This movie is what Christmas is all about - about being better than who you are and that people are better than they seem. My family and I discovered this film years ago on TV and it remains one of our favorites at Christmas time. It has no Arny (Jingle All The Way) or Jimmy (It's A Wonderful Life) or Michael (Jack Frost) or Bill (Scrooged) or Tim (The Santa Clause's) or Edmund (Miracle on 34h Street) or Jonathan (I'll Be Home For Christmas) or Richard (Miracle On The 34th Street 1994) - the other great Christmas films I like - but it does have warmth, caring, compassion, redemption and above all the most important feeling - about caring for others first before yourself. When you care and give without expecting back you reach a state or nirvana and for most of us Christmas allows us to do what we would like to do all year around but can't because "circumstances" prevent us.
I recommend this film to those who still share the wonderment that is Christmas, who would like to share it again after losing their way and to those who still are young at heart. The plot is irrelevant, the acting is excellent and the message is clear - It is better to give than to receive. Goodness is it's own reward.
