I had the privilege not only seeing the movie Spook Bridge during its local premiere, but also the privilege of being in the film. Therefore, my comments on the film could be construed to be a little bias. However, on a review, let the chips fall where they may. While watching the film, I saw an occasional extra time spent on a scene or two that could have been edited to make the scene a little more concise. But then I would like to ask anyone to tell me that they have never seen, even in the biggest budget films with the best directors, a little wasted time. I thought the special effect were also very good. The Director and the Director of Cinematography utilized the time spent with actors during film wisely. I admire the energy Kirkland and Sebastian spent to edit and promote a really good film. The people of Brooks County and the City of Quitman should be proud to have been a part of Spook Bridge. I saw one review that stated that the film made all the people in the area appear to be red necks and various other descriptive names that I won't repeat. However, a film is a fiction unless otherwise indicated as a true story. Therefore, since when did we start stereotyping people, if we do, we shouldn't, as portrayed in the film as indicative of the actual people in the area where a film was shot? I stated to friends after the premier that Spook Bridge is as good as or better than a lot of films I have watched on Netflix and other venues that include many early film makers such as Roy Kirkland and Doug Sebastian. I still stand by that comment and when you get to see it, you will say the same.
