The story is so compelling and all too familiar with what is going on in our society. Very few films now-a-days hold up a mirror to real life but this film does just that. It really makes you think, makes you wonder what is right, what is wrong and what is just. What would you do? The grittiness of the film makes you feel like you are in it, living the awful situation the family is going through. It's still amazing how sports and the accolades it brings can make people look the other way when truly unjust and horrible things happen. All for the sake of money and prestige. This is a must see for this generation.

This is such a lovely film. The special effects are absolutely stunning and magical, except for the rain scene towards the end which looked digital. I first watched this film when I was young and fell in love with it. All the actors had great chemistry, especially Jim's three best friends with their pranks and immature behavior. Phoebe Cates was masterful in her comedic timing and played the jealous girlfriend beautifully. Emmanuelle Beart was the perfect actor to play such a childlike and innocent Angel. I watched this film again as an adult and it still brings me joy and makes me laugh. It's a shame it didn't get the recognition it deserves.
