Not enough exposure

Warning: Spoilers
I truly love this movie. I watch movies I love over and over. This movie is about a family of church going, complete family, drug dealing son, abusive husband, and the dangers of marrying someone you cannot always respect. Golden is married to a mechanic, but she has a degree and wants to live the high life. She seems to be disgusted with her husband, his dirty job, and his desire to work in the church. Oh, but like so many of us, we don't know how great we have it until we lose it.

The church scenes were beautiful, the singing out of this world. I am so sorry this film did not get more publicity. I have just recently started posting, however I have always purchased movies, so don't let the low ratings fool you. The changes these families go thorough is realistic and fixable. That is when we know we can make it. Sure we have problems, but we have to use them to learn, teach, and move on.

Old saying???? Grass always look greener on the other side!!!!! Congrats to all involved in this movie.

Please BUY this Movie it is great

Warning: Spoilers
This is a movie that was first out thirty-three years ago, and I just found it as it was now on DVD. This down south country young lady has lost her mother, and her aunt from California bring her back to live with her, her husband, three daughters, and I guess the baby belongs to one of the girls. This sister is country right on, wearing shoes with hill that would never allow her to walk straight, let alone in a circle. Her Aunt happens to be a beautician and does things to the niece's hair, which I thought was a waste, because she already had uncombed curls, and her hair was thick and cut. Her two young lady cousins and their boyfriends take her to a party at the college and they are turned down when trying to get a guy to hook up with the country cousin. Finally a tall, and I mean TALL guy hipped up on pills enters the party. THe boyfriends recognize his high state and decides to get him to talk to the country cousin. The tall man's friend loudly gives the boyfriends hell for trying to hook his buddy up with a booga bear, just because he was high. Friend then calls the girls bitches and the county one kicks his rear but good. This starts a good relationship with the girl cousins, their boyfriends, and soon the Tall man. He takes country cousin to a party where a fight breaks out, and we now see the Tall one is a higher up in a gang. Tall man and friend ends up fighting with policemen, taking their guns and beating them. As they are running away, Country cousin breaks from her cousins hold and follows her man. They hide out eventually, and are soon arrested. Country girl has crying fits because she luvvvv tall man. He uses this time to make an ass out of Country cousin. She holds drugs for him, takes the lead in starting a car wash for bail money for her man, then robs a bank. All gang member respect country girl as leader after she jack up one of the girls. When Tall man and friend are released from jail, Country girl waits at the party being thrown for him, but he is not there and Country girl spends her time on the couch being sad. She finally leaves and returns in the morning. She finds Tall man upstairs with a woman in bed. He tells cousin to get out and shut the door. If I am not mistaken the girl in bed with Tall man is the one Cousin jacked up at the car wash, however now all her hair is cut and shaved. When the girl in the bed sees Country girl, she starts moving. Country girl tells her she is free to leave and between Tall man telling her to stay with him, and Country girl saying leave, she LEAVES. Tall man finally tells Country girl he was using her and her could never love a girl with a face like hers and that is probably why her mother died so she would not have to look at her ugly face. Oh well, it is on. Tall man gets in a couple of punches, but Country girl ends up knocking his undershorts wearing body down the house stairs and to the lawn and beats his tool. Most people there, including his best friend loses respect for tall man.

I almost passed this movie up because the cover looked like some wonder woman type of film. I am so glad I bought it. THe country girl is really a beautiful black sister. Most of the actors are not familiar to me, and a lot just did this one movie according to research. The Aunt, I remember seeing on Good Times once, and I believe tall man was on That's my Momma once.

I can watch this movie over and over and still enjoy it each time. The movie is cheap, and it is cool to again see the 1970's Clothes and shoes, not to mention the dancing. GET THIS MOVIE!!!

Were the children really considered?
1 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I waited until I could purchase the movie to watch it, and as I have been with so many life films, I was hurt. There is already enough crime on the streets without our Black sisters and brothers who pull themselves up from poverty hating on each other. I find it tearful that the mother of Tupac and BIggie can hug and be reasonable, but this should have happened years ago. Yes money changes people if only in the way that you have more business choices to make, but it DOES NOT have to change the love and respect you have for your fellowman. The scenes with Lil Kim was so unfair. It shows you right off who the film makers respect, and it was not Kim. So what? Did Biggie have a camera in the private moments with Kim? Why was it necessary to dumb down someone who to this day can be respected. Why was it EVER OK to use the real life son of Biggie? Considering the fast life Biggie led, his offspring will already suffer with public opinion and scorn, so why include a CHILD in this mess? Does he not have enough to overcome to be a productive citizen, husband, father, friend?(consider OJ's children.) Sometimes I cannot be proud of the way our people have come up when we should, because I am always afraid of greed, jealousy and desire to the top gun. I don't know if Biggie was behind the murder of Tupac. I suspect he was indeed angry about some public things said about his family, but I would like to think he was bigger than that to resort to murder. However, I do agree with the thoughts that someone closer to Pac and Biggie in the music world did do this. When people have public display of "upsetness", that gives others the possibility of getting rid of money makers and passing the possibility of murder to others. Do what you want, but one day you will no longer be able to hide your crime, and that is the time and the one you should fear!!!!! I have not heard a lot about Faith, but please know, Biggie and no other man is worth the wear and tear on our minds, bodies and general health. There should be no reason for the women in this movie to be against each other. Neither could have done anything with Biggie if he had not allowed it. Be bigger than TUPAC and BIGGIE and don't wait until a tragedy to know that you ladies should have no beef with each other. In making the movie, people know that if one person is glorified and another dumbed down, it is usually from someone who pretends to know the biggest, the best the most important in the life a man who could have used his gain for the generation following him. TO the ones alive and involved with the whole situation, the world will love you more when you show love for each other. TO BIGGIES'S LADIES...DON'T WAIT UNTIL ANOTHER TRAGEDY before your offspring see you being mature and hugging each other. Clean up now for the next possible world entertainers!!!! Prayerfully submitted...

