Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Franks is the opposite of Jordan Peterson
It's just mental how Jordan Peterson is projected by celebrities & msm. Ignorance of the highest order!
Anyone who has a bad thing to say about him has literally never listened to him talk.
Summary of movie (spoilers). The whole thing is a simulation. Jack is a bum, and Alice is a hard working doctor. Jack see's Alice as unhappy, stressed and tired due to long hours to make ends meet. Jack discovers Frank who offers an easy fix, whereby he can take Alice prisoner and force her into a simulation. Perfect world for anyone who never questions reality (how do they pooh/wee in the real world?). This is obviously impossible for a successful hard working doctor like Alice.
Now a Jordan Peterson figure would help guide Jack, show him a path to better himself. He would 100% not recommend the path of least resistance that leads to further detriment themselves and possibly others around them.
Olivia Wilde, an interesting attempt, barely watchable after 20 minutes (imo, but I can see why others may enjoy it), but please enlighten your views by actually listening to what Jordan Peterson is teaching. Stop the ignorance by taking 5 second CNN clips as gospel. He is due an apology at least, perhaps I'll even update my review to a fair 5/10 if he gets one!
Dark Matter (2024)
Worth a watch!
I haven't read the book, so I watched this series with a fresh slate. Slow start, but it quickly became very enticing. Some very intriguing ideas and very well portrayed. Some of the latter episodes dragged a little especially the finale.
The whole season just follows the perspective of protagonist Jason & antagonist Jason. I would have liked to have seen more of the different worlds, especially from the perspective of the other characters that are dragged through the box.
I guess that is too far from the source material and perhaps something for new writers to pick up! The story wraps up nicely enough whilst leaving the door open for anyone creative enough to convince Apple to fund a follow up! I for one would give it a watch!
Gangs of London (2020)
Fun to watch, not great!
As soon as you get over how far fetched this show is, you can enjoy it. The gore and brutality is brilliant, the story arch in season 1 is not bad, but in season 2, it's all over the place.
I just don't get Sean's character? He's just a maniac who doesn't care for his actions, he will always end up either dead or in prison. I found myself in season 1 having a connection with all the gang leaders, however in season 2 not so much. In Season 2, everyone is just terrified of Koba who himself is just like Sean, an utter maniac. I found myself not really enjoying the constant backstabbing, and found myself winding forwards some of the real dragged out episodes/scenes.
I will watch season 3 (if it is to come), hopefully it is more like season 1 which has a more refined plot and better character building.
Fingers crossed!
Foundation (2021)
Not read the books, really enjoying so far!
I haven't read the books, but I'm enjoying this a lot! The story is interesting and the script is good & well acted! I don't get why people say this is slow, everything is very interesting and engaging. There's obviously a huge universe to cover, I'm glad nothing is rushed. I'm looking forwards to more episodes! If you like the expanse on prime, you'll enjoy this!
Chaos Walking (2021)
Interesting concept, wrong direction
The concept is interesting enough, but there just isn't enough reasoning by the motives of the evil men in this movie. Killing off the women just wouldn't make any sense in any group/society especially considering it's the actions of many men not just a few.
The native species seemed rather interesting, and it's clear as the film goes on that humans and the natives are co-existing, but all we get is made up war stories and one encounter that lasted less than a minute.
Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley were the only two keeping me going! How does such a bad plots get funding, I reckon I would do a better job!
The Girl with All the Gifts (2016)
Worth a watch if you're into post apocalyptic films
Another zombie apocalypse, worth a watch! Some originality and some of the same old. I've seen a lot of negative reviews about the ending, but I disagree, original ending, not expected.
Unfortunately, nothing blew me away, I wasn't on the edge of my seat, and I won't be in a rush to watch it again so hence my 6/10. That being said, I can't point my finger at any overriding negatives!
Fractured (2019)
Utterly dreadful
Anyone who rates this high clearly must disagree with IMDB top 250. 1 star for the movie and. 2nd star for Sam Worthington's acting (I hope he was paid well) as that was the only thing that kept me from switching off early on. Awful script and direction.
