Because of Winn-Dixie (2005)
A great soothing movie
I think it's a very good family film. I like family films just for myself. It has great actors in it Jeff Daniels that really isn't using language in this one. Eva Marie Saint Cicely Tyson I just love and she does a really good job in it. She always has good things to hold on to. With good reasoning for things that happened to us or children. It's a good story about yes he's a preacher but his wife has left him and the daughter is trying to understand she's young and they have to move place to place and they found this wonderful little dog well he's actually a big dog but it's a good family story and enjoyable. You'll love watching it more than once. There is one last thing I wanted to add I love it when children show respect to their parents saying yes sir and no ma'am. I really think that's missing in our society is the respect we show our parents.
Tulsa King (2022)
More entertaining than Yellowstone
I'm only on number six of the first season and I am joining it so much more than yellowstone. I like the lightheartedness in it and the little tongue and cheek jokes and I really like Sylvester Stallone in this role. I think so far they've picked a good cast. The writing's good the starting to be a little more language but a lot less than Yellowstone. I hope the series continues I like the story line so far in the direction it's going. I think they good tender-hearted parts are more sincere than in other shows. I really think still Sylvester Stallone is showing a good character and good acting skills in this one. If you haven't take a glance I would watch it. Even if it's just for the first three or four you'll enjoy it.
Here (2024)
I would watch it at home
This is a movie I wouldn't recommend paying to see. It was done as a b grade stage play with no plot with no real reason. I really didn't enjoy the film and I like Tom Hanks and most of his movies. It just didn't make sense to make a movie out of whatever this was. This was something either I believe it said in a book or somebody's dream at night. If you have a chance you might give it a look at streaming so you can change the channel when you want. But the acting was so so Paul Bellamy was probably the best but I couldn't say much else for the film except it's probably one of the worst films I've seen this year. The content there was a snow plot no content I saw at the end what they were trying to do and they did do but it's not entertainment. Anybody under 55 wouldn't get any of the old time Jingles or music or things of the past. Which is the only thing that kind of kept you interested for 3 seconds. Anyway that's my two cents about the movie.
Conclave (2024)
Good actors is all I can say
It starts out okay believable. Then it takes you through some motions which with the acting and the actors that are in it it's going to be suspenseful. But to me it was a little too drawn out and you could kind of see where it was going till the end. I feel that the movie didn't have a lot of substance but the actors made it seem like it was. I looked it up it is not a true story The Writers and the producers are known for taking something way out in left field out of nowhere that's untrue and putting it in a controversial setting. So don't be fooled at any of this could be true. And that was my first thought when they gave you the very end lines is they want you to think men can have babies. And that's where it wants to take you. But I'm sorry there's only X and y's and then cannot have babies. They're just trying to lead you down that rabbit hole. I just will say the acting was good but the substance the the information because there's not much true information there is not very much it was to me a little drawn out. But as you can see with the waiting I gave it I've seen a lot better movies this year. Definitely not worth an Oscar on the merits of the writing and producer.
Saturday Night (2024)
Not what I expected
I'm from the SNL persons from the very start. I kept expecting a little bit more from the writers. A lot of it was just hodgepage it didn't make a lot of sense it didn't even make any kind of Common Sense which I understand it wouldn't if they're all just running around wondering what's going on but it's really off the wall. I think in real life it wasn't quite that off the wall in dealing with the true characters I think they were a little smarter than what they gave these actors parts saying. They acted like they were really stupid. And I don't think they were I think they were smarter and had more comedy smarts then they made them out to be. They had a few well-known actors but other than that I was disappointed that they didn't go through at least one skit from the original show. Next thing I know they were showing the credits and I kept expecting more from the movie. If you were an SNL fan of course you got to see it but this fan was expecting more.