Cora didn't recognize Clarence Massey?
30 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
When Cora checks Clarence Massey into the hotel, she shows no signs of knowing him by sight, nor his name, yet when his wife Dianna comes to the hotel later, she and Cora speak and Dianna Massey reminds Cora she was at their wedding. It appears that Cora has long been aware of Clarence Massey's affair with Ann. (the hotel manager and mother of Clarence's son.) One would think since Cora knew about the affair, she has probably seen Clarence around Ann before. Ann does not appear to be the type who would share details of her affair with Cora. When Dianna Massey finds out Ann is her husband, Clarence's mistress, Cora's statement to Ann is: "you knew he was married and he is just playing both of you," making it evident she was aware of the affair and that he was Dianna's husband.

Sweet Memories
6 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
After enjoying this show for years, I use to dream of being able to see them all again and share them with my grandchildren. I am so happy to pay a small amount for the memories that I have found recorded on DVD. Florida was a caring mother with a loving hard working husband, one spoiled beautiful daughter and two sons as different as day and night. Michael, the baby son is a freedom walker and JJ is a clown. I know many Afro-Americans disliked this show, but I know many can relate and should have accepted it as it was. My heart was sad when I learned that Ester Rolle had passed. Tyler Perry is now the leading writer actor of today and I support his work, but not as much since he made such cruel mocking of Rolle in one of his plays. No one should have to hear ugly things about physical appearance. The show started getting less interesting when Daddy James died. It picked up a bit when Florida remarried, but slumped when she took an absence from the show. In all, the show was great and again I am pleased to own copies of part of my past. I do try to keep up with the work of the former stars of Good Times, and I must say, they are one group who has not been wiped up and down with rumors. I think children of today will enjoy this show and I have no problem sitting and watching with children. Congrats to the writer, crew, and stars for years of renewed memories of a time that I can once again enjoy without having to skip scenes.

OK so I watch the shows over and over. Lately I have noticed thing that has made me rethink the series, but not dislike them. I think Florida was a bit harsh when it came to money that the children made. Not that the children did not need supervision, but it was done in a way that makes Florida's mothering different. The scenes where Florida had to speak about how other people were not very good looking bothers me now. When James was alive, the show made a big thing out of James wanting his own Fix-it shop, but never lived to see his family out of the projects, but Florida marries someone who owns a fix-it shop. A bit of a slap in the face to an actor who should have ended his time on Good Times showing that he accomplished all he strove for. Lastly, As I watch the shows, I see the series going in to overtime and being renamed "JJ". To be truthful, after James left everything mostly centered around JJ. Not a bad thing, just a noticeable thing. I would not trade my DVD's for any amount of money, but time, maturity and experience began to guide your eyes after a while.

You should be ashame ! ! ! ! ! !!
29 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I was so sadden about one thing in this movie. The writer was creative in having an Afro-American running for the Presidency, and of course, you know he is going to win. Very good points were made through out the film. Imagine having whores just for the Government workers. The comedy is very typical of the Star. His girlfriend drops him like a hot potato (Did I spell potato correctly?"), until she finds out he is running for President of the United States. By that time he has become involved with another beautiful young lady, and yes, lady two will be the First Lady. This guy gets knocked to the ground with words of discouragement from a sister who was suppose to help him run, but not win. In the end she made a stand and did the right thing giving honest support. So what is there to be ashamed of? I sent this movie to a fire when the statement about Jon Benet was made. It was the lowest thing next to a snakes' belly, and I am not going to support this further. An apology needs to be made to the family and to everyone who purchased this movie. What a low down dirty shame.

