Mum (2016)
Hopefully it gets better
Watched the first episode and I did not laugh once, is this classed a comedy? Saw another review which called it a drama. I actually liked the 1st episode as a drama, but painful and cringeworthy. It's easy to criticise, but it's not comedy. But I like the main character, it's all the other characters.
Behind Her Eyes (2021)
Love the cast
Predictable, been done before, was one of those series you could watch an episode by jumping forward and not missing much.
Could have been done in 4 episodes max, sadly almost turned into like a superheroes type thing.
Le jeu (2018)
Lots of Lol moments & painful to watch.
Excellent film, loved it, the blend of comedy and everyday issues we have in life. The best bit was the advice the guy gave his daughter.
Homeland (2011)
Great series, I did not see the ending coming
Enjoyed all 8 seasons, definitely the first three seasons for me were the best. Very hard to maintain a show when trying not to repeat it, but take it in a different direction.
Won't spoil it, but the ending is a nice surprise and leaves the door open for a spin off. However, I hope they don't make one, as they are never as good as the original.
The Last Dance (2020)
Wow
This brought back loads of memories, I thought basketball was boring, but MJ caused me to watch basketball in the 90s and I loved it.
The documentary is amazing, so detailed and a great insight to how they are and the internal squabbles. Love the era with the Pistons, when they lost and the whole team changed their training regime, that's dedication.
Perdida (2018)
OK movie
Thought is was a good film, but they did not really link in what happened until mid way through the film. The main character comes over as having mental health issues.
But never really clearly explains why her boss was so heavily involved. Yes he clearly took a bribe, but why?
Secuestro (2016)
Several very good plots.
I don't want to give it away, but all too often you can see the end coming a mile away, but not on this film.
It's a low budget film, but really well done, twists and turns right to the very end. I noticed someone commented about the dog fighting scene. It's not real, no more than the bruises on the kid.
Him & Her (2010)
Very Poor
I know we are all entitled to an opinion, but when I see 10 out of 10 for this when I think of comedies that had me hurting so much through laughter this was not it.
From Only fools & Horses to One Foot in the Grave to Porridge, well I'd happily watch repeats of these.
I watched the first episode and it was painful, awkwardly so, from the neighbour who kept coming round, to the spider bit at the end.
I smiled at one line, but really this won awards?
No te puedes esconder (2019)
Hollywood-esque
Mini spoiler, In the first episode, there are 2 chances where the show could have ended inside of 3 episodes, with the girl escaping. But both times the poor scriptwriters made it so unrealistic.
Then there was the traditional needing to make a call but the mobile phone battery does and the other one where you make a call and the other person does not answer.
There are two distinctive plots, neither go into detail to explain why. Worth watching if you want to improve your Spanish
Murder Mystery (2019)
Don't believe the hype
Driving to work the radio is on in the car and it says "Murder Mystery, the most number of views" or similar, so I thought it was a top film. It has been done before and done much better. The plot is wafer thin, it seems like a case of throwing in 2 big names and hoping it to reap the rewards. I've watched funnier documentaries
Chernobyl (2019)
Speechless
I never rate things as a 10, and I have read many of the reviews especially from the people living close to Chernobyl at the time. I was 10 years old when I was in England and we saw it on the news, you could tell it was serious, talk of radioactive clouds coming over to the UK. Remembering my dad who was a nurse talking about it with, and he did not scare easily.
Everyone over the age of 45 can relate to this tragedy, because we all fortunately survived it, I know it sounds silly, but it could have been far worse.
The shows explains everything very simply so we can all understand it, but also shows us in great detail, not only how and why the explosion occurred and how they tried to covered it up.
For me it showed me how good people ( some of who did not know the true dangers) gave their lives to save society, by trying to stop dangers of the reactor spreading further. For that we all them all a great debt