Divorce (2016)
It's really a cute idea
I would have rated it a lot higher if they would have cut the language out. At least half of it out. You don't talk that way around your kids or I don't think normal people talk that bad. But I like the husband I think he's a good actor that Jessica Parker only acts in one way the same way every time. So makes me wonder if she's acting or that's the only thing she knows how to do. It has good actors in it and I think like I say the story is a good idea. That I like the wit in it and the writing is decent. I haven't read any of the other reviews so I don't know what other people think of it but like I said the writing the actors they're all worth an eight but with the language I have to bring it down a couple of notches.
Coogan's Bluff (1968)
Remember this was from the '60s
Clint Eastwood is always good he looks really good he's really fit in this movie. A lot of movies in this time period we're not of good quality the quality of this picture is good the filming directing the coloring. The writing of the story I thought was good. But because it's from 68 it has more nudity than films a little bit later on that were to me a better quality writing and directing. The story is good with him in his Cowboy outfit and it takes place in New York I like Lee Cobbs in it and again the characters and the way they act and the LSD is all from the '60s late 60s sure glad I didn't grow up in that time.. so if you look at it from that point of view I thought it was done very well and again I always like Clint Eastwood he was still Clint Eastwood and he got the bad guy. I definitely think it's worth the watch.
Reagan (2024)
We need more films like this
This movie had good actors in it. And they weren't all from the left and didn't have all these immoral beliefs and showed one of the last presidents we had that stood for God and Country. It seems like Roger Ebert and all the critics want to put down any films like this that if you're not open to just anything or if you even mention God it's not a good film. I can see why actors are leaving Hollywood's. The older actors have made their living they don't care anymore and say what's on their minds. If you look at a lot of the older actors from 40s and 50s they were Republicans with morals and values and God in their life. But heaven forbid a few mention that now you're a Looney Tunes. It's the left that wants to take God out of the country that aren't just Looney but they are dangerous. It's too bad that some of the critics rated a movie with God in it and about God is so low. Tells me where they're at. I do recommend seeing the film it didn't couldn't put all of what was in Reagan's life and that short of time. But his mannerisms for having God in his life and looking out for America and the citizens of this country not the illegals was a great job done by Reagan.
The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
Loved the remake
I thought the Remake was done very well. Of course I think the actors were all very good actors Meryl Streep- Denzel Washington that I just loved Levy I just love but they cast in general I thought was a good Supporting Cast also they did a very good job and very clear and what the story was about and what can happen I believe in real life. I need to see the original to see the comparison sometimes when you see the second one first you don't always appreciate the first one as well. But I do really recommend this movie it was a good remake a lot of remakes are not so good. Again I feel like the storyline really kept you going and the actors really did a good job. Especially in today's climate politically anything's possible because everybody behind the scenes is pulling the strings. Probably been going on for years at least in 1962. I know Johnson was really pulling a lot of strings for behind the scenes people. I know this is to political but Johnson is the one who put our social security in the general fund for the Congress to spend our money. It is not their money it is our money and our employer's money if they should have nothing to do with the government. But as in the movie they think they're above it all.
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)
New to Deadpool
I love most of the Marvel characters. I didn't know about Deadpool so I had no clue. So when it named it Deadpool Wolverine I thought it was some kind of episode of wolverine. I'm a Spider-Man fan the Fantastic Four all those guys. I was really disappointed when I went to go see this the language the seem to be getting in all the liberal catches putting Fox down it's not my cup of tea. I was disappointed in Ryan Reynolds but I loved all the other actors in it I love their films on their own. So as needless to say I will not be seeing another Deadpool I couldn't stand the afford every other word and he had his own family in there and I'm sure they got to watch it. I just didn't bring up my family and I was in brought up with all that. Again I'm more of the Spider-Man had a story there's a point to the movie is a good guy and a bad guy and there is some rhyme and reason I almost fell asleep and I never fall asleep at Movies my friend who is a little more open-minded she almost fell asleep twice during this movie so they really like it or you really don't. From those of you that are old school I don't recommend it.
