG is very outdated if you watch this in 2022. Jennifer Garner is the only positive point of the movie who did a good job at playing the role for the second time (first time was in daredevil 2003). On the bad side, we face a lot of poor choices in other cast. The story is very fast paced and nothing makes sense tbh. Music and soundtracks is not really catchy and don't make me start on other aspects of it.
Overall, I believe you'll enjoy it only if you're very much into comics and especially Elektra herself or you are a huge fan of Jennifer Garner, other than that don't waste 99 minutes of your life.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
A mediocre conjuring but a good horror movie
'Devil made me do it' is the latest movie from conjuring universe and although it has the essence of previous movies, it cannot be compared to the first and second movie by no means. Patrick and Vera are still on their best. Music was not fantastic but it gets the job done. Jump scares have become less but right on time. The story is not bad at all but maybe it lacks the grasp and challenge the first 2 conjuring had. Overall, the 3rd conjuring movie is not good as 1&2 but it is very much of a better movie than prequels and spin-offs like the nun.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)
Another video game adaptaion failure
I have only one message to Hollywood. Please stop making resident evil movies and ruin our memories when you can't even choose a cast similar to game characters! And stop twisting and changing the main stories because you will disappoint the fan. Seriously, worst movie I have seen in years. To all RE fans out there just leave this mess of a movie and pretend it doesn't exist.
