Kevin Hart: Zero F**ks Given (2020)
Kevin Hart doesn't have it anymore!
Kevin Hart has been consumed, he hasn't put out a great stand-up since Let Me Explain.
I've been following him for years, and his material now at its highlight can make me sneer and say: What happened to you Kevin? You used to be funny.
He has lost his authenticity, and doing stuff commercially more than ever. He's not a comedian anymore, it's just Rich, Famous-complaining Kevin Hart being Rich, famous-complaining Kevin Hart.
Hadi Be Oglum (2018)
Come on My Son
What a movie, what a performance, so much emotions, what an experience.
The performance of Kivanç Tatlitug, his non-dialogue facial expressions, emotions, gestures... truly what acting is all about. Truly concerned father expressed through his tears, frustration expressed through his gestures, grattitude and pride of his son expressed through his deliverance. His best performance to date without a doubt.
The role of Efe played by Alihan, amazing kid who has definetely a future in this business, and a major supporting role in achieving and creating moments of amazing drama alongside Kivanç's character.
This is the definition of a truly spirit of an independent drama film. BRAVO!
Turkey is moving forward in the movie industry in the last decade, and with movies like this. Watch out, there is serious competition.
United 93 (2006)
United 93!
This movie was so epic I just had to write a review at 2:17 AM after midnight, I just had to.
I've read prior to watching the film the true events of the United Flight Airlines 93 and really didn't knew there was a 4th plane in 9/11. Cause when we always talk about 9/11 between people, our minds always goes straight to the World Trade Center and casually mention that Pentagon was attacked too. But wait, there was a 4th planned attacking the United States Capitol that didn't go through. And the reason to find out why? The passengers on the United 93 Flight FOUGHT BACK. Oh I was so proud of humanity and the spirit of those people fighting the good fight, and saddened that they didn't make it.
So when I watched the film, was the just as the same as reading the transcripts and the events that occurred. True caption of the feelings between the passengers and the terrorists also, that intensity, pressure, feelings going through their bodies fighting one side to live, the other to end life.
I mean what can I say other than ... IT'S AUTHENTIC. It's like I was there, right there with them in that room and I'm just watching their next move, their fear, overcoming that fear, fighting, that last second when everything is over. Ahhh I was horrified and satisfied from this experience. As I read a review about this earlier it said in a title: Horrifying to watch but worthy for generations to come.
Everything is explained right down to the last detail, and you're not bored even a little bit, especially the last part... will truly move you and touch deep down that place we all know it's a human being there. 9/11 WE NEVER FORGET!
True heroes, salute to United 93 <3
Allied (2016)
Not Epic, But Worthy of Watching!
The film accompanies the story of Marianne Beausejour and Max Vatan meeting up in Casablanca to kill a German ambassador. After the mission is completed they fall in love and get married, having a daughter but just when everything seems to be right she is believed to be a German spy.
The film lacks a decent script but is compensated on the structure, design, setting and by the performances of Pitt and Cotillard.
I was waiting for a Mr. and Mrs. Smith type of movie but this is certainly different from that. While not epic, the movie is definitely worth watching and maybe forgettable but every time you'll remember it you won't have negative thoughts about it.
The ending was the highlight of this movie. It ended just as it should had ended, giving the film a 'real-life' no way out scenario. Bravo for Pitt, he can still pull it off and he's definitely back! Cotillard as always delivering passionate and devoted performances.
7/10.
The King's Speech (2010)
Colin Firth's Outstanding delivery of The King's Speech!
This is one of those movies that you avoid just because, there's not a particular reason cause you built it up in your mind that it's not good, although you haven't seen even a trailer of it. Then when you finally take the courage up to see it, IT BLOWS YOU AWAY saying WHERE HAVE I BEEN EARLIER?
The intro and the setting into the story while building it up might take a little while to get you interested in the movie... but don't loose hope. Cause just when you think of stopping the film, the story starts to develop itself and Colin Firth's magic performance starts to weigh in.
I never heard about King George VI before, certainly from now on I will read more about him. See, this is the the beautiful thing about movies, especially biopics. They make you be interested in something you wouldn't have been, have you not seen the movie about that person or about a thing.
