Well, it ain't Shakespeare. Of course, no movie with the word "nude" in the title is. And, too, any movie with a double entendre in the title is not meant to be taken seriously. However, taken as it is intended--as a throwback to 70's exploitation films--it is spot on. The story, the acting, and the special effects (split screen, etc) reflect the kind of movie that played at midnight at the drive-in. The production values, however, take advantage of modern technology to deliver a crisp sound and vision (albeit often stylishly tinted an arid amber.) The story is less a revenge picture per se than a spaghetti western. The lead character's motive is not revenge so much as religious fervor: it is a shoot-out between good and evil, defending the weak and dealing out justice in a place that God has forsaken.
As for the anti-Catholic bias: yes, there are many Catholic authority figures who are bad guys, but the victims and the heroine are also Catholic. The movie isn't saying that the Catholic Church is all bad, but that corruption at the highest level in any system of unquestioned authority can have dire consequences, consequences that require an equally dire solution. Oh, and placing a drug operation within the church is very shocking, even in this jaded day and age.
So if you like Tarintino you should like this film. If you don't like exploitation cinema, then don't view it.

I love Lovecraft and I love low-budget, indie, B-movies. Normally if a movie has a low rating on IMDb it is my kind of movie. I hate giving movies a bad review.
However, when I put this DVD into my DVD player, the poor machine threw up. It is just that bad. The "acting" (and I use that term loosely) is beyond amateurish and is very painful to watch. I have had root canals at the dentist that were less painful.
The film earns a 1/10 stars because the title sequence was kinda cool, and, as is mentioned elsewhere, the flashback scenes were passable. Otherwise, this stinker is to be avoided at all costs. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
