Wicked: Part I (2024)
Masterpiece
OMG. What an incredible piece of cinematic achievement. This movie was waaayyyy better than expected. The sets, costumes, photography...all exquisite. I like Ariana Grande but was worried she couldn't pull this off. I was 1000% wrong. I found her to be better than Erivo. Both just drop award winning performances. This is a big screen must see! I can't believe we have to wait a year for Part 2!
This better just rake in double digit Academy Award nominations and multiple wins. This is movie making at its finest. Kudos to John's directing as well. Just an absolute masterpiece. Don't pass this movie up!
Conclave (2024)
Ohhhh sweet baby Jesus
What in the world did I just watch???? Fell asleep in the first 15 minutes and then it got good and interesting. However, every twist and turn I thought would happen...didn't! Instead the most ridiculous things happened. The potential for this movie was there, it just didn't deliver the goods. And if this was how the book was. Eekkk.
Ralph Fiennes was amazing and probably deserves an Oscar nomination. Everyone else? Solid, as expected, but not necessarily award worthy. I appreciate the effort, but this movie just didn't work for me.
Great acting, great shots, great music score. Not. A good. Movie.
Friends: The One Where Ross Got High (1999)
One of my favorites!
Aside from the stupid Phoebe storyline, this is one of the best episodes. Nicely layered and I love when shows have lots going on in one setting. Cast is working on all cylinders here and it shows.
The Gray Man (2022)
Pretty solid!
FYI: the negative reviews on here are non-sensical, pay no attention to them. Watch for yourself. I could've used a few more humorous scenes/lines from Gosling, but overall this is a solid film.
God's Own Country (2017)
Fantastic
What a great film. Very grounded and realistic in tone. Solid chemistry in the leads and both pull off their parts flawlessly. This is a must watch. Writing and directing were superb.
Eternals (2021)
No. Just no.
I've never seen a major motion picture with a cast this large that had ZERO chemistry.
And not sure what the point/plot was. It was either too simple and boring or too layered and over my head. Either way, I have no desire to see this movie again.
Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2022)
WOW
These two have amazing chemistry. This movie needs to be an Oscars contender and would also make a fantastic play.
Don't miss this one! It will surprise you.
God's Favorite Idiot (2022)
Ugh. Stop
This couple needs to stop working together, cause they don't work...together.
I had to stop after the first episode and I barely made it through that.
Fire Island (2022)
Solid
I actually really liked this movie. Yes, a lot of themes we've seen before, but I thought it was packaged well and really sweet and fun. A solid movie in my opinion.
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)
Totally awesome
Sorry haters, I love this movie. Russell and Monroe are spectacular. The storyline is fun, the music and choreography catchy. The comedy works. Lots to love about this movie.
WeCrashed (2022)
We lost brain cells
This is dumb. This makes young people look and seem really dumb. It also has cult-like themes and it's just creepy. But it also confirms the main problems with corporate America: it's all based on a set of lies and a fake valuation of how we asses companies. I just hate the story.
Yellowstone (2018)
Almost...
Lots of great elements here, but really inconsistent and choppy. Not cohesive enough to make it a solid series. And the toxic masculinity of it all is...YIKES.
West Side Story (2021)
Masterpiece
You can tell Spielberg loved this movie. This really is a phenomenal film. The cinematography is stunning. Ansel Egort is underrated. Rachel is amazing and Ariana pops off the screen and shines just like Moreno did in the original.
House of Gucci (2021)
Solid
Sorry haters, I thought this was a solid film and totally got robbed of important Oscar nominations. Lady Gaga and Jared Leto were stellar. For a long movie, the pacing is this was pretty solid. I dug this.
Inventing Anna (2022)
Sigh
Last few episodes were really poorly written. This was also a few hours too long. Lots of nonsensical character changes. But, on a positive note, Julia Garner delivers. She's quite an amazing actress. However, I wish I would've avoided this mess.
Nightmare Alley (2021)
Solid
I'll say, the trailer for this was a mess and I had zero idea what this was about. But, after watching it, this was a solid movie. Cooper proves once again why he's an A-lister and I would've given him the Oscar for the last scene alone! Blanchett is chilling and stunning, as usual. Truly a gift to audiences as a premiere actress of our times. This movie delivers.
We Need to Talk About Cosby (2022)
Must watch
An incredible series. This is an important conversation piece and must be seen. So well done. It's pretty shattering to think about and see what this monster did and how he got away with it for so long. Complete monster.
Spencer (2021)
WHY?
Why was this movie made? What was the point???? HOLY MOLEY. I mean, Stewart was solid, but I just don't understand what this movie was meant to accomplish.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
Sigh
I'm through episode 3 and bored out of my mind. This just isn't interesting to me. Yet.
Why? Not getting the hype. Is there hype? I'm missing the point/tone/whatever.
CODA (2021)
Fantastic!
This movie is so special! I can see why it's been cleaning up on the awards circuit. From the tailgate scene on, I was just wrecked! If you don't get all the feels, something is wrong with you.
Celebrity Name Game (2014)
Outstanding fun!
I miss this show so much. The perfect daytime escape. The celeb guests were fun, great format. This show needs to come back. It needs to be in prime access.
The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021)
Ignore the haters
This is a pretty solid film. Chastain and Garfield deliver! I have new found sympathy for Tammy Faye, still an odd duck, but new found sympathy. The movie moves along and the pacing is solid. Didn't get bored.
Someone Great (2019)
Huh?
I gave this a 3 for the 30 minutes I watched before I turned it off. Sorry, great actresses, horrible movie. Couldn't continue to waste my life. I'm not even sure what to advise to make this movie better.
Luca (2021)
OUTSTANDING
Easily one of my favorite animated films. It has everything...family, strong female lead, friendship, acceptance, learning, love. This film is AMAZING! Loved every second of it.
Encanto (2021)
Visually stunning...but
This movie is just visually stunning, but I didn't get it. I had to review the Wikipedia page to read what was happening and who was who, etc.
I clearly go into the simpleton category.
Ok, watching for the second time and I'm just bored with it. Again, visually stunning, but I'm just not into this story.
