This is a movie about a strong, proud man, returning from a jail. As he tries to reconnect to his life, he realizes that he has been changed to the point where he no longer can do "wrong" without thinking about it. He realizes that he has been abused by his friends and tries to avoid that abuse - which then resembles honorable life. But at and, he honorably fails. Whith a bit of open end, the movie let us finish the story by our liking. I am surprised that such a good movie had so little marketing/distribution. It has been made in a way to be understandable worldwide, not only locally. I personally never heard of it (and i live in the country where they made it), but the title song has been so good that i started to do some research on it. And check the story-writer - it is his last work. He must had some understanding of the people. 9/10 for me.

It would be simply perfect, with 3 exceptions: - Very deep colorization is a powerful tool, but should have continuity. Changing the color tones without reason is disturbing - On the beginning is one special shot (involving the accordion), which will tell how it will end – which is a major spoiler for me - Typical Czech end, where movie cannot end with negative emotions and we must add something, even if it doesn't adds to the story

The story was IMO very good, it wasn't quite clear where it will move in the next minute/cut. Camera was very good, especially those quick/slow motions, which has added to the pacing. For a natural Czech language watcher, there was a problem with a casting, where some characters which should have no knowledge of Czech language, one can hear Czech accent – sometimes. Details, but masterpiece is made of details. That's why only 7/10 (and considering it was movie from my era)

Well, i live in Sweden in 6 years now and i can say that they generally have a problem like shown in the movie. but even for somebody coming from other cultural background i believe it has much and much to say. especially the thing with omission of the anticlimax - it will simply bring you to create your own. perfect - in every sense that the technology of '56 allowed. It really touched me, maybe because i am just in the phase of '37 which means reevaluating your entire life. And this really showed me how could i end, if i don't pay attention (means stays here in Sweden - no offense meant, simply other culture). generally this is a miracle movie which will work above the time.
