I am too young to have ever seen Whitney live so seeing this concert in the cinema this was the next best thing. It was a brilliant experience. It had everything. First of all Whitney was in full flight. Of course at certain little moments you could tell she had been touring the previous two years (and also worked on the movie and the soundtrack, gave birth to her daughter..) but that doesn't bother at all and you can't blame her for it either. Her voice was superbe. It's up there with the best Bodyguard concerts for sure and she was much better than in Johannesburg. Her voice seemed to get better and more fired up as the concert went along. It's incredible how somebody can sing like this for two hours. When you watch this, you know why she is the best to ever do it.
Whitney's albums are legendary because they propelled her to stardom but when Whitney sings her (and other) songs live, you can witness her true brilliance. The way she sings the songs is just totally different from her albums. It's a party full of soul, gospel, passion and true musicality. Not only does she sing brilliantly, she also commands the stage and she directs her wonderful band.
During this concert, she had a lot of interaction with the audience which was lovely and the audience was just great. You could see and feel how emotional Whitney was and you hear it through her music. And throughout the entire concert Whitney just seemed so happy. The outfits she wore were amazing.
Her band and the dancers were great. When she did Touch The World, Cissy was on stage too and that was very emotional. Throughout the concert you could feel it was a celebration and an historical event. They did a great job at making this concert movie. The way they remastered it is very impressive. I hope they will release it on dvd because you only get the full experience when you can see the footage.
