Everest (2015)
emotional masterpiece!
Everest is a beautifully well-crafted, emotionally charged masterpiece that pulls the viewer directly into the inhumane, incredible world of Mount Everest. Directed by Baltasar Kormákur, the film recounts in great detail the actual events of the ill-fated 1996 expedition where climbers faced unimaginable conditions on the world's tallest peak.
The movie succeeds in reproducing the sheer scale and beauty of Everest, all the while keeping a nail-biting tension that builds as each character reaches his limit.
With Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Emily Watson leading the cast, the performances are quite natural and say a lot about the mental and physical stress of the climb, not to mention the emotional weight of their journey. It has such amazing cinematography, along with such a haunting score, that you feel every breath of wind, every drop in temperature-capturing all the grit and vulnerability of the climbers going up against nature's colossal power. But what really makes Everest shine is the emotional level on which it is based. More than a survival movie, it is a human spirit, connection, and costs-of-ambition tale. Shocking and moving, yet respectful to the real lives affected by the disaster.
Take Care (2024)
Don't Waste Your Time - A Disappointing Drama
"Take Care" on ITN is, unfortunately, a huge letdown in every possible way. From the get-go, the acting is subpar, with performances that feel wooden and unconvincing. It's hard to get emotionally invested when the cast delivers lines like they're reading off a script for the first time. Even the lead actors struggle to bring any depth or authenticity to their characters, making it difficult to care about the story.
Speaking of the story, it's riddled with clichés and plot holes. The storyline feels aimless, jumping from one predictable scene to the next without any real substance or intrigue. There's no emotional connection, no build-up, and definitely no payoff. It's hard to believe how something so lazily written made it to the screen.
The production quality does little to salvage the show either. It's clear that corners were cut, from the set designs to the overall direction. The pacing is painfully slow, and by the time you realize nothing meaningful is going to happen, it's already too late.
Overall, "Take Care" is a waste of time. With so much quality TV available today, there's absolutely no reason to sit through this poorly executed drama. Do yourself a favor and skip it.
