I took my girlfriend to this movie and I really didn't know so much about it. We had a real surprise! This has got to be one of the best (not just Finnish) films I have seen! It does look great, the music is fresh and the actors/actresses look like they had fun making it. Pietro Steiner who plays the friend of Ville Haapasalo is great as Finnish baseball nut. But all of the acting is good- feeling good chemistry. "Vieraalla Maalla" is a really good-feeling movie, colorful and fresh. Definately the best looking Finnish film since Kaurismäki's "A Man With A Past". Go and see it. Whether you are a Finn or not you will be surprised. A fine Finnish movie!
Great! No.#2 surpassed everybody's expectations and #03 does more than that. One question: Given the quality of the sequels couldn't Keanu have been given a break from filming and Eric Roberts could have played Neo? Brian Dennehay would've been a great Morpheus. Dollars rule. Art is a nuisance.
Now hear me out. I may have missed something incredibly important and I'm open to correction- BUT didn't Neo reach "in the metaphysical sense" enlightenment? I mean in NO#2 he ummmmmm sweats a bit when fighting super-duper agent smith and ermmmm Bleeds? Hmmmmmm well, okay you don't want Keanu to repeat his role in "Little Buddha" through fear of Bernardo Bertolucci on your ass, but come on! Neo saw through the code in the first film. We saw through the fabric of reality with him- that's why we love that film BUT to stretch an amazing idea into two lacklustre sequels is one thing, to patronise the audience that made the first film what it is (and the impitace for the sequels) is crazy. Why? The first film (in hindsight) is enough. Do I have to wait for Peter Jackson to make the sequels out of seemigly impossible tasks? Enjoy your dollars, respect is beyond their worth.
