The highest production values ever utilized on a necrophilia film. Nacho Cerda shows clinical precision with this short. From the effects to the cinematography, this thing oozes professionalism. While graphic, it does not ever step completely into pure exploitation. Cerda clearly has talent and it's a shame that Aftermath is essentially the apex of his career so far. This is possibly the best extreme horror short ever made.
Marian Dora is like the Lars Von Trier of extreme horror. Naturalistic and artistic, Dora creates a language all his own in his films. Cannibal is a fairly accurate retelling of the Armin Meiwes case. A quick search of Meiwes will let you know exactly what you're going to get with Cannibal. Dora has an amazing ability to showcase the most depraved acts with a sense of beauty. Not for weak stomachs.
Brian Paulin is a wonderful fx artist and does the best he can with limited resources. The man wears almost all the hats when it comes to the production of his films. It is both his strongest and weakest asset. If he could secure a larger budget and a more refined screenplay Mr. Paulin could definitely be a part of cinema greatness with his impressive effects work. Bone Sickness is an early film from Paulin that suffers from a somewhat slow and uninspired first and second act. All the goods are delivered in the final act with copious amounts of gore and bloodshed. I enjoy Paulin's enthusiasm for practical effects but wish he would apply some better cinematography and sound design into his films. These are obviously just drawbacks from no budget filmmaking. Despite its shortcomings, Blood Sickness still showcases some top notch effects and is still better than much of the SOV horror in existence.
