Carry-On is an engaging action thriller set in Los Angeles International Airport. The story revolves around the high-stakes tension between a TSA employee and a mysterious individual who blackmails him at the baggage screening checkpoint to allow suspicious luggage through. While the premise isn't entirely new, the unique setting and gripping screenplay make the movie captivating from start to finish.
Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman deliver convincing performances that elevate this action-packed entertainer. The technical aspects and direction are impressive, with standout action sequences-particularly the brilliantly shot highway car chase scene.
However, the movie isn't without its flaws. The climax feels predictable, following the typical hero-defeats-villain trope. The emotional connection between the hero and his wife lacks depth, and the villain's backstory could have been more detailed.
Despite these shortcomings, Carry-On is thoroughly entertaining and a perfect family-friendly action movie for the Christmas season.

A Quiet Place: Day One is an engaging sci-fi horror that keeps you hooked throughout. Set in New York City on the day the aliens invaded Earth, the film effectively captures the eerie transformation of the bustling city into complete silence. The opening sequence, comparing the city's decibel levels before and after the invasion, is particularly striking.
The scary scenes are well-executed, with compelling performances from the leads. The sound design is exceptional, amplifying the tension, and the visuals align perfectly with the story's setting.
As a prequel, it doesn't quite reach the heights of the first A Quiet Place but holds its ground compared to the second part. While the film is engaging, it feels like it's missing a stronger resolution. Being "Day One," the focus is understandably on survival, but I wished for more proactive resistance from the lead characters instead of just evading danger.
Despite these shortcomings, A Quiet Place: Day One is a decent watch for sci-fi horror fans and offers a solid addition to the franchise.

"The Mole: Undercover in North Korea" is absolutely brilliant-it's hard to believe it's non-fiction. An ambitious mole penetrates the dark world of North Korea, uncovering secrets about drugs and weapons, and documenting meetings right under their noses-it's truly remarkable. It feels like watching a realistic spy thriller. Ulrich displays incredible bravery, dedicating 10 years of his life as a mole, which is unimaginable. Jim, as Mr. James, comes across as a masterful con artist, navigating these dangerous situations with finesse. This documentary is gripping and engaging from start to finish.
