B movies can be great fun! This is not that type of B movie. A few giggles that were certainly not intended aside (as it was because it was so stupid in parts), the script is bland. Acting is, again, what you expect from nobody in particular casting. Writing/Direction is nothing to write home about either. Not fun, bland, and derivative. I wanted so much to have fun with this, but I simply couldn't. No replay value. It is just a bad move. Glad to see practical effects, and they are fine. Nothing special about them, and the camera work helps hide the effects flaws for the most part. Static mask, but you don't see "Popeye" all that much (and it is always dark anyway).
For me, this was a letdown. The writing was not great at all. Overacting was pervasive (probably encouraged) and plainly: boring. The entire thing was extremely boring. Cinematography was nice. But a couple hours looking at the Mona Lisa gets boring too. Not really a "vampire" movie, is my ultimate complaint, I guess. I enjoyed the original far more than the reimagining of the original. Lily-Rose Depp's line delivery was okay, but her body movements are just weird and off-putting. Inexperience I suppose. Wilem did his best, but some of his lines are just terrible. Aaron was believable throughout and stole the show in my opinion. I never even heard of him before this.
Several years ago, I used to laugh and enjoy Katt Williams' comedy. The last two specials have been particularly unfunny for me. Not a smile crossed my face the entire time. I actually felt like I was talking with and trying to get away from the office gossip/conspiracy theorist! I just wanted to get away! Not funny, and cringe worthy. Blind football should have been sad, but he made fun of it. I get the point of his comments, but if you are going to do it... it HAS to be funny. It really wasn't. Two specials in a row for me, and this is my last attempt to watch Katt. It was that bad. Fond memories of previous years past, but today's Katt is sad and not at all funny. Preachy and just weird subject matter throughout. Was just a weird commentary about "facts" (again) and the "truth" (again). He didn't fall on his stool after every single punchline like last time, so that was an improvement. Let's face it: The entire comedy special was more like an uncomfortable conversation with someone you get the feeling you don't really like and want to get away from the entire time. I just wish I had pressed STOP or maybe even not PLAY at the very start. There came a time that Jerry Lewis was not on my play list... that time is now for Katt.
