Victory by Submission (2017)
Lazy Effort
Amazing that movies like this ever see the light of day. You have to wonder if anyone involved in the production has ever seen an actual movie before.
Everything about this movie was bad - literally not one redeeming quality. Curious why Bellator would bother to invest in a Christian movie. But then again their brand was a laughing stock and part of why they're no longer a company.
Whoever financed this movie should be embarrassed for the money they wasted and the time they've taken from all of the people that had the misfortune of being subjected to this pathetic attempt at film.
1 out of 10, without hesitation.
Candy Land (2022)
Thought I Found a Gem..
This movie started out really interesting. I thought it was going to present a more realistic thriller. It has decent character development and above average cinematography. Unfortunately It has the vibes of a movie that didn't get picked up so they drastically altered the plot to make it a horror/slasher.
I can't help but to think this movie would've been much better served without the antagonist being a 1 girl army. The movie is entertaining at times but ultimately falls short on what seemed like the start of a good thriller.
Sam Quartin did a fantastic job as the main character. The film had a lot of promise and while ultimately disappointing it was still worth watching.
Deadstream (2022)
Was excited...
Going into the movie. Then I realized the reviews/rankings are likely all from shills and bots. Absolutely terrible movie with no redeeming qualities.
I enjoy Shudder as a source for horror movies. I'm just baffled that a company that seems to be putting together a nice selection for horror fans would get behind this film. I was planning to renew my subscription after October ends but there's no chance I'll do that with original content like this.
There are some really explicitly bad horror movies from the 80's that routinely score under 5 on IMDB. Those movies are entertainable and engaging compared to this dumpster fire.
Tales of an American Hoodrat (2019)
Should be called 'Tales of Suburban Privilidge'
The acting was poor at best. The story seemed like it was thought up by a group mixed of DARE and church propagandists. I didn't hate watching this but I also couldn't wait for it to end. Oddly enough even the ending disappointed because of how forced/fake it was. This movie tries to paint some picture of adolescent growth but it just hits down on all the overplayed stereotypes in extreme manners.
I would never watch this movie again but I was slightly entertained and humored at times. I think that warrants at least 3 stars.