The stammer that King George VI had is undoubtedly performed with a great power by Colin. His mannerisms, pressure, fear, attitude, growth, confidence raising up, delivering the speech, getting louder and secured by each word whilst speaking... and the final ENCORE ....ahhhh MIND BLOWING.
This has all the elements that you expect in a film, insecurity, developing confidence, growing confidence and feeling secure and lastly exploding like a boy becoming a man he is destined to be.
Geoffrey Rush on the other hand just like a lead needs a supporter behind him, stand behind him he shall. Geoffrey is known for getting into any character comedy, drama, thriller ... anything. So it wasn't a problem for him to deliver his performance and also catch your eye even though he isn't the lead. His portrayal of Logue was outstanding and a greater push and support of Colin's character and also the film itself.
Ignore the intro, suffer through it cause then it'll get better and by the end you will be satisfied that you watched it.
9/10.
Jackie (2016)
Natalie Portman's follow up Oscar performance since Black Swan
Natalie Portman portrays Jackie Kennedy in a stunning drama/thriller after the assassination of her husband.
Even though in appearance she doesn't look like Jackie O, she certainly gave it everything she had to compensate for that in her performance, probably best since Black Swan (after some cheap comedies she returns).
The movie itself lacks some plot holes, a bad soundtrack and a story that looks like undeveloped or could have been better. But all that is not taken in consideration when seeing Portman's performance.
In an distinct accent, attitude, habit, fine elegance she represents Jackie as she was behind the cameras. Remember, this movie is not about Jack Kennedy's assassination really, it's about the aftermath.
There are some great scenes where Natalie shows her biggest potential and her biggest abilities with great experiences learned through the years in acting and improvising, re-imagining those times that Jackie went through. This might the closest thing to portraying the real grieving First Lady of the United States.
7/10 for the movie. 10/10 for Natalie's performance.
Doctor Strange (2016)
A Black Comedy on Superhero films!
Doctor Strange is the same superhero movie that we've seen a thousand times, but different. The sense of humour in it makes it a little bit different and something new.
I have not enjoyed a superhero movie in a long time so much that I didn't liked it, but this one I loved watching it. It was an easy going movie and not tiring at all. Like a 20-minute comedy episode.
I've noticed that Benedict couldn't shake Sherlock off. If it wouldn't have been for the suit, hair and beard and the costume with an American accent, you'd see Sherlock all over it. Which is not necessarily a bad thing cause I enjoyed it, but if I see it in his next movies enough I might stop following his filmography.
The script is the same but is a satirical black comedy making fun of superhero movies and all those great moments that the superhero realizes his power and the music starts, the wind is blowing and his pilgrim is flying.... and then it's ruined (haha). It was a refreshing thing to see the fun side of being a superhero.
But if we take it as a serious one then it has gone in a completely different direction. I would have liked it had the movie been darker, but I don't really know if that could have worked.
Also the romance is out here, only a light touch (not too much), just enough so the audience can see a soft side of the man with the pressure of the world in his arms. Rachel McAdams, no Notebook for you here.
The modern-now-day cultural references to Eminem, Beyonce, Drake and what not show the fun side of the movie and keeping in track with ''present'' time as in other superhero films the character looks like he's not in touch with today and looks like he's a thousand years old. Shows that they're not savages.
Overall it is worth it, if you wanna relax and have a drink, take your mind off a hard day's work ... this is a good recommendation.
7/10.
Hacksaw Ridge (2016)
Authentic Masterpiece - Tear Dropping, Moving, Emotional War Epic Film!
I can't even begin to describe the feeling that I got watching this movie. I've been waiting for Hacksaw Ridge ever since IMDb announced it and its status was 'pre-production'.
Truly a moving film, tear dropping it's got all ... the whole package. Andrew Garfield in his most moving and best performance yet, surprisingly I must say but it moved me so much, his portrayal of Desmond Doss made me research and learn more about this heroic, bravest human being possibly ever to live.
Mel Gibson has definitely put his stamp on Hollywood once more as a revolutionary and mastermind director. I watched a lot of Gibson's work previously but this one is definitely on the top of his movies maybe the best one he ever did, I'm not sure.
The effects, story, script, structure, dialogue, performances, direction, editing, soundtrack, artillery, intro, middle, end really cannot be described.
