It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963)
Funny then and funny now
I remember this movie from childhood . Dick Shaw made me laugh then and he still does. Ethel Merman might have been playing herself? Who knows but her delivery was and is funny to me. So many funny bits. Yes, it's a bit long but with 56 stars in it (I think) how could it be otherwise?
American Tragedy (2019)
Missed the point
Lots of teenagers are depressed but almost none murder their friends and classmates in a murderous rampage. Mother is in denial trying to ease her conscience. Her son was evil.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
Love, love this movie
One of the best time travel and action movies. I can watch over and over again. Each time you watch you see something you missed in earlier viewings. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt have great chemistry. I love them both in this.
The Durrells (2016)
Yuck! A horny mother and obnoxious kids
I wanted to like this but it was impossible. I made it only to the beginning of the third episode. Did the writers remember this was supposed to be in the 1930s? The idea of the horny mother, the obnoxious children ,etc. Do you really believe a mother in the 1930s would permit her son and girlfriend to sleep together while her younger son was aware of what was going on? And the two of them making out in front of guests-how ridiculous and improbable for that time or any time! Pathetic!! Writers were lazy. What a missed opportunity.
Michelangelo: A Self Portrait (1989)
Awful, awful, awful
The music-the narration-which was worse? I couldn't say. I had to turn it off halfway.
Grantchester: Episode #5.4 (2020)
Disappointing
The writing is off this season. Everything seems off and strained and totally implausible. Have they given up the fight? I don't think I'll be watching the next episode.
The Conscientious Objector (2004)
Wow! What a story
Desmond Doss was a humble hero and a great man. This was truly an inspirational story that brought me to tears at the conclusion. I found his faith in God so beautiful. He served his country and stayed true to God and to himself. I highly recommend watching to it's conclusion. He was truly a member of the greatest generation. It would have been an honor to know him.
Vera (2011)
Consistently great year after year
Vera is one of my favorite shows. I've seen every episode from the beginning. Sometimes the plot can get a bit convoluted with quick breakaways and lots of characters, but there's always a satisfactory conclusion. The acting is first rate! The best part for me is they treat the viewer (me) like I have a brain.
The Investigator: A British Crime Story (2016)
Do yourself a favor and skip it
Well, all I can say is it's a Simon Cowell Production. I just wasted a lot of time getting nowhere fast . This missing lady may be alive or maybe she's dead. We knew that at the start. Truly awful!!! Wish I reward some reviews before I started watching.
The ABC Murders (2018)
THATS AN HOUR I'LL NEVER GET BACK!
What an awful, awful adaptation. Don't waste your time. Even one hour was too long. As others have noted it was grim, dark and smutty. This version had none of the charm and humor that Agatha Christie imbues her stories with. I'll stick with the books or David Suchet's great interpretation.
Jack Ryan (2018)
Really exciting storyline
I was really hooked after the first episode. The acting is great and John Krasinski is no longer 'Jim' in my mind.; he's Dr. Jack Ryan and how!
