Otajmat (2021)
This show is so funny from start to finish.
Katta aka Katta Katastrof is a lovable, clumsy, well-meaning teen who is often her own worst enemy. After a particularly embarrassing moment in front of her class, she makes a birthday wish for the ability to turn back time and reverse embarrassing situations. Her wish is granted in the form of a phone app that allows you to turn back time for a few minutes. It's too late to reverse the earlier embarrassment, but she sets out with her new "super-power" to navigate the difficult social drama at school. This creates many funny situations and even with her new power, Katta sometimes manages to screw things up. Actress Molly Persson becomes Katta (don't call her Katinka) and shines in the lead role. The supporting cast are pretty terrific too. There is a reason this show has such a high rating. It's so much fun and truly funny. Highly recommended.
H3L (2019)
School drama done right.
The Dutch know how to do these school dramas. The stories are realistic, relevant, and interesting. The characters have actual depth to them and are not just the stereotypical nerd vs. Jock vs. Popular kid, etc. And while the individuals remain true to their own specific character, they can also surprise you.
The story centers around a group of students in the same mentor les - H3L. The teacher is passive and tries too hard to befriend the kids, so they pretty much run over him. Many different topics are explored through the students such as drugs, sexual orientation, mental health, and even death. This is not a sanitized story as is so common with similar shows in the U. S.

A Beautiful Film
This is a beautiful film in many ways and I am so glad that I watched it. I miss the time when Disney used to make films like this. (Theirs all seem to be animated and/ or super power / fantasy now.) I will definitely be looking for more German films like this to enjoy.
De regels van Floor: Oppas (2021)
My favorite
I've seen all of the episodes of De Regels van Floor. This is my favorite episode. The role-reversal is brilliant! This show just keeps getting better.
De regels van Floor (2018)
I'm so glad I found this
I've recently begun studying Dutch and was looking for a show to watch. I started watching this show and couldn't believe how funny it is! This show combines humor for kids and adults in a way that no US comedy that I know of will do. It is so much fun to watch. And not only is it a laugh a minute, but I'm sure my Dutch will improve tremendously by the time I'm caught up on all of the episodes. No doubt I will watch every one.
Regel nummer een: watch De Regels van Floor!
The Fault in Our Stars (2014)
3 Stars for Shailene Woodley
I would have given this film one star except Shailene Woodley is an excellent actress. I was first very impressed with her performance in The Descendants. But then I was simply blown away by her performance in Spectacular Now, which was a fantastic film. So when I saw this movie got over 8 stars, I had high hopes. Those hopes were quickly dashed.
This film is one long cliché. Every scene you feel like you've seen 100 times before. And except for Woodley (who they must have paid boat loads of money) the cast was not good. Woodley's parents were so miscast, I felt like they must have walked out into the hallway and grabbed the first male and female actor to walk by. Contrast this to the relationship between Miles Teller (son) and Jennifer Jason Leigh (mom) in Spectacular Now which was an amazing look at a mother-son relationship. Woodley's parents were more like placeholders to deliver the proper cliché at the proper moment.
And the fact that Woodley's character seemed to be near death in every other scene just telegraphed the fact that it was the boy who would be the one to die. I knew nothing of this story, but that was so obvious to me almost from the first scene. And OMG, the slow clap after their first kiss! That was so cheesy I cannot find the right words to describe it.
I will continue to be a fan of Shailene Woodley. But in the long- term, this film will be one she would like to forget.
