This review is from an American perspective.
Ho Ja Mukt is an incredible journey on a variety of levels. It is hard hitting and yet introspective at the same time. It explores family dynamics that seem to exist worldwide with a fresh perspective.
But the focus of the film, depression, is explored with a depth rarely seen in modern cinema. In some scenes, you can almost feel the pain that the lead character, Vicky, is so intensely experiencing.
Perhaps the most surprising (and effective) aspect of the film is how the story is packaged (and energized) by the music and dance elements.
Highly recommended.
