I usually like these types of films that are a bit different from the usual Hollywood offerings, a nice pace, not fast-moving, I didn't like the Irish cliches used throughout the film and the plot was a bit boring and didn't make much sense to me, I like films that are abstract and leave things open to interpretation, but The Banshees of Inesherin failed on this front as well for me. The acting was first class by Brendan Gleeson, Colin Farrell not so much, I found his performance wooden and contrived. With beautiful locations and cinematography it looked amazing on a big screen, I'd watch the film for the cinematography alone but was dissatisfied with the story.
Nothing much happens in this documentary, it's as if the people making it lost interest (as I did) in the first ten minutes and it just sort of ambles along with shots of mundane people doing mundane things. I didn't much care for any of the people in the film, being mostly self obsessed and one dimensional at least this was how they were portrayed.
What an awful film, it's just boring, trying too hard to be like The Royal Tenenbaums, none of the characters are likeable, plot meanders along like an old dog.