One of the better Low Budget films
28 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This film was indeed an enjoyable one. It happens in reality that we sometimes envy our friends who are doing well with their finances. Diane brought this all on herself, and the way she trailed behind Russ(a successful attorney, young and retiring) was shameful. Friends don't give friends kisses on the lips that linger. Diane's husband, (Donte) was a hard worker and even though he suspected Diane of loving Russ, he still was madly in love with her, yet she made the decision to cheat in her marriage with another attorney she bumped into after leaving the courthouse.(Using her day off work to see Attorney Russ do his thing in court.) This man went berserk, kidnapping Russ's wife. and in his mind it was revenge. Diane's attitude toward her husband created so many problems it led to his death. He was never going to harm Russ's wife. Others concerned with this family also thought Russ and Diane were kicking it. In the end Ms Diane ended up without the house her husband had bought her, and had to move into an apartment. The best thing Diane did was later confess to her long time Attorney Friend,(Brook, who assisted her in obtaining a restraining order), that she lied and that Don had only tried to love her and his reactions were brought on by the way she treated him. Robin Givens played the role as Diane to the top. She is an ace actress or she was having flash backs. When Don knocked dishes from her hand, the movement of her right arm showed fear as well as the look she gives over her cup of coffee the morning Don is leaving the home to stay in a motel. For those who don't see life actions in this film, watch it again.

Restaurant (1998)
Life on Film
27 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This movie cost me less than two-dollars so I knew it would be one that I pop in the player, pop out, and file with my other movies. This has to be one of the best films yet. It is reality. Struggling actors, screenwriters, singers etc., all working in a Restaurant. The closeness of the workers jumps out to make you familiar. True to life, it shows bigotry from the boss, friendship, inter-racial love, jealousy, alcoholics, drug users, hay rollers, and a bit of hatred. You will still consider this film a great one because the good out-weighs the bad. When one of the friends who is loved, is murdered, it brings tension and hurt that results in racial slurs. This seems to shock some because the one who says it has had two known black girl-friends. However shocking, the crew knows the guy is just hurt and shocked about what just happened to his best friend. This same guy is a play writer who has hatred for another worker (an actor), that slept with his ex-girlfriend. He finds out the actor was given the lead in his play when he was too drunk or hung over to attend the auditions. The second tear jerking scene is when the screenwriter compliments the actor for a job well done just before the actor head out to play a part in a soap opera. It is a shame this movie has not gotten the publicity it deserves. Two thumbs up for all involved in making this film, and the ones who provided the space to let others know it exist.

I am too through with low budgets
23 January 2008
As a retiree, I fill a lot of time watching movies. I try to support the low budget films but after seeing this movie, I am too through with low budgets. This is the fourth film I had to eject at a certain point, never to view it again. I went to get a cherry lime soda and there was this green particle on the outer cup. I got really paranoid and insisted it be fixed again. It was only a small piece of lime but after partially viewing these unbelievable waste of tapes, I was taking no chance. It seems people who make these films are too obsessed with nose picking, passing gas, and filthy body waste. In the future, if someone vouches for certain low budget films, I will buy it, but never never, never will I choose one because it seems to be interesting. It is not necessary for the disgusting scenes. You turn me OFF!

Love heals all wounds
13 January 2008
As late as today, I have watched this movie. I try to read all I can about the situation on the internet, and believe me there is a lot. First I have no kind words for beaters. I read where Betty related that the movie is harsher than the story she told. To that I say, "Send all that harsh money to your ex-husband with a note of apology to him and his family." As a Doctor training in a "not so nice foreign country," I doubt seriously if Moody made plans to return to his country for good, and leave all the property he managed to acquire. To Matoob, I say, "You were young, please don't let your father pass away without hearing from his only child just one time". It is easy to write a letter. Betty, if you were beaten, I am so very sorry, but perhaps you can rest in peace knowing that Dr. Moody is a beaten man in his country. This man married you with two children already, and gave you a beautiful home life and a beautiful daughter. When you weigh the good and the bad, please don't let all your new money lean on the bad. You are now safe, you are wealthy, you have your family, so don't gain property and lose your soul. and let him try to have a nice end to his life. Encourage your daughter to write him. We have horrible parents here in America, but when maturity jumps in, we can tell our children, "That is a part of you". Even if parents had been less than parents, lovingly say, "I forgive you, and love you, even if we cant be together." It is time to slow your roll on making money off this unknown truth of your situation. You have told your story, grow up, put a little love in your heart, and move on.

Where was the Preacher in time of need?
9 August 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Excellent movie. identifiable with the African American Families. Mama Jo was a strong parent seeking only the very best for her fatherless family. The responsibility of raising a child after a parent dies is so right! The jealousy of siblings is right on, and the ability to still love each other was so familiar. African Americans may see themselves in this film. We do love to cook big meal, and we do love to feed others. I wonder if inviting the Pastor to Sunday dinners is happening. One thing is a puzzle to me....Rev. enjoyed the dinners, and the wedding, so where was he when the great cook Mama Jo was in the hospital, and at her burial? It is strange because after Mama Jo passes away, The good Rev. is again sitting at her dinner table. And how can one believe all the money that was packed in the back of Uncle's portable TV. In the movie, the narrator says that the Uncle had not left his room in years but sits there watching his TV.
