Sluga narodu (2015)
hard to swallow
The lead actor is likable, very much so, almost a saint. No wonder he was actually elected President of Ukraine after this series. And now? He's a multimillionaire with villas in beautiful countries. Am I the only one who finds this hard to swallow? How much hypocrisy is allowed before one disqualifies oneself as an ordinary human being? Corruption is the central theme. Fighting corruption is his strength. And in reality, did he become a billionaire through comedy? Certainly not. Besides that, all actors play extremely well and the setting is very convincing. However, there are limits for everything. This mockery of moral is crossing the threshold.
Napoleon (2023)
Not my cup of Napoleon!
Napoleon Bonaparte is not historically known as being taciturn or introverted. On the contrary, he was noted for his strong personality, charismatic presence, and his ability to influence people through speeches and writings. Napoleon was a skilled orator and a strategic thinker, which aided him in gaining and maintaining power.
He was known for his energy and drive, which set him apart on the battlefield and in politics. His extensive correspondence and numerous speeches demonstrate a person who actively and directly expressed himself and was very capable of communicating his thoughts and strategies.
However, his leadership style and behavior in private settings might have been perceived by some as reserved or even aloof, which could be mistakenly interpreted as introversion. But overall, historical records suggest he was more extroverted and expressive.
This film shows Napoleon as a reactive, almost phlegmatic guy. He always just did what others told him. Take this city, return to France (from Egypt), become emperor, get a divorce, start a war against Russia, and so on. Aside from being a mass murderer, he also seems kind of boring in that way.
Blue Beetle (2023)
Where is the fast forward?
Every demographic now has its own superhero film. Regardless of how frequently certain elements have been recycled, they can be reshuffled and infused with cultural motifs. If you're a fan of leisurely-paced, lighthearted action intertwined with strong familial themes, you might appreciate this emotional blend. Personally, I found it overwhelming.

Murder Mystery 2 (2023)
Can't watch her anymore
Jennifer Aniston is 54 in this movie and unfortunately she went down the Uma Thurman way: She had rigid face surgery, changing her appearance beyond recognition. Frankly speaking, that completely ruined the movie for me. I went into a Jennifer Aniston movie - but that woman doesn't look like Jennifer Aniston anymore, I honestly believe ANY actress with a slight resemblance could have done the job. Besides that, the movie follows the usual part-2-pattern: more of the same, which is a bit boring. They overdid it. Will never watch a Jennifer Aniston movie again. Adam Sandler did a good job, but couldn't save the flick.
Medieval (2022)
Zizka was a mass murderer
The English version of Wikipedia remains silent about Chomutov, but in the German version the fact is described: Zizka had all the 2500 citizens of Chomutov killed for believing the wrong stuff. Sorry, but glorifying a mass murderer in such a movie is unacceptable. The first 15 min of Medieval are good, after that it is all about a not so pretty girl which needs to be protected. I found that highly irrelevant and boring. Michael Caine is, as usual, an asset but can't save the movie. Schwill Tiger (a joke) is not as bad an actor as he normally is, but again, all that can't save that movie from being disappointing.
Black Adam (2022)
Boring
I love the actors, but the movie is simply boring. All the expensive CGI I have already seen many times. But is there a touching story? No, there isn't. They desperately try to construct one, but the "surprising turns" are both foreseeable and constructed. Why has Hollywood unlearned to tell touching stories? If any of these characters would live or die, I couldn't care less. Its all kind of mechanical. Even the three boys I took to the movie (all 13 years old) didn't lose a word about the story while driving home in a car. They simply didn't care. So much different from the real Shazam! Movie!
Hinterland (2021)
Backdrop
The backdrop destroys everything. Last time I have seen that ultra-cheap backdrop was in Czech-Jules-Verne-movies from 1970. Gives me the feeling the actors are acting in front of a white canvas. What a waste!
