Joke Man (2023)
Bitter joke man
This is exactly the self-serving piece of crap the angry, bitter, then never funny Jackie The joke Man would produce. He was always Howard's pity case from day one, I never understood what Howard saw in him as far as him being anything even remotely funny. Jackie would not even been funny in the vaudeville days, which is where 99% of his jokes come from. He never understood his role on the show, he was always in the minor leagues and Howard was in the major leagues, although Jackie thought he was in The Beatles of comedy, but he wasn't even Pete Best. Kudos to the sweet Willie Nelson for lowering himself to be in this piece of crap. Mildly entertaining if you're a Stern fan, but expect self-serving crap until the end.
Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives! (1989)
Unintentionally hilarious
This is the most unintentionally hilarious movie in history. It would take 1000 pages to explain all the reasons why, so let's just say some French Canadian director trying to write a stereotypical 18th-rate Bruce Springsteen-type story is a recipe for disaster. Enjoy.
Willow Creek (2013)
Really good
This is a very creepy, Blair witch-type people lost in the woods movie and it's very entertaining, and very scary!
Lords of Chaos (2018)
Well done
This is a great story, and it's done pretty well, there were just a couple things that were unbelievable, like the first Mayham gig had like 1000 people at it? More likely there were about 7. And there were definitely no girls there LOL. Artistic license I suppose. But it was a very good accounting of a fascinating story and time.
The Vanishing (2018)
Wasted potential
It's a shame because this movie had great potential, but ham-handed storytelling. I love ghost stories, and I love lighthouses, but this falls short on every measure. Gerard Butler's acting is great though.
Barry Lyndon (1975)
Dull
This is beautifully shot, but it's insanely boring, I defy anyone to actually get through the entire thing, it's way way too long. I only watched it because I like Kubrick, but you can skip this one, and use three hours of your life in a much more productive way
One, Two, Many (2008)
Stuttering John ISN'T FUNNY...
There's NOTHING WORSE than someone who THINKS they're funny, and they're simply NOT.
Stuttering John Melendez embodies that.
He's only famous because Howard Stern exploited him, and wrote him funny questions to embarrass celebrities with.
This celluloid abortion is almost impossible to get through, and there's not a SINGLE LAUGH throughout it. Shame on Jeffrey Ross for lowering himself to appear in this piece of crap.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
DON'T LISTEN TO THE "CRITICS"
A great flick, anyway you look at it. I was fortunate enough to have seen Queen 2x in the very early 1980s, and Rami Malek did a STUNNING job channeling Freddie Mercury. Whether you love Queen's music or not, you should see this. It's beautiful.
House of Manson (2014)
just AWFUL
I know a lot about the Manson case. And there are many terrible, inaccurate depictions of it on film. But THIS has to be the worst. I only wish I could rate it something less than 1.
Manson's Lost Girls (2016)
a lazy, ham-handed version of the story
I know the Charles Manson Helter Skelter story very well. This is a made-for-tv half-assed attempt at telling a story featuring supposed dirty hippies that have outfits straight out of the hippie version of Abercrombie & Fitch.
And how is it that they could not find an actor that resembles Charles Manson even a little bit? The guy playing Charlie looks like Kenny Loggins. Not very terrifying. Again very lazy.
Spahn Ranch looks like a Disney Amusement Park version of Spahn Ranch, far too nice, instead of the decrepit dump it actually was. The Interiors of the ranch feature stuff you would find in a Williamsburg hipster's apartment, not in a dirty hippie commune. And the dialogue is trite, stereotypical, and just plain silly..
The girl who plays Linda Kasabian is one of the only high points, she's fantastic. But the rest is pretty sad and dumb, one of the only good things is that the story itself is so striking. Hopefully Quentin Tarantino's big budget version will be something that will make us forget all these half-assed versions (with the exception of the original Helter Skelter movie that came out around 1974 or 1976).
Bigfoot County (2012)
terrible
A ridiculous, pathetic 'Blair Witch' rip-off, an absolute insult to that horror masterpiece. Horrible acting, horrible, pathetic 'script', a shameful rip-off premise, you name it. Almost a parody of 'Blair Witch', with absolutely NONE of that brilliant movie's charm. Not even fun to watch ironically. They take concepts and scenarios directly from Blair Witch, and try to disguise them as their own. The dialogue is EMBARRASSINGLY bad. At least the Bobcat Goldthwait Bigfoot movie wasn't a rip-off, and had some truly frightening moments. One positive is some of the 'scary' sounds in the woods were pretty scary, OOOOH! The filmmaker(s) should be ASHAMED of themselves. It leaves you feeling NOTHING for the characters, except rooting for their slow, painful demises. I don't know how anyone involved in this celluloid abortion can look themselves in the mirror. Don't watch it. It SUCKS.
