Look, this is not an underappreciated movie that some day it will be recognized as a misunderstood at its times, masterpiece. There are many ridiculous scenes (the arrow scene in the end for example. The awkward dialogue at some scenes that almost made me feel second hand embarassment, like the "back to the club" scene)
Yes, some times it looks like a disaster. But i liked it. I could watch easily another hour, i found it interesting and there were some brilliant lines. Again, it's not as brilliant as it thinks but there are many amazing scenes, like the statues falling in the ground, some dream-like, almost surreal scenes where i was captivated. And the conflict between the visionary Caesar and his enemies, was fascinating at times.
Adam Driver had one of the most difficult acting jobs ever. I bet he understood quickly that this movie will face a lot of criticism, to say at least. He knew it. And his effort was Herculean. He had to carry this movie on his shoulders knowing that something feels off. I think he deserves a lot of recognition and praise. I loved every moment of him on the screen, even when i didn't understand what the hell he was doing. Was he unintentionally funny at some times? Maybe. But whatever he was doing, he was still interesting to watch.
I love overambitious movies, even when they fail. I would prefer to watch movies like MEGALOPOLIS for ever than these garbage movies of this decade. Of course, there are some good movies in this decade, but most of them make the viewers waste their time, there is nothing artistic nor intelligent, they make you dumber.
There is a lot of creativity here. There are even moments of greatness. I don't know if i should recommend it, but if you want to watch something different than the average garbage, this is it.

I wasn't even born when this movie came out but i guess it had been viewed as cynical. It's kinda sad that today, this looks like sweet and innocent.
A good political satire. This has nothing to do with comedy, as it's labelled here, among other genres. I could say, nothing to do woth drama either. No dramatic moments, not intense moments, characters don't show much their emotions. It's more like a documentary i'd say, and it looks flat and bland at times, but if you watch carefully, you'll see a lot of things. You'll see the transformation of an idealist man to something he cannot even comprehend (Thus, his weird behavior during the last minutes). You'll see what politics does to a well intended person, even when he doesn't have to face something extremely evil or corrupted. Just repeating the same words at his tours and speeches..
Redford is excellent. Such restrained performances are much harder than more "extrovert" ones. During the last 20 minutes, he's even breathtaking. Keep in mind though, this is a subtle movie, with subtle performances. A movie that respects its viewers and it requires patience and intelligence. Not everything is being spoken nor shown.
I didn't love it, but i am glad i watched it. This is an important movie.

My ratings for his previous stand ups :
Caligula : 9,1/10
Thoughts and Prayers : 8,6/10.
Fire in the Maternity Ward : 7,8/10.
Jeselnik is one of my favorite stand up comedians, as it shows from my ratings. I think he's brilliant and hilarious, although i admit his shows are not for everyone. Too macabre and dark and twisted. So, if you are not aware of his particular style of humor, and you like your stand up a bit sanitized and conventional, attention : He doesn't fool around. He's dark and nihilistic as it can get.
This is my least favorite stand up of his. Truth be told, his shows are getting gradually less good. But they're still good, actually, very good. More than 50% of his jokes here are hilarious, i laughed hard and had a good time, overall. Still, BONES AND ALL is better than the average stand up tv show. It should have been longer, the jokes are not too many and the last 10-15 minutes are not as funny as the previous ones. But, he still got it.
