Joey (2004)
Joey, a great show with a familiar character
Hey Friends fans! It is obvious why you tuned in to Joey, because you loved him on Friends. It is certainly why I started watching it. But saying it lacks the "chemistry" of Friends is like saying Frasier lacked lacked the "chemistry" of Cheers. They are supposed to be different. I normally think spin-offs suck. This is a general rule when deciding to watch anything. With a few exceptions, and Frasier being one of them, they just don't possess anything special. But Joey is one of the exceptions. Just like Frasier, they took him out of his comfort zone and have given us a new cast to familiarize ourselves with. As these characters develop so will the way the show touches us. They couldn't have done the great "we were on a break" scenes in Friends if they hadn't developed the relationship first. This show will be special as long as Matt Leblanc wants to continue having fun as Joey. I am already loving the way he acts with Drea de Matteo and Paulo Castanzo. They are learning those killer comedic facial expressions that make us love these shows. I foresee a romance brewing between Joey and Alex...of course, they will do the typical sitcom thing and cause all kinds things to go wrong first, like getting into other relationships when they think the other isn't available. No, none of it is original. This is a tried and true formula that all sitcoms follow. It is also why most of them fail. But Joey is different. He is special, and they have really given him a great, if not relatively unknown, cast to be special with. Sure the occasional cameo will happen, does on every show. Great ratings booster. The terrific thing is, I really don't think this show needs it.
Super Sucker (2002)
Funny.....because I live it
No this was no great achievement in cinema and would certainly never win any awards. But I am a "vacuum cleaner salesman." And it was so accurate it was obscenely funny. Now I have never sold anything for self-pleasure but the idea that it would boost sales to the level they achieved makes me want to consider my own "homemakers little helper." Hey, sex sells. Some of the more accurate statements made: "Negativity: we deny its very existence." And "Hello, my name is (your name here) and I'm POSITIVE!!!! Anyone who has ever done any type of sales job will appreciate the constant bits of hilarity and already know that "nothing is as important as winning a contest!" Cult classic, at least in the sales world.
The Day After Tomorrow (2004)
Special effects nice...the "hidden" message...garbage
Oh the liberal ideology in this election year. If it wasn't for the special effects, I would have turned that load of crap off. Once again it is Americans fault for being prosperous the world over. And Mr. Emmerich makes sure we pay this time. Notice the subtle hints in the movie. The U.S.A and Great Britain, our closest ally, are the only two nations we see destroyed. It is supposed to be assumed that other countries are suffering as well, but capitalists must pay. The little speech at the end where the "President" states that the third world countries that we have oppressed now become our savior. The electric cars the "good guys" drive and the evilness of using fossil fuels. This type of ideology, mass marketed to the dimwitted and uninformed, is what drives liberalism into our homes. WE ARE EVIL! That is what the left believes. It is our fault we were attacked on September the 11th 3 years ago. It is our fault that there are people trying to kill us just for being free. And now, apparently, we are going to cause the mass destruction of the earth because we drive a 17MPG SUV. "Thou...art LORD alone, thou hast made the heavens...the earth...the seas, and all that is therein, and thou perservest them all..." Nehemiah 9:6 This is not a license to pollute and abuse, but the world is in God's hands and it is completely up to Him to preserve or destroy.
