The Justice the fans deserved
18 March 2021
I can't put into words how exceptional this film is without spoiling it. I was fearing it be a let down would despite the amazing reviews but, I was wrong and can honestly say, I've never felt so happy watching another director cut of the same film and it being not only having the praise it deserves but the bindication for all the fans that prayed we would get this version.

It is long and it does come in parts. I don't care how you watch it, JUST WATCH IT.

Look at it as a continuation and not a sequel
5 March 2021
I've seen a lot of negative reviews on here for this film and to be honest, It's getting to the point I can't take any reviews seriously on here.

Here's my completely unbiased take not expecting for one minute to live up to the original.

Is the film funny? - Yes in places it is. I wasn't laughing the whole way through but, there was more than enough laughs through out this film to keep me entertained. I have no idea what viewers that have allegedly seen the film were expecting? On top of that It's Rated 12 in the UK so, It was never going to have the language or some of the jokes that were present in the original film.

For me, It was a nice little trip down memory lane. It was lovely to see how Akeem and Lisa were as King And Queen with Three kids in tow. In parts, Lisa handles being Queen a Lot better than Akeem does as King. Akeem is now a King, A Father, A Husband and Ruler of Zamunda and has a lot to juggle so for Akeem, a lot of the story has to do with rediscovering who he is.

Shari Headley As Lisa looks even better with age and the chemistry she had with Murphy in the first film is still there.

Whilst we end up in familiar territory with Coming2America (No Spoilers) If you take this as a continuation of the story of Akeem then you won't be disappointed. If you are looking for this film to surpass the original then I would advise not to bother watching.

I just like to add the supporting cast of characters especially Wesley Snipes as General Izzi were more than fine and competent in their roles and the return of some old favourites and a few surprises add a little bit more to the happy factor when watching.

Don't get me wrong, In the middle of the film, I didn't find myself laughing as much but, The last 20 minutes, redeemed the film for me.

In closing, I don't think they ever set out to win any awards but the 1-3 star reviews it's been getting are rubbish. I've rated it a 6 because as I said, the middle of the film is a bit flat but, the beginning and end make that up for me.

Just don't view it as a sequel, view it as a continuation to the original and you may be pleasantly surprised and, ignore any 1-3 stars reviews because they are fake.

Mr. Church (2016)

If there was ever a time the critics were wrong!!
26 September 2020
Then this is it.

I seriously do not know what film the critics were watching but, this is an absolutely fantastic film. You will see a performance from Eddie Murphy you haven't seen since Dreamgirls. In fairness, I think his performance in this film is a country mile better so, If you enjoyed him in Dreamgirls, You will be floored by his acting in this film.

Its an actual crime he got no Academy nomination for this film.

No spoilers here. I implore you to give this film a view. Emotions you thought you might have lost, will all of a sudden come back to you.

If you are still reading this review .....Why? Go watch Mr Church right now!

The Fanatic (2019)
7/10
Not an instant Classic but not nowhere near as terrible as it's been made out!
6 September 2019
Who seriously writes the crappy reviews on here? .. By no means is this an oscar winner but, this is a good little film being peed on for no reason. John Travolta plays his role excellently as Moose an autistic fan just wanting what every fan wants from their favourite actor or an actress........ An autograph!

Without ruining the film, Circumstances prevent this and Moose, Slowly realizes that his favourite actor Hunter Dunbar played by Devon Sawa is not everything he is cracked up to be.

I will say the ending did surprise me in a good way.

Please ignore crappy reviews for this film. By no means is it an oscar winner but, for what it is, The Fanatic easily passes the time.

A return to form for Seagal?
26 April 2015
Without any spoilers as a direct to DVD film this is one of Seagal better efforts. Please don't listen to the critic's Technically it's a well executed film. Seagal and Mann make a great team together and whilst Vinnie Jones is not in the film a great deal he's a very believable bad guy because quite frankly playing psychos is what Vinnie does best.

I rated It an 8 as an action film because the story and pace and action kept me entertained.

I do recommend this to fans of Seagal.

Please view for yourself and decide.

Rocky V (1990)
8/10
Unfairly overlooked in the Rocky Series.
6 March 2013
Rocky V is deemed to be the worst film of the series and Stallone himself gave it a 1 rating in an interview here in the U.K with Jonathan Ross.

Whilst i understand Stallone's frustration with how the Rocky saga ended at the time. Rocky V is not a viewing experience without it's rewards.

Rocky's trip down memory lane to an empty Mickey's gym has to one of the standout scenes in the entire series and whilst the writing isn't on par with Rocky or even Rocky Balboa, you get the sense that Rocky V is back to basics and this is how it life would be if Rocky was a real everyday person and shows the struggles of how he and his family have to adjust everyday life, and how Rocky struggles to reclaim the life he once had, and the father/son relationship that deteriorates, due to Rocky spending all his time trying to live his life through his new protégé.

Whilst the eventual climatic final street fight between teacher and trainer might not be on a Drago or Creed level, you still find yourself rooting for Rocky and hoping he can fix what he has unknowingly broken.

Ignore all the reviews that it's poor continuation of the Rocky saga. It tries to get back to basics and for the most part succeeds.

My advice, give it a chance.
