For me the success of this short is all about the theme of friendship and the surprisingly effective facial expressions that effectively convey the dust bunnies emotions despite fairly minimal animation of these characters.
The music is also quite effective in expressing the emotions of the characters and accentuating the action and tension.
I've seen lots of shorts with better animated visuals but few that have more effectively depicted the characters emotions. Some animated shorts look great but don't convey the emotions as effectively.
There is also very little to the and a really plot but its all carried by the characters expressions and the music.

The three finalists certainly appear to be the most successful and consistent competitors of the season despite a few stumbles along the way.
I don't pretend to be any kind of expert on the culinary arts or even a good cook but from the start these three had considerable success in most of the challenges.
Certainly some of the others had some success, but not with the consistency of the three finalists.
Other thoughts, I was surprised that all of the regular judges missed episodes this season - and that Quickfire Challenges were handled by Eden Grinshpan and Guest Judges.
Subsequently there were a lot of high profile guest judges this season.
