Just saw this one off cable PPV. Another one of those cheesy horror movies I assumed. This one was priceless! I would have to watch this movie more than once to get all the jokes. The dialog was absolutely hilarious and you have to listen carefully to hear it all. It starts really going once they get to "Housechusetts" or whatever it is. The sex-related jokes had me almost in tears.
Oh yeah, also loved the "town meeting" of vampires. And the "veiled" Wal-Mart commentary.
The actors did a great job and probably took a lot of showers during the making of this movie. But the WRITING was what made this film really shine. I will watch for more from these people, they are going to make it big in Hollywood some day. They certainly deserve it.

Wow.
What an awful movie. Another PPV where I wasted $3.89 of $3.99. This "horror" movie was about as scary as watching "Care-Bears". I kept waiting and waiting for something scary to materialize but finally gave up after an hour. Nothing that even the filmmakers intended to be scary happens for some 30 minutes. Unless you count catching a glimpse of a bald albino man scary.
You can hardly understand the characters for a lot of the movie because they are wearing gas masks. But what dialog I could catch was silly. They spend a *huge* amount of time walking around a building finding - absolutely nothing of interest.
When you see the bald albino man the filmmakers think it is scary to show some edited cut shots of him opening and closing his mouth. When the actors run away from this guy they run so slowly it's like a fast walk.
Cable PPV is really screwing us. I watched an even worse movie last week called "Hell's Tomb" which made this one almost look fair. This one at least was made with some production values whereas "Hell's Tomb" was made by what looked like high schoolers. Maybe that was being mean to high schoolers.
Avoid this mess. Ditto "Hell's Tomb".

I never saw this in theaters which I understand was pretty much what happened to it when it first debuted. I discovered it later as a rental. I loved it then and still love it now years later. I guess since it is a deliberate retro it can't really get dated like other movies.
I had no real problems with any of the acting jobs, each actor filled the role he/she played well. I always wondered why Bill Campbell didn't seem to go much further after this? Fun to see Terry O'Quinn as Howard Hughes before his "Lost" years.
This movie makes you feel good. An unpretentious and straightforward action flick, one of the best in that category. It is so amazing how movies like this can be made without needing overwhelming effects, big-name stars, sexual suggestions, or gore. I wish Hollywood could do this more often (and who would've expected this from Disney? - not any more).
The soundtrack main theme was wonderful as well, I think I've even heard it in some other movie (not sure how that could've happened). Rent this and watch it with the family, it is well worth it.