I've written many reviews in details but for this one I can't cause I'll just spoil it. If you are reading this please stop reading and go watch the movie, live an experience you'll never forget.
10/10 with all my heart.
Barry (2016)
One word to describe Barry ... SIMPLE!!!
Don't expect more or less of this movie. Simply enjoy it.
It's not bad and it's not great. It's SIMPLE. A calm relaxing movie about a young fellow becoming a man. This is the kind of a movie you could enjoy after a hard day of work with a beer on your hand.
Some of the characters might be fiction but they are metaphorical. Barry's love interest is a representative for white privilege and the pressure that Barack endured of being mixed and also around and white--ish.
The other friends represent the other part of Barry. The proud African- American Barry, way back to his roots. The movie deals with two parts divided and Barrack being in the middle, not knowing where to fit in, what's he gonna do, what's his next move, is he up for it, who Barrack is (Barry or any other one)?
8/10 You gotta watch it but with a simple an refreshing mind. You'll enjoy it.
Muhtesem Yüzyil: Kösem (2015)
It's got some plot holes but overall it's worth it.
Let me tell you if you are not used to the length of long movies or long TV series don't even start this one.
The episodes are 2 hours minimum with half of it extended to 2 and a half hours. The Turkish are known for making long series.
It tells the story of Kosem Sultan (true story actually), and her reign over her husband Sultan Ahmed I, her two sons Murad IV & Ibrahim I and her grandson Mehmed IV this three last people she was a regent during their reign for half of the time at least.
The historic facts are good with some characters being changed in some fiction whereas the facts are different. But very little to minor characters. This is a continuation of Magnificent Century consisted of Sultan Suleiman and his reign.
It's good some plot holes and some things not right but overall they did a good job considering the length and the huge amount of material they had to put in, in so little time and less seasons otherwise telling the whole story it would need probably 20 seasons.
It tells the story behind the gates of the palace, in the harem where women manipulate and are powerful of their husbands with great positions , even an Imperial one. The actresses portraying Kosem change but overall they did a good job, each one of them on itself.
Suicide Squad (2016)
Heavily OverPromotion of The Joker... You screwed us DC/Warner Bros.
The movie was meh, so and so.
That's not the real thing that bothers me. Actually after this, I don't even care about the movie.
WHERE IS THE JOKER ? Where is Jared Leto? Where is all that heavy promotion, hiding him in the trailer just to pop up at the end to get us all excited. All those interviews and stuff. All for nothing, I'll tell ya.
DC/Warner Bros. promoted The Joker so much that actually put a thought on people's head (even mine a little bit), that he actually might get close to Heath Ledger's performance.
For a year we've been debating, me and my friends with me always insisting that LEDGER IS A GOD for the performance of Joker. And that has been proved now.
The Joker has no more than 1-2 minute scenes and all romantic and stuff. That's not what Joker is. Joker is ruthless, psychopath, freaky, schizophrenic... not all this. I LIKED AND ALWAYS WILL LIKE HEATH'S ANARCHIST JOKER <3 <3
GO WATCH THE DARK KNIGHT FOR GOODNESS'S SAKE.
The Revenant (2015)
The Revenant!
First of all the description of ''The Revenant'' makes you all excited and ready for an adventure epic western drama thriller.
Inarritu's decision to shoot the film chronologically was a good call telling the story from the beginning to the end. His ability and follow- up to Birdman does not disappoint. The amazing shots of every scene, every breath of Glass, every fight, struggle, survival on set makes him one of the greatest of all time. Definitely after this I'm going to watch more of his work.
DiCaprio DiCaprio DiCaprio... where to begin? He has definitely proved once and for all who runs this. The pain that he reflects, the scene with the bear the screaming, the scars and hope to make it another day, horse scene where he sleeps on his carcass to the fight scenes and eating real bison liver he really committed to this performance. He wasn't playing Glass - HE WAS GLASS. There is not enough words from the training and prepare of mastering guns, western lifestyle, the look to the accent and rawness of his character he topped Wolf of Wall Street and that was some of his best work congrats man hats off to you.
Tom Hardy's performance wasn't unnoticed. He showed us one more ti how well he can manage to play a supporting character and that he's good at it unfortunately Leo's performance I think it shadowed him but there's a great possibility he'll grab an Oscar nomination for Supporting Actor.
