This is a pure action movie that still managed to find time to explore:
Rakes tragic past that affects him
The kids disgust and sadness at being the son of a ruthless drug lord and being treated like a possession
Sajus love and fear for his family, particularly his son
Amirs mentor relationship with that phycho kid
(very briefly) you get to see a bit of rakes friendship with that other aussie guy before things go sour.
That for me is a lot for a movie like this, enough to feel something with each fight scene. Films like this benefit from simple stories so that it gets to focus more on the characters and action. Logan, The last of us, stories like those involving a badass taking care of someone who needs their help dont have convoluted storylines that would just ruin it. Just a simple end goal, and the journey to it and the emotions and rollercoasters that come along with it.

I just watched it, I thought it started strong but got confused at the end. I loved seeing Natives on screen. The story was a bit all over the place for me, and I felt like the conflict in the movie wasnt as strong. The baby scene at the beginning was deadly, I thought that would set the tone but the rest felt weak. Way to go for the natives being immune tho,
Just saw this film on Netflix after being a huge fan of William since I first retweeted a story about him years ago. He astounded me then - but I didn't know the struggle he endured just to get his windmill running and at so young an age. I'm SO glad his story has been brought to the screen. What a treat for all of us to see and learn.
This was an EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT film - 20 cuts above the main. From beginning to end - acting, directing, cinematography, but most especially - the story. The screenwriting was phenomenal - how expertly they packed a riveting story into two hours without lagging, without losing interest - EVERYTHING about this film was intelligent, inspiring, wholesome, life-affirming - if it were playing at a high end movie theater i would gladly have paid top dollar to see it. I cannot say enough good about it - except now I want to buy the DVD. And that kid - Maxwell Simba - what an outstanding actor! Watching this made you fall in love with the whole family and the others as well, and you find you want only the very best of the very best for them. But especially for William. This film is a real jewel. Please see it if you want to restore your faith in man. A must see.
Did I mention that I LOVED this film? Finally - in the caldron of Hollywood dross, a cinematic diamond! Well done - the lot of you! Well done!