Touched by an Angel (1994)
Wonderful show
Wonderful show writing cast the whole shimola. I love because the bottom line is God is the giver and taker of all things and they didn't have to get in to too much of the Jesus thing to not offend so as to be for all people who are religious in God of Israel .Like a Jewish person. Jesus was a wonderful man and prophet and yes he may be the Messiah but it's all about God. God is the giver and taker of all things he is the one that decides things. The only remark I really have to make is John Dyes hair looks so much better longer than shorter. But then I'm from the '70s. But the show was a great show touched on many great things that are missing in in today's world. The show needs to be shown now and watch now. God was a part of this nation at the beginning it was godly man who wrote our constitution God is on our buildings and our money and they want to remove God. And God is the answer to all things. I really was missing something back then but I was working and taking care of and being involved in a lot of things volunteer things which I think were important back then when this was running. So this is a really refreshing show for 2024 and we need it in 2024. Kudos to all you.? I can't believe with 28 wins on Emmys and 48 nominations that the overall rating is a 6. To me it just shows you how far from God we've gotten. I really like season 8 and 9 really dealt with just having God with you and knowing that you're at peace with HIM no matter what's happening in your life.
Young Woman and the Sea (2024)
Simply done well
Sounds like a simple story. But there's a lot that goes on of the time period after World War I and immigrant families and how men and women got started in sports mostly this is about women being allowed to even participate in sports and I think the whole movie was done very well. All the actors did a very good job there wasn't any slow times in the film and I feel like it was done probably best as it could to the true story. Of course bruckenheimer always does a very good job. I like that it's a store you can go watch rated PG nothing offensive in it and the family can watch it. I really recommend going and seeing it. Well done cast writing and directing.
Fairly Legal (2011)
My cup of tea
The show has such a good message of the law not being about Justice and we do need the law to meet the original Law from the Constitution but it's been so perverted to where the innocent are held accountable and more so and the perpetrators are the ones that go free and get to break the law over and over and go free. I feel like in the show it shows how there is a balance with a mediator that knows what they're doing. Of course I like her the boys the main part Sarah Sashi I want to say your name not sure if that's right I liked her in a few other shows she's spicy but yet always has a heart. I wish there were more shows with this kind of riding from USA type shows. USA seems to always have a handle on the law doing the right thing but always having some humor in it and that's what I like that the shows aren't so serious that you can't ever smile or feel good about it. So I hope I didn't do any spoilers in this. As I say I'll find out some more shows from USA but I really recommend you give this a whirl as they say. I noticed it had a really high rating for Imdb and yet it only stayed on for two seasons I wish you had stayed on longer. Well done USA. Well done writers and all involved.
A Gentleman in Moscow (2024)
My kind of mini series
I'm enjoying the miniseries so far. The acting I think is great the story the timing the speaking. Everybody's not racing the lines like in other things that they have to talk fast. I really like that it's a time. Peace I love those. The dress the background and the wording the way they spoke. I think Ewan McGregor does a great job I think the story isn't probably exactly on the money but it helps me with history a little bit of what's going on over there we didn't live it so we didn't know. I'm really looking forward to every episode I'm up to episode 5 and it just gets better and better. I wish they would make more like this timepieces with good acting there's no language no rolling in the hay really so everything is done in good taste. Bravo! I wish they would pick up a season 2 if there is more to the story when they're done with season 8 cuz it seems like there would be more to the story or more of a conclusion of overview of what happened between World War I and word ends. We in America need to see what it's like to live under this kind of regime and communism and them telling the young people that this is going to be wonderful for you and they end up in Mass Graves. Keep them coming in this way that's all I can say. Hope I didn't spoil too much. Really worth the watch. I don't know where the low ratings come from I don't know what they expected something really racy something were they talk really fast and a lot happens this was real life back then.
