One of the most realistic and underrated post apocalyptic films ever made. The film's emphasis on the dark side of American civilization right after a global catastrophic event is absolutely mesmerizing. Theft, lawlessness, violence and even sexual violence are portrayed quite realistically-- especially for a film made in the year 1962.
One of the reason why post apocalyptic films are so popular is because it allows the audience to see the nature of human beings when there is no law and there is no government.
Ray Milland directed and starred in the film with great acting from Frankie Avalon and Joan Freeman.
