Wicked blood by Mike young acts as a very intriguing character study of a young teenage girl living in a very trying atmosphere. In an environment where breaking the law, drug trafficking and other vices are commonplace and stuff like talking to the police is considered immoral/taboo, the girl wants out.
The director takes us through a ride of what goes around in her young mind, her love for chess and how real life resembles chess with various people playing roles of different chess pieces, their strenghts, limitations and their significance to the game called life.
It is really interesting to see how her intelligent and yet at the same time immature and flawed plan plays out. We see all features of a young mind the determination, the intelligence and the ultimate immaturity at display
Abigail Breslin is probably one of the most talented young actresses in Hollywood right from the days of Little miss sunshine and it is needless to say that she embraces this role of a conflicted girl with ease and grace.
Sean bean is his usual wicked self as a the mafia boss uncle.
Overall for an experience, i really like such movies that are different and portray real life characters with humane feel and limitations rather than a superhero movie with CGI.
If you re my type of viewer you ll probably love this movie.
* Its a pity that this movie has not got a lot of promotion/hype and m the first one posting the review

Being a Science fiction fan, I went to the Screening of Europa Delight with High Hopes.
To say the least, I was not at all Disappointed. Rather, the film really intrigued me. I was very happy to see fresh faces in the cast and pleasantly surprised to see Michael Nyqvist (The Millennium series).
Mild Spoilers Ahead
The movie revolves around a group of astronauts who leave earth in an attempt to find life on one of Jupiter's moons. We get to see the actual trip their emotions, experiences, feelings, frustrations and sacrifices.
To say more would be giving away the plot, but the movie has a great heart and the characters are fresh and full of life. Their love for the work they do and their passion is clearly evident from their eyes expressions and actions.
Add to it a marvel cinematography, brilliant narration crisp editing, and delightful performances and what you get is 95 minutes of breathtaking action and thrill.
The movie had a lasting impact on me several hours after it had ended. It made me wonder - Who are we, How did we come here, what lies beyond in the unknown universe.
How far would you go in your quest for the truth. Do you have it in you to risk it all for this cause? :)

I went to the screening of Rush with high hopes after what i found were Rave Reviews of the Movie.
No Doubt, the movie is decent solid watch, but falls short of being a classic or worthy of an Oscar nomination as claimed by many.
Mild Spoilers ahead.
As we know by now the story revolves around the rivalry between the Brit James Hunt and the Austrian Niki Lauda with emphasis on the 1976 season. The plot is pretty straight forward and inspired by the true events portrayed authentically.
The story moves at decent pace and i also kind of liked the way the season is depicted race by race in a tight gritty manner. Technically the film is good, visually authentic, with decent film editing and good cinematography.
However, what seriously limits the film is mediocre dialog, and the lack of an emotional connect to the characters. The women and pretty much the entire cast have precious little to do both in terms of dialog or impact.
Chris and Daniel are good in their roles but at some level fail to make us deeply care about them. They do of course have their moments but they are few and far between.
If you are an avid F1 fan like me, you d be aware of how, much up to the 70's (hell even 90's till senna's death)F1 was a very dangerous sport with few security regulations, high risk tracks and an indifferent FIA. The film touches on these themes, but alas, fails to draw the kind of emotions/empathy for the drivers.
So, all in all a good film which could have been so much more :)