Will Poulter's performance as a scary trying to be honest but coward was just another point to making the film complete.
I waited for this film almost 2 years to come out and see it ever since it was announced. Don't Miss it cause there's not enough space for me to write a well-deserved review for this . 10/10 and I'm sure it's gonna win at least 5 Oscars ;) .
Danny Collins (2015)
Pacino still pulls it off
Even though through the years Pacino has lost the power to box office smashes with his latest films his performances nevertheless did not fail. With the plot being developed in the beginning and in the end it has very few bumps but with the supporting cast and Pacino on top all those were passed and the structure, personality of characters it's something different I've seen in this film instead of others. A very not surprising well performance by Bobby Cannavale as he is one of my favorites actors that are not very much noticed by the public. Jennifer Garner describes a beautiful trying to understand but defending her husband yet without being to judge-mental towards Danny.
GO Pacino I'll never stop looking for your new projects no matter what the box office , critics say you're one of the greatest of all time !
Kuzey Güney (2011)
Best TV Drama Turkish Series That I've seen to date
With heavily drama start since the episode 1 it gets you into the story of what real life and families are going through from their past , present and going through the future to pass those bad times but only it gets worse and worse.
An incredible performance by Kivanc (Kuzey) - a good mean with a great heart but with a troubled misunderstanding background who lost everything but still has a heart so big to go in prison instead of his brother even though he stole the love of his life . He goes as a kid but comes out as a man , death scaring looks , deep voice , no smile , and always watching his back and still in love with Cemre . I from all the movies i've seen this is Kivanc's best acting skills to date .
Then the Sami (the father) with an incredible performance nervous , unhappy and hurting his kids and wife to avoid the pain . Also the rest of the cast , directing , locations , dialog's , fight scenes were masterpiece and amazingly described .
Don't miss this one 8/10.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)
Passed All My Expectations Of All Movies I've Ever Seen
OH MY GOD . It is the first movie that passed all my expectations in almost 500 movies or more I've ever watched .
The great inspiration about life comes from this movie that no matter what you gotta stand up and not complain about what if I was this what if it wouldn't be this shows you that you just gotta live with it and that life is wonderful and you cannot waste not even a moment of it .
The amazingly 1922 short story of the same name showing about a boy who struggles with his disease and still is thankful for everything he's got and everything he lived for how much he last . An incredible performance by Brad Pitt possibly one of his highlights of his career with a supporting cast like Cate & Taraji it just makes it perfect .
A TRUE INSPIRATION TO SHOW YOU THAT IT ISN'T THAT BAD YOU FIGHT TO SURVIVE . 10/10 .
Last Vegas (2013)
De Niro Back On Track With 3 Legends
Finally De Niro strikes back again returning to the scenes of theaters with a stunning performance with a huge other incredible actor legends Freeman , Douglas & Kline .
The movie was incredible very spectacular about old men's who show that life is not over for them . Funny scenes funny stuff and great performance by a great cast . Also the 50 cent jokes were pretty funny and the minor roles by Michael Ealy , Mary Steenburgen , Romany Malco & Jerry Ferrara when they play him like they're the most influential people on East Coast they had a great performance which left a huge impact speaking for myself in this movie . Also nice cameo appearance by 50Cent nice well done . Hope they'll make a sequel about Bill's wedding with Diana :D 8.9/10
Lone Survivor (2013)
Not What I Expected Wahlberg Saved This Movie !
It wasn't much what I expected based on IMDb ratings , box office . Literally Mark Wahlberg's performance saved this movie from being a complete failure . I think the screenplay wasn't that good and din't made it a real action movie but mostly of the time in first 50 minutes was boring as f*** . Only Mark when was left by himself the only that survived the movie started to revive the movie . His fantastic acting skills made the movie awesome with his dramatic role .
The script (story) was fantastic , but I don't know maybe the producing or director or something turned into a boring movie till some point Mark came and saved it .
