I was fortunate enough to catch this at Louisville Supercon with Andre, Ashley, & Ryan presenting. The whole scene was surreal. But even separated from the event itself; I fell in love with this documentary.
It isn't a 'making of', though there are wonderful behind the scenes from the perspective of cast, crew, and peeks into the truly *epic* creature design. It isn't a 'biopic', though there is some heartful insight on the people within & behind 'The Monster Squad'. It isn't just a 'fan tribute', though I found out about other artists who love the Squad just as much as I do, entire collections of memorabilia, and limited run festivals that I *really* wish I had been a part of and will be keeping a closer eye on in the future.
This, overall, is just a fun love-letter to folks who really love the 1987 film.
And it's directed by 'Sean' himself.

In the same way that Firefly paid homage to space-adventure genre, particularly Star Wars, while still being entirely it's own thing. This clearly pays homage to Blade Runner, particularly in the ways that it marries Film Noir and Cyberpunk but updates its pace and complexity for modern audiences.
The amount of subtle (and at times not so subtle) nods to the works that inspired it; from episode titles, to casting choices, and even the soundtrack... it's obvious the creators adore the sandbox they're playing in.
Highly recommend this show to any fan of sci-fi, noir, crime/detective, or action.