Heartland (2007)
Started out good
This show started out good with a lot of good values. I do like the storyline. Course we always have characters that we kind of don't like mine are Lou and Tim the dad. But Ty and Amy and the grandpa are were great. Really sorry to see when they killed Ty off. My icy Heartland on the Faith and family network. So I was disappointed that we had to have a gay couple as working with Lou as the mayor. And then they were trying to adopt a baby and they kept turning this into the major part of the story I don't call that part of faith and family. As far as a Christian show. Also Lew was always trying to tell everybody what to do but she couldn't seem to keep it together with her own self her own family. One thing I did notice about the show that always cracks me up is all these people live in the household eat in the household and they have a refrigerator the size of mine and I'm single. At the time to refrigerator for having 10 people live in the house and eating there everyday with guest dropping in. Lou always seems to be cooking and being in somebody's business and telling him what to do but not paying any attention to her own kids. That's one of the things I see is the downfall of the family unit is women always feeling like they have to be doing something extra away from their kids I think it's very good for Amy and their mother to be working with animals with their children there that's the whole different ball of Wax. But it still is a good show until this couple gay couple moved in and then I've stopped watching it they made it too much of the story.
The Hustle (2019)
Love Jane Hathaway
The story really is a good story it's a fun movie I love Jane Hathaway and everything about was made good though I think I have a problem with is when they have overweight women in main parts as that's being normal I hate to see young people thinking being overweight is normal I hate seeing kids being overweighting their parents do nothing about it they don't play with them or watch what's going on with their diets. And nowadays cuz I'm an old Fogie they want to make everybody overweight as normal it's not normal. I come from the '70s where everybody we ate but we were busy everybody was then everybody was not a over a size C cup or even a b cup and you felt normal now we've got implants we've got overweight women and their main parts and I'm back to the movie it was a decent movie if they had used a different girl for the blonde part if she had been a normal person it would have been more believable it wasn't believable with her.
Tracker (2024)
Great new story plot
I love that the story is something different than the normal story lines with the cops and the shootouts and no levity at all this has a good balance of seriousness tracking it even teaches you stuff and there's some levity still in it. Love Justin Hartley I think he's a very good actor seems like he's got his act together. I like his characters a good clean decent guy but a man's man that we need to see more of I would rate the show much higher if it didn't have a lesbian couple in there I wish it was his sister and a friend or his sisters. At .33of 1 % of America's gay and we have to always see it in our face. Hollywood is always pushing the envelope on politics or what they want us to think is normal. It's not something you would want your kids to watch as normal . With these ladies . Otherwise it's a great new line for a story in a TV program I think he does a really good job. And both the ladies do a good job and their parts as giving him details and his sidekick getting him his information is good. The story lines as far as the episodes episode is good. I hope he just stays on track with the general of America. We need to see more men being men. I hope they pick up season 3 4 and 5 at least I'll be waiting for it. Hollywood love you to believe there's lots of gays and trans but it's only in Hollywood and the movie industry most of the time there's real men out there and that's what I love to see men be men.
Raffles (1939)
My kind of movie
Light-hearted crime drama I love the actors it was done well for a 1939 I love David Niven and the cast of characters all played their parts well the story was good I just wish they made more of these. I happen to hit this on a whim it was free on my Prime and I watched it and I'm so glad I did. I recommend that you try it too if you're into those kind of thin man type movies only he's the criminal. The story is so much better than today's stories there's no language which is my kind of movie there's no rolling around in the hay which is my kind of movie and everybody is courteous and kind to one another even the police.
Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius (2004)
Language
I would have given an 8 if it was really a PG. But there is alot more language than expected. Should be rated PG-13+. I like the cast and the directing. I am not sure how much it follows the real story. But I did enjoy the story. I do compare the movie great game ever played as far as language and still tell the story.
So that's the end of my review but it tells me I need more characters so please forgive me just filling in with this last paragraph. I did enjoy watching this but I think my the greatest game ever played is still my favorite of the two. Says I still need 42 more characters but I tend to always be this way on my book report short and to the point.