Love Mark's performance 6.8/10 this movie :D
The Fighter (2010)
The Triumph Of The Fighter
Amazingly a true story turned into a movie and also with a big plus ( huge incredible cast ) a combination between Mark and the supporting roles of Bale and Amy Adams . A Story about a fighter who is tired of always disappointing himself , his daughter and the people around him and feeling that his life is going through losing and doing nothing . But he never gave up trying to fight and did it - a huge performance by Mark Wahlberg which definitely got him a deserved Oscar Nominee . In the other side also stunning performance by Christian Bale who won the supporting role Oscar - as Dicky this guy who is drugged , no clue where his life is going and gets to prison gets clean and decides to get back to help his brother . A good performance also by Charlene ( Amy Adams ) which lately she's been into my good eyes for the roles she's picked and proving she's a great actress with a supporting role in the fighter as Charlene a college dropout working as a bartender .
The only thing I didn't like was the punches in the fight they were not real they looked like WWE . Give this movie 9.5/10 great job by Mark , Bale & Amy .
G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013)
Even Better Than The First One
A fascinating sequel that leaved me impressed and they did it again even better than the first one . With Dwayne and Willis joining the big cast the movie had even an huge impact than the first film. The Impersonating of the President on the command of Cobra their plan destroying the earth and G.I. Joe's headed outnumbered and out gunned forming a plan to stop it . They also ended good the death of Duke but hope he will return maybe for a third installment in the G.I. Joe series or even G.I./Transformers crossover ;) . Great performance by Dwayne , Willis & Tatum also from Ray ( Snake Eyes ) and Byung-Hun Lee ( Storm Shadow ) fighting for the good side this time !
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009)
G.I. Joe The Rise Of Cobra
Nice strike again by Stephen Sommers directing this and amazing writing by Stuart Bettie which they had done a lot of great work earlier . Generally it's a great sci-fi action movie with a hit performance by Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans which from this last one I didn't expect that he could handle a role like this but it definitely passed all my predictions with a stunning performance . It's a movie based on the comic books and a lot of good visual effects with a lot of action in the story and a little bit of romance , betrayal from Rex ( Joseph Gordon-Levitt ) . Loved the movie a perfect great 10/10 .
Hope they will make a G.I./Transfomers crossover they are talking about it !
Click (2006)
One Of My Favorite Movies Of All Time !
This movie includes every possible category that your looking for . Very very nice touching movie about family comes first and a man who learns that you have to live and enjoy every moment with the ones you love and love you back cause if you don't they'll be gone forever .
Great performance by Adam Sandler , Kate and others it was really a nice movie that has everything in it drama , comedy , thriller everything you want . Michael Newman a very strong character who is bored with his life and with a remote by Morty ( Angel Of Death ) pushes his life to better moments but realizes it only gets worst .
I don't know how critics deny this awesome movie I give it a perfect 10/10 . The culmination in the film was when Michael falls down calling for his son Ben . That scene made me cry which is the 2nd movie that does that in all history of me seeing over hundreds of movies . :D
The Man in the Iron Mask (1998)
Surprised Pleasantly , DiCaprio never fails me !
Astonishing story directed , produce , written by Randall Wallace with a very huge great cast and an incredible performance from DiCaprio , Malkovich but especially I loved also Gabriel Byrne , Jeremy Irons & Gerard Depardieu these 3 last ones it's the first time that I see them in a film I think so and it was just awesome .
A story about King Louis XIV and his twin brother sent away blocked in a prison with an Iron Mask after Louis finds out he lives and doesn't want to risk the throne so he punished Philippe with this awful suffer , that in fact he didn't want to murder him thinking it's too much .
There's some great stuff around the film you see romance , action , drama Christine hangs herself in the end after finding out Raoul's death was planned by Louis , D'Artagan is the father of Philippe loved the Queen until his last breath in the end they trick Louis into the iron mask replace Philippe as Louis and he will be known as one of the greatest rulers in his nation's history .
Great movie don't miss it old fashion classic , perfect 10 :D
Django Unchained (2012)
Django Unchained
One of the greatest more than 2 hour and a half movies I've ever seen . Usually most of the movies that are more that 2 hours gets me boring but not this one as a matter of fact I enjoyed it and would love to watch it again .
First of All great direction and a Masterpiece by Tarantino . This is the first movie i've seen him in direction so I would love to see and check out his other movies as well.
The characters were the most darkest and the most different characters that I've never seen in other movies .
