I agree with a number of negative reviews here. I am embarassed by the movie that tried to marry Norwegian and Indian bumpkins. At first the Indian character seems to be more worldly polite and nice, but of course he completely disregards others feeling and 'ruin's a holiday just because he lacks basic etiquette and care for other people feelings. But same goes for his Norwegian couterparts, they 'appear' to be cultured and civilized yet have no class and manage to put their guest into difficult / unplease situation and then blame him for not measuring up.
I give this movie 1 star: however uninspiring it is, it gives a realistic picture of the ?average. Most people do stick to traditions, xenophobic instincts etc. - and with the right marching on everywhere, it is not even so embarassing anymore!

Well, i would have enjoyed seeing the faces of all these beautiful actors of the same generation in a 5 minutes of almost silence rather than 2 hours of fluff. The movie left with only with the question: why are all the beautiful people here? Don't they have some brains not to be in a movie like this?
I did enjoy the clothes a 'rich' character wears and (I would ike like to add an 'and' but there is nothing to add really).
I did not see this movie when it came out, and there is a non-romance related reason for that: I knew it was bad. Sometimes, as time passes we forget how bad things are, well trust your younger self, in case you want to pick up this movie for some nostalgic reason.

Middle Life -- when does it come? Really depends on your development curve. For some at 50, for some at 30. You reach a dead end in character development, what the writer (e.g. Little natural selection and such) to do? Kill, let them still float if they can, but somewhere out of sight. I gave this an 8, because I believe, even if unknownly, the Coens bring this meaning of life question: the answer in the title, burn of living, nothing's left. I know the spy movie thing, the sexual comedy, the dunning kruger effect, the great show piece for particular actors, the dark humor -- all is there too, and not too well developed or used. But this touch on middle life crisis, which is rarely addressed in American movies, I really appreciated.