Bob Marley: One Love (2024)
Good story
I could have given it even a higher Mark but it was very hard to understand their jamaican. Jamaican is hard for me to understand but theirs was even harder. At the end of the movie It showed a small clip of actual Bob Marley and he spoke a clear English if they had spoken that English the movie would have been a little more enjoyable. It was a good sound story there were a few other details that were probably talked about my friend and I we had a hard time understanding if they were speaking English on the second half of their sentence or if they were speaking their old language. But it is a good story. As usual there's one side the other side and then there's the militants that come in and want to just cause problems. So I guess that's a spoiler but it's sad the way he died I feel like in the long run it wasn't necessary and he could have lived to a ripe old age. I do recommend the.
King Solomon's Mines (2004)
Totally enjoyed it
I thought this was done very well. I very much enjoyed this much more than the Richard Chamberlain movie. The acting was good the characters in it it was very enjoyable and I thought it was done good in how many parts they did it I liked it better than a short movie. Almost everyone I recognized as actors it was done well it's a Hallmark and I didn't have to worry about language or anybody rolling around in the hay as they say. So if you enjoy a good clean solid Story movie this is fun to watch it's got drama action. It has some love interest it keep it moves well there's no slow parts. Again I really think it's worth the watch I can't believe it only has a 6.1 rating I gave her a 9.

Just not the same
I watched it and I was very disappointed it still has some good writing as far as plots I don't want to see too much ugliness but I Miss Spencer I miss half the team I don't need to find out that Tara is a lesbian and I have to have that in my face all the time not that it's not out there but not as much as what they want to act like it is. And I'm getting off the subject here but I'm really missing the whole team the whole structure of everything it's just I give it a four and I liked it before it needs all eight of them for it to operate right the skeleton team is just not working. They really ruined it when they ended it. In 2020.
Keeper of the Flame (1942)
Love oldies but this wasn't one of the best
I love Spencer and Hepburn together but this wasn't one of their best films. It moved very slowly and most of the older movies the movie of the story runs much more and has much more quality to it. The quality of the writing wasn't very well. When I looked at the film they had to change the ending or they wouldn't let it go on the screen. I guess they wrote it to where she killed her husband and I wish they would have let it happen that way it would have made the movie much more interesting and more watchable and I wish they could have put in a little more clues here and there. I needed to watch it cuz I love old movies just to see what I was missing. And I wasn't missing much but I do recommend that you see it so you can find out for yourself. But I think they should have left the original ending. Yay Hepburn and Tracy.
The Boys in the Boat (2023)
Greatly done.
I love seeing great movies that don't necessarily have all these big names in it. There are so many good actors out there and they all did a good job. There are a few faces that you will recognize but overall the movie was written well acted well and as much as I kind of hinder to say this it was directed well. Little upset with Clooney on a few issues but it doesn't change the fact it was also directed well. I really recommend seeing this. Based on a true story. The shooting of it was great meaning the camera work. It was yes a feel-good movie but it was true to life. Of those times. My dad was born in 29 so I know it was really rough in those times and it wasn't unusual for parents to just leave their kids hopefully with a good family that could feed them but not just to run off and leave them but some did. And look what he did with his life. This is what life is about. Nowadays these kids and I'm even including myself at over 65 we really don't know what true hard living is. And what character it brings out. And what good people it brings. I love that it showed the Nazis and how they really were in 36 if you've never watched a documentary on them wanting to put on the Olympics and their reason for it. But us brought home a lot of goals and 36. Go see the movie. I don't see how anybody could give this any less than an eight.
Storm Rider (2013)
Good family feel good flick
Kevin Soros does it again. He makes good movies good stories I like the cast and this one they were good actors as good riding dealt with several family issues without any swearing without any rolling in the hay I just love movies that you can watch without worrying about any of that. It has a good ending and has some drama in the middle of a rescue and I really recommend that your whole family can watch this one again the Great American Media is a great Channel great production company. Please support all these movies that make watching a film worthwhile . Again it tells me I'm short on my 600 words.
