Industry (2020)
More Ken Leung and less whiny, ironic Gen Z, please!
To be honest, the only reason I watched "Industry" was because of actor Ken Leung (who plays Eric Tao). Too bad that Ken was barely in Season 1, and instead I had to endure one UNsexy sex scene after another with a countless assortment of characters who had zero chemistry with each other whatsoever. I guess HBO thinks bad pseudo-porn counts as great drama these days? My suggestion is to focus more attention on the interesting characters (besides Eric Tao, that Rishi character is pretty funny). And kill off all the endless number of naked whiners, stat! I never thought a show could make human debauchery so incredibly yawn-inducing, but "Industry" has certainly managed to accomplish that so Congrats!
Making the Cut (2020)
Season 3 is soooooooo much better than 1 & 2!
It's great that "MTC" is finally returning to what really matters in Season 3: The Designers and their creative process. Season 1&2 were truly painful, trying to turn Heidi and Tim into Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers (nope!) For me, the best episode so far in Season 3 was the one where all the designers had to collaborate and came up with the "Italian Funeral" theme...absolutely brilliant, and it really brought out all their best talents! Seems like "MTC" is finally headed in the right direction, and I hope that they don't screw it up! Love Tim Gunn! But I really do miss the hilarious snark of Michael Kors from the original "Project Runway". Can we bring Michael Kors back, pretty please!!!
Code Name: Dynastud (2018)
You can tell the whole team had a blast making "Dynastud"!
If you enjoy sharp satire wrapped up in a whole lot of goofiness and fun, look no further than "DYNASTUD"!!! Destined to be a Cult Classic... watch this with a group of your best buds, for sure!
It's Me, Ma (2019)
Really solid acting!
The two leads in "It's Me, Ma" do a great job. Their back and forth banter was actually quite funny at times. The film keeps you guessing... which one of the characters is sane? Which one is going to seriously lose it? I found myself changing my mind throughout the film as to who was truly bonkers.
The Stoop (2015)
Reminds me of the lyrical Romanticism of Jim Jarrmusch's classic "Stranger Than Paradise"!
There's something about "The Stoop" that brought me back to the lyrically romantic Jim Jarmusch indie-darling "Stranger Than Paradise".
For me, "The Stoop" is about the fear of breaking out of your comfort zone... how we all talk ourselves out of the possibilities of love, adventure and The Vast Unknown.
You recognize yourself in the lead protagonist's deep-seated Inertia. That's why you go through so many moments of frustration with him, trying to figure out if he'll be able to--FINALLY--Connect... because he so desperately needs to.
If you have a taste for flawed, lovable characters, grappling with their rampant insecurities, spend some time with the locals on "The Stoop" for sure!
Imposter (2018)
Intriguing film about Alienation in our Modern Society...
What I loved about Chris Esper's short-film "Imposter" is its subtlety. The music, the mood, the atmosphere all build on you moment by moment. And in doing that, he makes a strong statement about Depression and Alienation in today's world. But he accomplishes that without beating you over the head with a heavy Message. Not an easy thing to do in 13 minutes!
I was lucky enough to catch "Imposter" during its Film Festival circuit.
I would happily watch a feature-version of "Imposter" because I found the characters to be very compelling. The one who stood out for me the most was the Woman standing alone at the Art Gallery. Her wordless expressions were quite heart-breaking.
Kudos to the Director for bringing us into the worlds of these damaged souls. Great pacing!
Vampariah (2016)
Great humor mixed in with stylish vampire-slaying!
I think the best way to approach watching "Vampariah" is to go into it with no expectation on how a film about the undead is suppose to unfold.
While many of the visual effects were quite impressive, what I enjoyed most was the tongue-in-cheek humor and the subtle swipes of social satire. This movie is fun, and I think some people watching it are taking it way too seriously.
I also loved the satire on ghost-hunting docudrama-type shows. I wanted to see even more of that.
"Vampariah" is an impressive and ambitious debut-feature!

Tokyo Alice (2017)
No idea why this has such low Reviews!!!
The main character in "Tokyo Alice" is hilarious! I was laughing in the very first episode.
I don't get the harsh critiques of this Series. Not every Series has to take itself so seriously. I wholly embrace the corny humor, the girl power, the bright colors, the clothes.
Judge for yourself!
Citizens United (2015)
Writer/Director Brave to Tackle Subject of Widespread Corruption!
I wish more Filmmakers would tackle the injustice of how Large Corporations completely control our government. "Citizens United"--and its effect on ALL of our lives--should be on everyone's mind. Films SHOULD make us think as well as feel! I think the Filmmaker was trying to show ordinary citizens trying to take a stand against our modern-day Goliath. And he was trying to leave us with an overall positive message: Yes, there are huge forces manipulating the system against us... but that cannot stop people who want a better future!!! The film has an extremely motivating tone to it. Also it was great to see multiple- Emmy-winning actor Ed Asner in this.
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)
Finally! A damn-funny film with 2 talented Asian-American leads
Bravo to Hurwitz, Leiner and Schlossberg for having the guts to write for and cast two great Asian-American roles! Hopefully this is just the beginning for Asian and Asian-American talent... Congratulations also to John Cho and Kal Penn -- you ROCKED!!
By the way, I grew up in Jersey so I could really appreciate the portrayal of the young "thug" types as well as references to the Almighty White Castle.
By the way, does anyone happen to know who the agents are for Cho and Penn?
Keep the great work coming...