Jamie Foxx - Django Freeman - A slave who is purchased in Kind of a way by Dr. King Schultz after he hears he knows something about Brittle Brothers and Schultz wants to kill them . He said he knows them without knowing , Schultz kills the Speck Brothers who were carrying these slaves in the middle of them Django and releases Django by telling him you get me them and I will get you your freedom . They agree Schultz teaches Django everything he knows makes him partner and tells him this winter come with me as bounty haunters make some money and you'll get your wife back who she was sold to other owners and you will be together again with her . A very breakthrough character who is tough , dark , brave , hurt and I don't think anybody would play it better than J-Foxx .
Christoph Waltz - Dr. King Schultz - a very quiet character but also has a killing side , he's a bounty haunter which takes warrant to kill people and instead get rewards for it . Loved his performance was great and I think it was a big development character in this movie .
Leonardo DiCaprio - Monsieur Calvin J. Candie - It surprised me that Leonardo DiCaprio took the guts and played a opposite side by acting the bad guy and it really showed up his acting skills like never before . This dark , insulting , proudest , gentleman , crazy character played by him a rich man who likes entertainment gladiators and is a very gentleman but at the same time very the opposite of it . One of the biggest impacts on this film .
Samuel L. Jackson - Stephen - This jackass waiter who notices everything and is very observant who finds out that Broomhilda and Django are husband and wife . The first film that I've seen Samuel in and wasn't that bad had a great performance where it showed really a person you can hate .
The last thing in the movie after all actions , drama-s , romances I loved was that Candie , Schultz is dead and Django after being sent to work some place he manages to manipulate the bandits kill them and comes back where he kills everybody especially Stephen and takes back his wife and walk away .
A very brief story talking about racism , the slaves being a humiliated race because of their color and a man 1 in 10 thousand steps up and shows them who the f*** they are :D There's not enough words I can describe how much this movie is so awesome who hasn't checked it you should because it is a MASTERPIECE !
Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010)
After This I Definitely Should Watch The First One
It was generally good .
There's some stuff boring but also there's quite really good stuff too . A lot of good stuff more and more from Michael Douglas and a perfect combination with Shia Labeouf brought out this story about Wall Street about who money goes around and the daughter-father away relationship hadn't seen each other in years Michael left her $100 million dollars in a Switzerland account which she doesn't want to get it . Meanwhile Shia at work his boss Louie dies by making suicide after the company is almost in bankruptcy and he works with Bret he brings his company down while Douglas take the $100 million makes a fortune to $1.1 billion and his daughter is pregnant Shia and his girlfriend broke up for a little while and they get back together at the end with also Douglas who realizes he has a grandson coming .
There was really a lot of drama which I loved about that and great performance by Douglas & Shia also Carey Mulligan .
Definitely got to see the first one to know which one is better . 6.8/10 this movie it wasn't that bad :)
The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman (2013)
The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman
Very powerful dark side movie representing a romance , comedy , action film . Really didn't know what to expect I didn't knew how it was gonna end I thought Charlie would be dead but not exactly .
Starts with Charlie losing his mother then a sudden wish from like a message from his mom to go to Bucarest which he thought she might be saying to Budapest but not . In the airplane he meets Victor which they start talking he sleeps on his arm a lot and they wake up in the morning with Victor no breathing ( dead ) and Charlie unconscionable connects with his daughter she has Nigel her boyfriend who is a gang and a really dangerous person but Charlie without even knowing what he got himself into he just doesn't care because he is in love with Gabi who plays violin . Then he gets to do some experiments with drugs , ecstasy which he hits rock bottom seemed to me like that way . Then Charlie sees a tape with Nigel and Darko another mafia man killing some persons and he gets into a fight with Nigel beating him up he is sent to the police station with instructions of leaving Bucarest right in that moment .
But after seeing the tape goes right to the idea of 'The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman' because he had really seen evidences and he can not live anymore . They try to forget about everything just saying Gabi to Charlie let it go but he won't punches Nigel which he finds himself in a situation in a bridge tied up and Gabi shoots him in that point I thought he was dead it was all over but not quite exactly . Nigel when the cops arrives tries like he has a gun pointing at a cop which ends with death by the officer shooting at him thinking he had a gun . Nigel is dead all is over Gabi & Charlie back together the end .
Didn't expect this performance by Shia but a great f****** job man really I congratulate him I give this movie a perfect 10 it deserved it :D
