Wong & Winchester (2023)
Doesn't take itself too seriously
I have to say I love the show - it doesn't take itself too seriously - doesn't hide the fact that it's Canada - the interplay between the characters is fabulous - like any great "family" dynamic there is an undercurrent of respect whatever the "words" might be.
The character of Marissa Wong Is loud and brash - partly because she's fighting her own demons - but she is good at what she does
The character of Sarah Winchester is positive and eager - lots of ideas but unsure of herself which provides a perfect foil for Marissa
Marissa's business partner, Gary Johnson brings them together and provides another foil for Marissa
It's fun, tongue-in-cheek and an enjoyable way to spend an hour.
The Old Guard (2020)
Good action but predictable
I called the ending about a third of the way into it - some beautiful cinematography combined with some just basic problems that other people were making comments about like surprisingly empty London streets then suddenly people are everywhere - it was a little Bizzarre - Enjoyable but with a little bit of work it could've been great - Assuming this is going to be some sort of series if they step up their game I would definitely watch - I mean the actors are great so tighten the script toss the cliches tighten the direction and you could have something really fun
Doctor Who (2005)
Please stop over explaining
Season 12 started great with it's fantastic 2 parter but episode 3 - On the one hand I did enjoy it - I love Jody Whitaker's doctor And I enjoy her companions And part of me just loved what they did with the story but as it went on and discoveries are made the writing can be just too preachy (Still it wasn't as bad as some of the episodes in last season with the preachiness) - instead of allowing the viewer to figure out for themselves some of the lessons learned or meant to be learned I find it gets over explained and I feel a bit Like a little kid being scolded by their parent - Stories are meant to teach not preach and learning happens when the listener makes Those connections themselves - When I get preached at I want to turn it off and that makes me sad
Killjoys (2015)
Binge worthy
Just finished watching the last episode of season five And sad to say goodbye to just a bunch of great characters - For me I struggled a bit with season three but wow season four and fIve were incredible - just a shout out to the Syfy channel And do consider making perhaps a different show with the same characters but love the way you finished out this storylines - I do see some reviews where people Comment on shoddy effects etc. But I don't really think that matters too much when there's a strong story happening - It's old-school storytelling with A lot of tongue in cheek camaraderie and for me it work's
